- Playing whomps fortress, and getting my ass kicked. All in a days work.
I would also like to take the time to say that I appreciate you King Whomp and it is a shame that the city doesn't give you any dental insurance, let alone decent health insurance. Since you took over public transportation the cost to build and repair roads has gone down, traffic has decreased 97% and the quality of the roads being built has greatly improved. If you want to strike, I will be right there with you at the picket line.

I'd kill for a Mario 64 remake with the Galaxy engine.
Someone's making a mod of Galaxy 2 called Galaxy 64 that does exactly that. It's not out yet though.

Yep. Same goes for whomps. Also in the SM64 and the DS version, you lose 4 hp without a cap.

Super Mario 64 came out in 1996
Even if people say Mario 64 is better or worse than Mario Galaxy they're both awesome nintendo games, thing is the company tries to update previous experiences with new graphics so the kids get almost same experience as those who played N64, this is something to admire! ♥
I wish they had a throwback galaxy in the first since that related more to SM64. This game was like Super Mario World meets Super Mario Sunshine with the Yoshis and the Giant Bowser. The first one was SMB3 meets SM64. I wish the Koopalings could've appeared in the first game since it had the doomships like 3D Land did too.

This level looks better in Super Mario 64. A good example that it's not all about how much resolution or polygons you use.
But I still loves that they put it in SM Galaxy 2. I didn't knew the first time I played it and was really surprised.

Whomp’s fortress was probably chosen because it fits Galaxy the best: floating in the middle of nowhere. A level like Bob-omb battlefield wouldn’t work as well because it implies the existence of a larger landmass

Nintendo just showed they can make a sm64 Nintendo Switch remake
I sometimes wonder why they decided for the throwback to be in the final battle world as opposed to World S bonus galaxies. Then it would have been similar to how Super Mario Odyssey waited until after the final showdown for the Super Mario 64 throwback.
Almost all the World S bonus galaxies are also throwbacks, though.
dislikes are probably because the level isn't anything like people remember. Mario doesn't control as tight as he used to

The dice at 0:59 fell off, then actually landed at 1:04. You can hear bowser which means an enemy was spawned by the dice. I wonder where it landed? Obviously they made a floor of like the skybox, but it’s just interesting to me.
the only thing that changed is the number of polygons the artist had to work with, just because it is easier to make something look better with more polygons doesn't mean the N64 artist didn't do a superb job that still compares to most games today
At least players know thier way around the level the first playthrough! It looks totally identical to the N64 version!

Ok I love throwback galaxy but here is what they had the opportunity to do with stars
Star 1 chip of whomps block
Star 2 to the top of the fortress
Comet star 100 (purple) coins
Green star 1 blast away the wall
Green star 2 shoot into the wild blue
Green star 3 fall into the caged island
Left out the red coin star but I don’t see how that is doable
this is my most favorite galaxy out of the entire game
Excuse me do you know a thing about game design? They re-composed the music. Redid all of the character and level modeling, and even the boss design in the end is quite a bit different than the N64 version. The only thing they did little effort on was the overall level design, but I assure you they put just as much effort into this level as the other levels in the game. This level was a salute to old Mario 64 players back in the day. Considering too this is just a small part of the game.....
It would be amazing if Nintendo just did a complete revamp of Super Mario 64. Just like how they did for Goldeneye.

I was introduced to this fight in mario galaxy 2. Never knew it was a remake until about a year or so ago. Probably why i felt something in this galaxy that the other ones just didnt have.

Super Mario 64 was a pretty easy game. At least Galaxy 2 has some challenging stages, which is a problem Galaxy and 64 shared. Yeah, the bosses are painfully easy, but that's been par for the course for nearly all the Mario games. A silly little marker can't really make it any easier than it already is.
