Exo's concept since debut has been that they're aliens on Earth from ExoPlanet(It actually exists) and they have superpowers. Many of their MV's capture that story and they tend to display these powers in their choreography and lyrics too(All the songs on the DMUMT album are dedicated to one member's superpowers each. Anyway, guess what Suho's power is? Water.

Oh gosh! I just realized that this is your first time seeing Lay perform with the group. He's currently promoting solo due to some conflict between Korea and China which is honestly just confusing so we're not getting into that. But yeah, EXO-L's miss him a lot. And I'm sure his members do too. :)
Exo originally was created with 2 subunits, the Korean and Chinese. The Chinese members were meant to promote in China. When Exo's 2nd album went global the two units combined which meant the Chinese members had no time to visit or tour for longer than the scheduled tour dates in their home countries. Since many of the Chinese members were in their teens when they joined SM they had all ready spent 5-7 years in a foreign country with little to no contact with their family. These tensions combined with busier schedules due to increasing demand for the group led to health problems and stress that resulted in 3 members requesting contract termination and re-negotiation(Kris). Lay was the only Chinese member left and carried on despite not being able to go home or visit family. So Lay has been given time back in China to work on projects and solo activities. He really deserved it for staying strong all that time away from his country, home, and family. Kris was free to persue solo activities and SM was allowed to collect a small percentage of his earnings until his contract ends with SM in 2020 I believe.
SM has changed the way foreign artist are treated as well as the Korean members. Since then both Korean and Chinese members have been given more time to explore other interests and have personal time in between demanding schedules so that they can be refreshed and handle their schedules with less strain on their mental and physical health. SM has also found ways for future Chinese members of their newer bands like NCT to have visits to their hometowns worked into their reality shows and showcases to help ease the added stress that non-Korean members have working far from home.
I forgot too that shortly after the members leaving China placed restrictions on how much foreign companies can promote and make money in China. Since lay is signed to a foreign company it has made promotions with Exo a bit complicated so they are doing what they can for the moment.
Welcome to Lay. You've seen him in the guide for a hot second, but that does him no justice. He is hot, and boy is most comfortable in his sexuality. Like he can turn on the body rolls and grinds in a second. Dude knows his body and knows how to use it, but don't get it twisted, he is totally different off stage. It's like Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde lol. I would advise you to check out his solo work because he is given some of the fewest lines in EXO songs (excluding Chinese versions).
He is Chinese, and he keeps a heavy presence in China, so his solo work will be in Chinese. His solo work is paid for out of his own pocket, and does almost everything on his albums. So far he has 2 full albums, 1 mini album, and 1 winter album. He does his work with EXO, acts, does variety shows, one of the kpop stars with the most advertisements/endorsements, and he's a youth ambassador in China. Dude is a workaholic and he is loyal to EXO, and he does it all with a smile on his face. So we love, support, and worry about him. Sidenote: he is still close with ex member Luhan (whom he refers to as his brother). And he can sometimes be seen hanging out with him in public during their off time.

As a fan for a year, it’s amazing how exo still surprises me. Ive seen everything, from the past years even solo work, but they keep on surprising me with amazing performances! I’ve also seen them live, and hearing live vocals killed meeeee! It’s better than the studio version!! D.O’s adlibs are the best! And they were singing amazingly while playing with the crowd (we threw toys at the stage and they play with them) and they were just there, belting those high notes like it was the most normal thing to do.
As soon as Artificial Love came on I knew you were gonna lose it lmaooooo 😂 White Noise and AL are on the 4th Album which is honestly my favorite, I think you'll really like it if you have the chance to listen to it 👌🏻

White Noise and Artificial Love are a couple songs from EXO I listened to when I first got into them, along with some others. I think the groups of four songs that they put together during their concerts really show what their music is like and how they can incorporate so many genres into their music (overall, not like all in one song). EXO's versatility is something that often non-EXO fans recognize if they've heard enough of their songs. Also from watching reactions to EXO something else I've noticed they do a lot is have at least one switch up in their songs. I like that about reaction videos- sometimes there are just things you're used to that you don't quite recognize until someone points it out/ mentions it.
The way you took out your earbuds was like, "That was an experience!" I saw it in your facial expression. Which we all relate to!

after watching this i think you’ll probably like Ex’act the most (in terms of their albums). that’s the album that White Noise and Artificial Love are on. i think of that album as the “producers album” just because they go waaay out in terms of genre and do a lot of electronic/techno/house stuff which isn’t typical of pop. it’s their most cohesive album sound wise. you should still listen in order cause it’s nice to hear how they’ve grown but i’m excited to see you react to ex’act (exodus too)

Yes, I love your reaction!! Lmao you were still analyzing the songs even through all that. I just realized it was your first time seeing Lay, and you had to see him being infinitely rude lol. React to NAMANANA and Give Me A Chance, these are his recent mvs, and Lose Control and Sheep (Alan Walker relift or the original, it doesn't really matter), these are older mvs, except Alan Walker relift. Lay is such an admirable performer, I really can't wait till you get into his solos! All of these songs are from different albums, but it'd still be okay to do first listens to all of them even if you've heard, so plz do them!! Exo really are my favorite performers, you can see why just from one performance! It's really hard to see their concerts!! Their concerts (all 4 of them) are the fastest sold out concerts, their recent one, The Elyxion sold out in 0.2 seconds, beating their previous record of The Exo'luxion's 0.4 seconds. Music is my passion and where my heart is... so even through ALL THAT!! my ears still managed to pick up on the things I love most! I will definitely be doing first listens to all their albums, tbh I really want to listen to them ASAP but it's gonna take me a while to film and edit but I promise you they will be up at some stage! I especially love chanyeol’s voice. Although he’s the rapper in exo, BUT I LOVE HIS VOICE. You should probably listen to Chanyeol’s live singing All Of Me with the piano. It’s amazing. I love all of their vocals, including the rappers. Sehun usually raps cause his singing is not that good, he do most parts in rapping and dancing but I still love his part where he sings a little bit in the songs back in the days like sing for you.

"Playboy" was wrote and composed by Jonghyun of SHINee. If you know Jonghyun's style and signature sound you can totally hear him in this song. This is just one of a number of song that Jonghyun wrote and gave to other artists over his lifetime.
That's the reason why I love their live performances more than their MV's. Thats just 1 of their great performances. I'll keep waiting for your notifications for your next reaction to EXO.

I hope you eventually react to their superpowers - in most performances + MVs there are references to them (i.e. in this one in the middle of White Noise, Suho (Water) raises his hand and "rain" starts to fall, when it's Baekhyun's (Light) bit after the water starts one light focuses on him then when he stops it returns to normal, also just as Thunder is starting the focus is on Chen (Lightening) and you can hear thunder in the background bc thunder + lightening ... yeah etc)

As someone commented below, exo always use their superpowers no matter the performance or concept. The rain was a reference to suho's superpower (water) that starts when he sings his line + rain is often regarded as white noise. Likewise with Baekhyun and Chen. Exordium was one of the best exo concerts, they took advantage of the superpower concept to the fullest (performances, vcrs, etc) and there were so many different sections (edm section, sexy/sensual section, etc) I curse sm so much for not touring in Europe.
Also, your reactions are so entertaining bc you don't only react to the performances but also the music, and I never get bored of armys who are new to Rated Exo hahaha.
Oh and the songs, sm groups bsides are always better than the title tracks. They always explore different generes but don't stray too far from the group's sound. Taking exo as an example, xoxo was the pop-iest of their releases, exodus (fan favourite) and the minialbum overdose are 90% rnb, ex'act and the war are the most experimental but while ex'act is more hard edm and house, the war is a variety of everything. And then there's the Christmas releases (MiD is a 100% full fledged chrismasy babe, SFY and For Life are more varied wile Universe is more of a healing, soft and intimate album that just happened to be released on December). There are more nuances that differentiate each release but talking about them in detail will make this already lengthy essay turn into a full book lmao. I totally recommend listening to all the albums BUT I am not asking for a reaction if it's too much work for you. You can just put them on while you are driving or going about your day haha. Anyways, thank you for your cute reaction, I hope you enjoyed listening and watching these performances, I am looking forward for the next ones!!

About the water on stage thats because each EXO members have powers and Suho power is water that is why he was in the center. He made rain on stage. You will see this a lot. ln ko ko bop (oh my gosh soooo many) - monster (suho´s wave...D.O. using strength to move other members to a certain direction...sehun using wind to make members go around him) - Lucky one - MAMA - Power ..etc

@@fifizappareacts While Jonghyun was writing songs for his first solo project 'Base', he hung out with Chen, Chanyeol and Suho and told them that he always wanted to write a song for EXO. Playboy was originally intended to be part of his own project, but Jonghyun decided that it was "the right one" to give to EXO and that's how they ended up recording the song for their 2nd album 'Exodus'. There are elements of Playboy's production that sound similar to Excuse Me Miss (a SHINee song) and Jonghyun has also performed Playboy himself, most prominently at his 2015 concert series 'The Agit'. There's lots of fun connections between SHINee and EXO in regards to their discographies, it's really interesting!
I totally look forward to you getting into some more of EXO's B-sides, their albums are all truly worthwhile listens
Did you notice during "White Noise" when it started to rain they focused on Suho? Suho's power is the power to control water so he was the one that caused the rain to start. And at the beginning of "Thunder" did you notice that they focused on Chen when the song started? Chen's power is the power of thunder so he created the lightning and thunder in that song. Even in live performances everything comes back to EXO's concept and storyline. :D
