Lucy: "You did that to your friend?" Renee: "I killed your daughter you know" Lucy: "Yeah but I've only known her for two seconds" LOL Lucy is too funny, I couldn't stop laughing when she made that comment. XD
This show started a year after I was born, I could not remember seen it only small parts of it when I visited my dad. Years pass I forget of the show, then my dad gives me season 1 I leave It in my basement for four years! (How could I?!) then I go my grandmas just to watch the together. She mentions Xena that she watched it every Saturday when she lived in the states. I told her I had the season 1 and walla got hocked!! There are no words that describes my love to this show. And if they are talking about making a movie Renee and Lucy agree on doing it. Then stop f#%**cking making us wait anylonger! And make the movie please, I asked nicely lol
That's what Lucy says at the end of this. First Lucy is talking about the "corny" line that Xena says at the end of the episode and Rob tries to defend the line by saying it's what people want to hear. So Lucy acknowledges that by saying, "Corn sells". It is a play on words.
Ack! These are the same sorts of comments I read on another Xena commentary. Anyone who has watched lots of these commentaries (though I like them all) should know that Lucy and Renee, left to themselves, mostly just react to the video being shown. Rob observations are always interesting and much more informative. Thanks for posting!
As much as I love to hear Lucy and Renee react to the episodes, I would much rather hear Rob's more insightful and behind-the-scenes comments. People need to chill and give him a break!
That part about Xena cracking Gabrielle's head open is interesting. On the DVD there's also an interview with Rick Jacobson who directed the episode (I couldn't find that on UA-cam). Apparently, it was some sort of a misunderstanding. According to him, the script said 'Xena sees Gabrielle stabbing Eve through the window and hits her in the head with her chakram'. Not an exact quote but, apparently, it was not clear that Xena wasn't supposed to know it was Gabrielle at first. Also, he said he asked if it was ok to ditch the part with the window because it was difficult to do in practice and have Xena come inside the house because she sensed danger before the shooting started and he was told it was fine. I do think that Xena not knowing who she was throwing the chakram at would have made more sense and would have been more tragic. But I still like the version that we got because it is actually a cool shot and I could justify it as Xena acting on instinct. Also, I'm thinking she could have killed Gabrielle instead of just wounding her so she probably didn't shoot to kill.
@Libby194 that totally true. Lcy and Renee seems to hate the production, I dunno how to explin this, they just react like like common people, Rob explains each scene and I think it's important, this is the most edited episode and there were to much edited scenes that never shown in the episode.
Something that stood out to me is the contrast between Rob and Lucy/Renee in terms of their commentaries. Usually on these commentary featurettes Lucy and Renee act like casual viewers, cracking jokes and stuff, and only occasionally sharing something they remember about the actual production of the show. They seem pretty confused about the plot as well. Nothing wrong with that. As actors, they were probably most familiar with their own parts It's understandable that they wouldn't remember all the details after some 4-5 years later (I think these interviews were shot some time in 2004). Actors probably don't spend all their time watching their own stuff after the job's done. I still enjoyed listening to what they had to say. But Rob on the other had seems much more aware of when and where an episode is taking place and why an event is happening and how everything fits together. I guess it makes sense since he was the guy overseeing it all.
Rob Tapert was definitely"the" key part of Xena's production. He was the one who actually made it what it still is.. a spectacular show.

To bad Kevin Smith is gone. Nice clips I enjoyed hearing them talk about this stuff.

Contrary to some people here I think that Rob Tapert deserves some respect!! that's all I have to say....
They should have kept the idea of Xena trowing the chakram not knowing it was Gab! That would have changed EVERYTHING!!! X&G 4ever!!
I felt like such a geek when Rob Tapert says the audience have no idea why xenas carrying around the big ole chains.,.....i still remember why, lol.

6:17 :o))) how they laugh :o)) and 8:59 a little disagreement :o)
They cut out the part where Deimos gets killed or at least I did not see that part. Didn't he get squashed by an object or something?
love this ep!!!
