I think this may be a metaphor for suicide, the "angel" told him the way out had been there the whole time meaning he could've escaped at any moment whenever he liked. But the escape route is a ladder up into a bright light and the supposed "angel" turns out to be a demon misleading you
Angel/Devil Dog is right. There's always a way out. You can let go of the fears that hold you back and bind you to your suffering. Of course, there's more than one way to let go. You could move on with life and forget your doubts and fears, or you could just put an end to all of it, even yourself. You could say one of those options is a bit less favorable than the other, but hey, the cute Doggy's just helping people get out. How pleasant an escape it is is entirely up to them.
Gregory says go back to your room, there is no way out. If there is no way out how am I supposed to go back to my room. Did Gregory want him to jump through the TV, or am I missing something?
I... kinda have a more unique opinion about Angel/Devil Dog, which is also kinda supported in the game. Instead of just being the 'nice' supportive person that actually gives people genuine help, she's just being a superficially bad person that only says positive things to be manipulative. I'm not saying Gregory is in the right either, but at least he is being honest about his intents. Angel/Devil dog is... literally a bitch.
don't listen to her because she's a dog? dude, no, don't say that besides, I can see on the tail that he is a rat, so why did he ,alteast, noticed she said mouse? ... well nvm

I would've gone down the right path, since it's the _right_ path and all.

Am I the only one who thinks that Gregory's laugh sounds kind of like the Happy Mask Saleman's? Ya know, from Majora's Mask?
Thank goodness I am not the only one!
"There was always away out, even from the begining" Yea, it's called a gun, knife or rope.. and other less common methods of suicide
