Wow! My first car was a '69 Nova 307 2dr, a hand me down from my mom. My dad and I spent weekends and summers in '89 and '90 - a year before this one was parked - and it needed EVERYTHING. Floors, trunk floor, lower quarters, engine rebuild, transmission, most of the interior, lots of bodywork. To think that this 4 year older car was parked a year later and was in that condition is incredible. And now that its survived ANOTHER 32 YEARS in that condition is beyond incredible. Thank you for appreciating this beautiful survivor!
Oh, and the gas tank. Only reason it didn't get replaced was about 2 years before my mom gave it to me, she was filling the tank and it started pouring gas everywhere so she had my dad find another in a junkyard to replace it.
That is definitely a cool Nova! Cleaned up very well!! 👍👍 Of course, 1973 was the first year of the new styling, until it was changed again in 1975. New grille, tailights, etc. They kept the 68-72 shape, just updated it. Very nice! Thanks for sharing. 😎
That's a really nice car them wheels look pretty cool on there too if they were painted a dark gray or some nice Cragers would be period correct as well The interior and paint came right back Someone's going to be happy. Take care guys.
My 96 year old Uncle still has his 1968 4 Door Nova with the 307 V8 think it has just a little over 100000 miles on it and he still drives it all over the state. I remember when I was 8 years old he and my Aunt came for a visit the week they bought it new to show it to my Dad
What an absolutely fantastic car. Real time capsule of a thing and it is awesome to see it getting some love. As for the escape from under falling car, my elbow bears the scar of working on rear brakes and a car falling off the stand. I have no expectation of sympathy for myself as the injury and fright was a product of my own misadventure/stupidity As you say, safety first.
It's so weird. I have a one owner 1971 Nova. 250 6 banger, powerglide transmission, two door, carpet and radio delete,Cottonwood green. The woman's name who owned it was Stella Harding. She was a school teacher at a local elementary school. So both green Novas , one owner and their first names being the same. I also had a 1979 Nova four door the same color as your foor door. I love your videos. Especially the Nova videos. Keep them coming.
Great video and car find! Too bad it's a more door, but I guess they are probably almost all that are left to find at this point. In my experience, once you use something like Armor All or other petroleum-based products on vinyl car interior pieces you need to continue using it regularly or the vinyl seems to decay much faster.
I owned a 73 Nova, also in green like this one, 2-door with a 307. Traded it in on a 78 Nova, which turned out to be a rustbucket. But they were both dependable, basic transportation - the 78 had a 305 in it with a 4-speed. Looked spiffier than it actually was - lol.
Swimming pool liner cleaner worked really well for me on my old Chevy to remove the stickiness from the interior. It has never returned after more than ten years.
I've been successful in the past driving a 12 point socket on a rounded off bolt or nut. Off course it has to a smaller size, like a metric on sae. Good luck..
I bought a 1986 Toyota Camry from the estate of the grandmother of one our daughter's friends when she was in middle school. I was puzzled when going through the trunk why the grandmother would have a couple of slim jims in it. I was extremely curious what she did with them. It was a question I never found the answer for.
uncovered a build sheet on an 83 celeb I had. something told me to lift the back seat cushion. I found 3.50 in change and FOUR copies stapled to the underside (with one loose). the only things added to stock were the automatic and "maple red" body pinstripes.
@@HotRodHoarder I'll do you one better...the *window sticker* was still in the glovebox as well. 8200, if I remember right (33k nowadays!) only my latest vehicle also had that.
A little Visit to harbor freight may help with the tools situation ,You know what you're doing you just need some tools to do it with. Every dad needs their little helper she's cutest she can be .
I wonder if those seats have been recovered. Most had vinyl. That would explain the build sheet folded and tucked under the corner of the rear seat. i always pop the back seat bottom to look for treasures ! lol
I bet she had a handy man doing work on her house and the handy man would keep the paint and shingles in the car so it was easy excess. I know when i was doing house maintenance some days I would just toss the stuff in my project car instead of carrying it all back to the shed
If you go to a good upholstery shop you can get them to repair that front seat with the original material and it will look as good as new and I hope you clean that thing up real nice and keep it to run around with both of your little girls you should that whole car before you put any wax on it be careful around the sharp edges because the paint will come back black car is worth getting the paint match and put in the original wheels back on it and keeping it 100% original car is closed as you can get it
Honestly, if you're doing wheel cylinders, and already jacking up the car, why not put a set of new, cheap shocks on it? If you're already ordering from Rockauto, you can literally get front and rear KYB shocks for $20-25 each. Or you could get ACDelco for $25-30 each. Seems like a stupid thing to omit, if I'm being honest. Are you just too impatient to wait for the parts to come in so you can do all these jobs at once, or are you really that cheap? I suppose you must really be that cheap, since you said you wanted to avoid putting on a new master cylinder "at all costs". Yet, master cylinders only cost $50 or less for this car at Rockauto. So is $50 really too much for you to spend to make sure the car drives safely? I'm having a hard time understanding your logic on this.
Shocks are the last thing on my mind when it comes to getting an old car back on the road. I am definitely THAT cheap, especially when it’s not my car or my budget. My friend let me play with his car so I didn’t want him to spend a bunch of money if it wasn’t needed. I did the bare minimum to make the car drivable.
I thought you said up front in your first video of this Nova that you bought it from your friend after he purchased it. Did I totally miss something?@@HotRodHoarder
@@ldstirling I can't remember exactly how I said it in the first video, but I didn't buy the car from him. He brought it to me to see if I could get it running.
Don't cat owners use scoopers for their cat's kitty litter? That 1971 dime might be pure silver. Another classic car that's escaping Obama's anti-ICE clutches.
Mrs.Stella was like my parents and grandparents. They lived through hard times and didn’t waste anything. Cool old car.
Please dont ever change my friend. Youre good people.
My granny born in 1898 saved wonder bread wrappers and weaved them into door mats!
Cool Nova!😊
That 1971 dime looks like it was silver. I was born in 1971. Super nice Nova.
Nice find! As a Child of the early 70's I remember that green gold color well, My grandparents had a 73 or 74 Malibu that was that Color.
Lol like most old car's when they set .They get used as a storage sheds lol 😆
It’s amazing you didn’t have to mess with the carburetor after sitting all those years.
Finding the GM build sheet. And the shine tag two big finds in the old Nova. Looks a lot better. Happy for you!
💯👍
Just like my daddy people of that generation saved "everything".

That's an amazing and awesome Chevy Nova, glad you found and resurrected this very beautiful car.👍💯♥️
Thumbs up and Blessings to you ✝️🙏👍💯🇺🇲
Very nice, turned out great. You really have to keep your eyes open there are a few good ones just sitting in driveways and backyards.
What a dream car!
She's a cool Cruiser!
Our first new car was a 1973 Olds Omega 2 door with the same green color and interior as yours. 6 cylinder automatic with no A/C. It’s a memory!

That's a nice nova. We had a 68 with the 307 still have a 70 Chevelle with the 307. They are great motors.
We had 1968 Chevelle Nomad Wagon that color green with the 307, loved that car!!
One cool old Nova I like it my brother's had one blue and one gold

You have one hard working daughter, good for you and your wife for the upbringing you have taught her 👏.
You creating memories she will carry with her for a lifetime!
I keep every metal hanger I see. They're getting harder to find honestly. So damn handy to have around when you need one.

Stella is definitely a classy lady. I love these novas.

That brake tool you were talking about is not expensive and sure makes things easier. You should get one
What a damn jewel. I would have a hard time ever letting that one go.

I'd take this over a new car any day of the week!
I suggest a Murphy's oil soap mixture for cleaning old interiors. It claims without chemicals. I have used it for years

I had a 74. Interior looks the exact same.
I had that same color 73. Miss that car.
Air-downdisconnected4125 We all miss the cars that we once had😢
307 is a decent litlle V-8
Try a little pipe wrench that usually works

A lot of old people have shingles. 😅

Stella was a laundry scoop hoarder.
Great job be a good daily car I'd drive that car any wear

Knipex Pliars, had a pair for 30+ yrs. they resided in back pocket when doing maintenance used for everything BEST gripper in the world.
No doubt, the absolute best!
Donate all that stuff to goodwill
Try honda spray polish for interior....stuff is amazing.....buy anywhere that sells Honda atv or motorcycles
Wash the car in CLR and you'll be amazed by what it will do to the paint
A lot of people that lived they the Great Depression didn’t throw anything that had a purpose.

It would look so good with the seat upholstery fixed on it. I can't believe how well preserved the interior is in this car.
I’ve had fake fruit in my toolbox for 30 years. Same kinda deal

Too many doors
2 doors are getting scarce.

I see the super rich oil lobby has succeeded.
If i remember right , atlas brand was sold at SOHIO stations . Filter ,belt ,batteries and tires i believe.
