@@Sharkofspace I have to constantly use the right arrow to skip over them being stunlocked by extremely obvious things. That there is three of them means they all offload responsibility to each other which means they start questioning things that I think they all individually are sure about.
It does lead to some interesting discussions and tangents though, so swings and roundabouts

The line that thd old bookseller said in the last episode references philosopher Zhuang Zhou who, after dreaming he was a butterfly and waking up to be a man said he has no way of knowing whether he's a butterfly dreaming he's a man or a man dreaming he was a butterfly. This could tie into the player character being represented by the butterfly in the web
I love the implication that Nanni sees the house as it used to be in the previous dreams at the end. Which hints that Stardust is just seeing what she wants to at the end. That it's all in her head, but really the world is a much darker place for a rational mind, but she's lost to the eldritch horrors and so now things are saccharine and cute. In the end Rhok'zan's love is no different from any other eldritch being's influence. It drives you mad until it shows you the world as they would have it remade, and you welcome it.
But if reality is remade after the dreams of gods, is there a difference?
Maybe normalcy is just what stray figments of dreams convince themselves of absent the attention of the dreamer.
1:24:06 D actually owned volume 3 in the first game. Ln’eta found it and called him a perv. That’s also some clever subtle foreshadowing of the twist.
I love that the 3 you save are billy, nanny, and kid. Just goat things.

With any elder god of fertility, you're in for a futanari time.
Muu is the best character 100% i love them.
the spices in the kitchen and the cooking oil are part of the first heartburn ritual if nanni doesnt give you the hairspray because you need something flammable to start the fire
One nice detail I notice in the final showdown with Buck where you have to survive, before each hazard starts happening you can hear Buck speaking out incantations with the same sound that the player makes when they cast spells during the normal rituals. It really shows that Buck is still rather human but also symbolically an evil counterpart to Stardust so he follows the same Sucker for Love rules as the player. It also emphasizes that Muu chose him in the past so he also has his own spell book versus the player's book or memorized previous versions of the book that Stardust now has.
I didn't realize that's what it was. Cool detail!

I was wondering why it said 999 for the third episode. Now it all makes sense. Your own character is basically convinced the rest of Thousand to your side instead of Buck for who knows how many retries. The worse part is, Buck is there to see it all happen, being forced to remember everything through all timelines, while you don't. I'm kinda glad that he managed to get some kind of peace in the end.
All in all, this was a surprisingly good prequel. Ln'eta and Estir as kids looks so cute. I've never expected Rhok'zan's experience with your character will affect what happens to these two later down the line.
2:13:21 That's actually the whole point of those rooms with the big sliding doors in old Japanese houses. The big doors act like movable walls to create different room layouts depending on how much space you need.
The thought that none of the true end was real and the black woods infected the entire world, leaving everyone to die is COLD

Honestly i totalyl think that auntie nyan nyan has some major reason to be against these rituals. AS this is a prequel this is before she ends up having D as her sleep paralysis demon too. In that game she also tries to manipualte D into banishing Muu. so that implies that muu is still at it even in other realities, trying to prove her beliefs/generate mor eldritch smutt.
Ultimately it seems like the lore and motivation here is that muu is, slightly indirectly slightly directly, trying to make it that eldritch gods care for mortals, close the distance between them and bypass the frailty of mortal life and the vastness of the eldritch.
Auntie Nyan Nyan’s excuse is that she doesn’t want reality to end quicker once The Eternal Sleeper (aka, Azathoth), gets involved when no one is afraid of the gods anymore. The other reason is that she’s just a bigoted, old lady.

What a cool game. I love the anime dating sim veneer over horrific imagery as an ongoing bit. The longer playtime in this sequel allows for growth in gameplay and characterization, and that Muu bit was amazing.
When Alex realizes that her earrings are the symbols for male and female because she's a goddess of sex, love, lust, fertility, ect... well, he'll probably be like, "Oh, for real? Tight."

Daniel Mullins is in the Special Thanks part of the credits. Coincidentally, he had his own game in Dread X Collection 2 which was where Sucker For Love originated from. You guys played it, it’s called Solipsis, the one with the moon being a sentient entity and we’re a part of its dream and it had the mechanic of rationalizing things. Why do so many things tie back to the Dread X Collection series, especially volume 2!?

Since the SGS usually loves lore and subtlety - just want to point out that by not doing the other ending, you didn't get the real ending, nor the Matrix inspiration/reference. The decision tree showing "good end", while the in-game pretty scene says "true end" wasn't a mistake. You've been tricked... well, Gob Bluth would use a different word.

Yo what a great game. A heartwarming script, simple gameplay, not really scary but funny scary, great voice acting and fun music. Made with gamemaker studio too is just a bonus. Also buck did not deserve that ending he was an ass for doing all that stuff in the first place.

When I first played the game, I was too freaked out to go to the basement at the end (I didn’t even realize that’s where I was supposed to go to see the alternate ending), because hearing the ominous jingling getting louder and quieter while walking through the house made me think I was being stalked similar to the ai in earlier chapters and seeing the objectives speaking directly to Stardust or me freaked me out even more and I thought I would be jumpscared by some unknown monster and it will end the game so I just went outside.
I love this series so much.
Muu rivals Ln’eta in terms of cuteness, like holy shit is she adorable (I also love that she tries to make her voice sound warbly at times)! I never expected that prequel twist at the end. So much of this game made me think of Undertale with how you can befriend everyone and with its more emotional storyline than the first game (even some of the music reminds me of Undertale), and how the ending almost made me shed a tear of happiness (though I found out later that Akabaka’s intentions for the endings had much darker implications which reminds me of how Midsommar deceives people into thinking the cult is good and had a happy ending and I’m essentially in the denial stage of grief and don’t want to think of the game’s ending that way and am making excuses for it, like how Stardust gave Buck some optimism and wanting to see more of the universe and me comparing Auntie Nyan Nyan to the serpent tempting Eve in the Garden of Eden). Also in hindsight, hearing Rhok’zan screaming makes me play “Holding out for a hero” in my head.
I kind of expected the squad to point out Muu's standing pose puts her tentacles in the shape of a heart.
Honestly felt the same way at the end. Stardust deserves her good ending.
I saw the endings and I have things to say since I saw many discussions on it. Edit: *Do not read if you don't want to be spoiled*
I really feel that there's more to the two final endings than just a grim implication and it feels more like a bittersweet ending. I feel like the endings are a Morton's Fork, on one hand Stardust embraces the Black woods and loses her original goal of destroying the woods, yet embracing it is what ironically ended the cycle of her family, friends, and the town dying over and over again to Buck. The catch is there's a melancholy tragedy that a lot of that happy ending is insanity and illusions, and the reality might be horrible as the woods consumed the whole world, but on the other hand, burning down the woods is just choosing the status quo that Nyan Nyan and Buck embraced which would all just end like it always did before anyway. Doing the same thing and expecting a different outcome is a definition of insanity in of itself.
Sometimes it's best to just chill and not think too much about the horrible implications or better yet find a whole new way to fix the new problems now that the previous problems have been resolved. Another hope would be for the other souls that became immortal to learn to heal their pain and maybe give living and/or happiness another shot like Buck did when he chose to explore the cosmos.
There's a chance that Stardust could be replaced like many others before as the Truth ending might imply, but in this case our only hope here is that she will be the last and final immortal human that will break the cycle of tragedy as her tenacity in the game has shown, all we can hope for is that Muu chose the right person for Rhok'zan that can truly endure eternity. And in that case a positive way to see the true happy end is to see it as more of a new beginning as life goes on and time hopefully heals everyone than a real definitive end to all problems. Who knows? Maybe stardust enduring eternity more than what the Black Woods intended and never being replaced may be the right way to defy it. What I'm trying to say is the ending may not be all sunshine and rainbows, but it's not all doom and gloom either. Let's hope that things work out by the time the next sequel comes out.
Hoenstly here is my thought.
All humans in fact float around in the void. They exist even without the eldritch dreaming up realities. HOWEVER, they are not conscious of it and don't retain their memories while in the void.
Someone made immortal retains consciousness in the void... along with being unkillable in the 'dreams' too.

@@miguelnewmexico8641 I think you're genuinely right. I guess I just wanted to sum things up for all sides that I saw talking about the ending or being upset about it and help them look at it in a good way. I honestly have overdone things before.
I think it's falling for Auntie Nyan Nyan's trickery to assume this is a bad ending because she didn't destroy the Black Woods. That's never what Stardust wanted. She wanted to get reunited with her family, and now she can do that.
Chances are her perception is warped but it doesn't seem like Rhok'zan to lie about her family. The Black Woods may have taken over the world, but if the world ends and begins anew with the dreams of the gods, is that really a big deal? Does what we think of as normal even exist at all?
And sure, maybe eventually they will fall out of love and Stardust will have to figure out what to make out of her eternal life like Buck, but like she said, that's just life. With an infinite universe and endless dreaming gods, she can find something to make her life worthwhile anyway.
@@twilightvulpine I full understand and thanks for pointing it out. Of course Stardust's real goal was to reunite with her family, and Rhok'zan is definitely not the type to have ulterior motives. Just wanted to point out things really went by chance and what Muu and the Blackwoods itself were doing behind the scenes to get the two of them together. At the end of the day it was quite a lot of accidents that got them all to where they are. I wanted to just say that it's not all bad and more like a new beginning for those who might see it super bleak. Still I appreciate your feedback and it's good you make a lot of fair points as well. Thanks for your response and for sharing your own thoughts.
The only non-nefarious character that does the glasses flash is Tenya Ida, the speedy boy from My Hero Academia. He's like the antithesis to nefarious lol
well, he does have that one time. i'd call that a "type" of nefarious in some way. but im also super on his side on that one. he's a good boy.
For me the glasses flash is the Japanese equivalent of a character wearing gloves, it means that the are hiding something.

@@mattymerr701 Darling was Ln’eta’s pet name for him. All we know is that his name starts with the letter D (this is even a pattern with the other names, Dearest and Dog), and the poster in his apartment implies that he’s some kind of model.
It's D for David, it's canon.

I had the same feelings about the endings. I did try the other ending just out of curiosity, but it really felt like it was based on random spite and nothing else.

Hey guys, Autum Ivy played Billy and the developers actually designed her character look after her. That's right. Autum is muscle mommy. Heck she even goes by that nickname. Oh and here's the best part. You can go to her UA-cam channels and watch her play this very game. Which she does a 100% playthrough to see all the outcomes/endings. The only thing she missed was spraying Aunty Nan Yan with the water bottle. Which you happened to do.
I suggest watching the live stream versions over the edited ones listed under videos. You get a more full experience that way.
