    A buddy and I used to try and do the 50 m underwater, and were around the 45 m area. He finally got it one day, and passed out in the water after finishing. Fortunately I was there to pull him out of the water and lay him on his side. Make sure to always have someone with you when doing this.

      Me and my buddys used to do 50 meters with relatively few problems, but once I tried to go further and passed out at around the 60-meter mark. Got pulled out, no harm done, but yea, it's good to have someone one the lookout.

      I used to do 50s too, but had never tried to go further. Once I tried and passed out at around 65m. My coach almost lost his phone which was in his pocket, LOL. No harm done also, but yeah, it is dangerous.

    Dynamics No Fin, it is one of the discipline in freediving (especially for competitions), there is DYN (Dynamic with Fins), DNF, STA (static apnea), CWT (Constant Weight - where you dive down to depth and come back up with the same amount of weight), variable weight, free immersion (where you pull a rope to go down and come back up), and no limits (you go down to depth with a slide and come back up with balloon. i dont remember all but they are just for the sake of competition.

    8 lengths!? I assume it's a 25 metre pool?
    I managed to do 1.5 on a 20 metre pool, using the hyperventilation method but have since learned that this is dangerous as it fools your body into thinking you have more air than you do by getting rid of the carbon dioxide. Since I have no desire to black out underwater, I have not tried to better this.

    • @Arcnat

      If you’re still around here after six years, would you mind telling me about this method? I struggle in the pool, and being able to go longer is something I’d like to do.

      @@Arcnatill explain it but DONT DO THIS, its dangerous and it doesnt really help you.
      By taking rapid deep breath before diving, you unload all the co2 in you blood. But you dont get more oxygen. When you feel lile you need to breathe, its because your co2 is high, not oxygen low. So it feels like you dont need to breathe.In reality your oxygen is low and your about to black out. Your oxygen levels will drop very fast , because certain mechanisms in you body. The proper way to dive longer is to build co2 tolerance, by doing so called co2 tsbles and breathholds.

      @@nuclearping this ^^ and also a focus on proper diet, most of your breath during a breathe up should be in your diaphragm and by eating food that are difficult to digest you drastically reduce the amount of air your diaphragm can hold, my static is usually around 3:00 to 3:15 but when I am bloated and have cramps from eating bad food I can barely reach 2:00

    What about the pool size. It would be harder to compare records because of the different pool size and the ability to gain speed when he is turning. He is good, I give him that.. But I think that there should be a standard length of a pool..

    • @catharinalangle4890
      @catharinalangle4890 5 років тому

      There is. More than 25m. This way, the athlete cannot pull a dive just by pushing off and gliding.
      Larger pool:
      Advantage: less energy consuming turns and lengths to count.
      Disadvantage: more distance to cover by active strokes.
      Smaller Pool:
      Advantage: less distance between pushing off/gliding sequences
      Disadvantages: more energy consuming turns, more lengths to count.

    • @catharinalangle4890
      @catharinalangle4890 5 років тому

      DNF is the abbreviation for "Dynamic No Fins".
      Free diving is the grand whole, comprising of eight disciplines:
      Vertical class:
      " Constant Weight" (CWT)
      "Constant Weight No Fins (CNF)
      " Free Immersion " (FIM)
      "Variable Weight" (VWT)
      "No Limits" (NL)
      Horizontal Class:
      "Dynamic No Fins" (DNF) (as seen above)
      "Dynamic apnea" (DYN)
      Static Class
      "Static Apnea" (STA)
