Being speechless and surprised at every turn is standard operating procedure for the Maids If you go back in your reaction 4:05 when you notice Akane “killing it on the drums,” just a few seconds later she delivers a full four measure drum fill 🥁 Don’t sweat the lyrics. Treat the vocals as another instrument and enjoy the ride 🚀 The reason you couldn’t give it a 10? Because it was so unexpected and different from what you have been conditioned to like…it feels strange to love unfamiliar music. The industry is overflowing with dark, snarling and angry faces in bands who seem to have their logos designed by the same person. They appeal to the same emotions. But our Saiki, the Ice Queen sings, “Don’t hide your emotions, emotions.” Wait until you see them live. 🤘🏽

Two of my favourite things. First time reactions to Band-Maid and especially to this song. It's an excellent introduction to them, because the Maidiacs know there's way more to them.
Welcome to Band-Maid! The best hard rock band I have heard in my 58 years on this planet. They don't stick to any one genre and often mix genres in songs. They are extremely diverse and have an extensive back catalogue featuring Punk, Pop-Punk, Hard-Rock, Classic Rock, Metal, Prog, Blues, Jazz, Groove, Rap etc. From face melting 220 bpm punk-prog mayhem to ballads, instrumentals to acoustics they do it all. They can make you headbang, they can make you pogo, they can make you cry like a baby. They are also five of the nicest people in music, without a shred of ego. They are funny and fun and world class musicians to boot. They are currently into their 11th year with the original line up. No need to filter Band-Maid MV's, they support reactors and often watch them. Just stick to official MV's or official live MV's and you are golden. Btw, Miku the rhythm guitarist (red rose) formed the band. She had the idea of Band-Maid after working as a maid in Japanese maid cafe's. Her idea is a concept called "The Gap" - that is what you see (cute maids) is NOT what you get (Hard Rock/Punk/Metal). They take the maid café concept literally. They call their concerts "servings" and their fans "Masters and Princesses". Oh, and Miku is an 810 year old small pigeon. Welcome to the pigeon hole Po!
Thank You for the reaction (and for giving Roger a Chance 😆)! Those of us who show up down here LOVE BAND-MAID because they ALWAYS deliver! Amazingly tight band with off-the-charts musicianship. Wonderful, hard-hitting songs that NEVER sound the same, and in a wide range of genres. BUT, they don't scream... however, if that is your thing, you should check-out a couple other Japanese girl-bands: NEMOPHILA (try Rise), or HANABIE (they just played Lollapalooza 8/4, try OTAKU Lovely Densetsu).
It got a 9 out 10 because it caught you by surprise. It isn't quite in your comfort zone, but you found it awesome. That little conflict is what will make you check out more though. It is a challenge. How did a rock song manage to please your metal sensibilities? Well, I'm a metal head, Band-Maid tickled the rock bone in me, and the drums has a lot to do with it. They are aggressive, and that is what I like with metal. Shambles should be right up your alley as your next song 🤘

Energy levels off the charts, focus, and attention to detail. Killin' it every time! Here's the thing about the subject of genre... Band-Maid is totally metal... and pop... and rock... and... whatever genre they need the song to be to make it great. That's why you can't figure out why it's not a ten while not being metal... that's because it IS metal... and a ton of other stuff like icing on a metal cake. Or that's my take. Welcome to Band Maid! The best rock band on the planet (imo). I agree this is rock, they are a hard rock band. They don’t scream, but they can get a bit heavier. Check out Hate? Live, and Moratorium Live. I think you’ll dig them. Shambles MV is also pretty heavy. If you want an interesting Japanese Metal band, I’d recommend Hanabie “We Love Sweets” MV
Best band on the planet, super creative , the music is diverse, the musicians are super talented with Kanami the lead guitarist is one the best composers on the planet. The singer has a great voice and they love performing for their fans whom they also don’t take for granted as many bands do. Dive into the pigeon hole you won’t be disappointed.

I suggest you take a look at their YT channel where you will find all the videos you want, even the very recent ones (I recommend "Soldier stands solitarily" LIVE). Personally I am a fan of both Band Maid and Lovebites, according to their different musical genre

The reason you couldn’t give it a 10? Because it was so unexpected and different from what you have been conditioned to like…it feels strange to love unfamiliar music. The industry is overflowing with dark, snarling and angry faces in bands who seem to have their logos designed by the same person. They appeal to the same emotions.

Two of my favourite things. First time reactions to Band-Maid and especially to this song. It's an excellent introduction to them, because the Maidiacs know there's way more to them.
Welcome to Band-Maid! The best hard rock band I have heard in my 58 years on this planet. They don't stick to any one genre and often mix genres in songs. They are extremely diverse and have an extensive back catalogue featuring Punk, Pop-Punk, Hard-Rock, Classic Rock, Metal, Prog, Blues, Jazz, Groove, Rap etc. From face melting 220 bpm punk-prog mayhem to ballads, instrumentals to acoustics they do it all. They can make you headbang, they can make you pogo, they can make you cry like a baby. They are also five of the nicest people in music, without a shred of ego. They are funny and fun and world class musicians to boot. They are currently into their 11th year with the original line up.
No need to filter Band-Maid MV's, they support reactors and often watch them. Just stick to official MV's or official live MV's and you are golden.
Btw, Miku the rhythm guitarist (red rose) formed the band. She had the idea of Band-Maid after working as a maid in Japanese maid cafe's. Her idea is a concept called "The Gap" - that is what you see (cute maids) is NOT what you get (Hard Rock/Punk/Metal). They take the maid café concept literally. They call their concerts "servings" and their fans "Masters and Princesses". Oh, and Miku is an 810 year old small pigeon. Welcome to the pigeon hole Po!

Thank You for the reaction (and for giving Roger a Chance 😆)! Those of us who show up down here LOVE BAND-MAID because they ALWAYS deliver! Amazingly tight band with off-the-charts musicianship. Wonderful, hard-hitting songs that NEVER sound the same, and in a wide range of genres. BUT, they don't scream... however, if that is your thing, you should check-out a couple other Japanese girl-bands: NEMOPHILA (try Rise), or HANABIE (they just played Lollapalooza 8/4, try OTAKU Lovely Densetsu).
It got a 9 out 10 because it caught you by surprise. It isn't quite in your comfort zone, but you found it awesome. That little conflict is what will make you check out more though. It is a challenge. How did a rock song manage to please your metal sensibilities? Well, I'm a metal head, Band-Maid tickled the rock bone in me, and the drums has a lot to do with it. They are aggressive, and that is what I like with metal. Shambles should be right up your alley as your next song 🤘

This is what makes we Madiacs love Band-Maid... they are always all-in on every single song. Energy levels off the charts, focus, and attention to detail. Killin' it every time!
Here's the thing about the subject of genre... Band-Maid is totally metal... and pop... and rock... and... whatever genre they need the song to be to make it great. That's why you can't figure out why it's not a ten while not being metal... that's because it IS metal... and a ton of other stuff like icing on a metal cake. Or that's my take.

Welcome to Band Maid! The best rock band on the planet (imo). I agree this is rock, they are a hard rock band. They don’t scream, but they can get a bit heavier. Check out Hate? Live, and Moratorium Live. I think you’ll dig them. Shambles MV is also pretty heavy.

They don't have screaming but Shambles is a borderline metal song

Best band on the planet, super creative , the music is diverse, the musicians are super talented with Kanami the lead guitarist is one the best composers on the planet. The singer has a great voice and they love performing for their fans whom they also don’t take for granted as many bands do. Dive into the pigeon hole you won’t be disappointed.

However, If you like strictly power and thrash metal music, there is another fantastic all -female Japanese band called Lovebites, five ladies extremely talented and skillful. I suggest you take a look at their YT channel where you will find all the videos you want, even the very recent ones (I recommend "Soldier stands solitarily" LIVE). Personally I am a fan of both Band Maid and Lovebites, according to their different musical genre
