      I agree. One of the LAST "deeds" I did before leaving my last 210 as TCIC (and ships systems manager) was to "acquire" enough computer (back then, it was known as a standard work station) parts to put together a system for the Jack-of-the-Dust to have his own setup. There was this little room right next to the galley and just off the messdeck (no, not the old MARS room) where I set it up. A monitor, a CPU w/mem module, and graphics slice for the color monitor I "traded" for. The ET's were nice enough to run me a network cable to said room. The FSC was VERY VERY happy for this parting gift. Always take care of your cooks. Besides the Radioman/Telecommunications specialist, they are the MOST important person on the ship! 73's

The rest are transferred to foreign navies and these ships are making a huge differences in their capabilities and versatility for the better. They might be old but still strong. Interesting video; I enjoyed it! By the way, you mentioned that you can send mail home when you get to a port...is it possible to receive mail from home? It's hard to imagine mail following you around wherever you go, but it seems they were able to do that back in WW2 so I thought I'd ask.

    • @tc1uscg65
      @tc1uscg65 4 роки тому

      @@AlanaReynolds_RealEstate Wow, things have changed. I've been out since 1999 and we got inbound mail when we could. We were lucky though. We were out of St Pete (Resolute) and we'd get our mail sent over to the A/S who would bring it down to GITMO when we would come in to fuel, supplies, etc. Or if we were operating close, we would have our helo go in and get it during a LE flight. When I reported aboard, I flew down to Cayman Island to meet the ship. I filled my seabag with all the mail (and ship part) and took it with me. I had already shipped my uniform items before reporting aboard and before the Resolute departed on patrol (I was in transit) so I tried my best as TCIC to ensure mail was waiting for us in GITMO or where ever we were going.

On of my tours as TCIC on a 210 I use to say that to this QMCS who couldn't handle being a sand peep for more then a week. Though he use to correct me, I didn't tell him I did it on purpose, but I'd tell him if he couldn't be bothered to use proper radio procedure (he use to say things like "How me over" or "Wait one" all the time) or screw up security broadcast when we were doing a shooting exercise. But hey it was a under the radar rib jabbing we use to do to each other. All in fun..

    Respect to all the puddle pirates and Pretend Navy. Pretending to be the Navy since 1790- Coast guard.

      ummm... you do realize there was no US Navy in 1790. The US Navy disbanded in 1785 and didn't come back until after the (now known as) Coast Guard had been protecting American waters for a bit

      Yea, I’ll bet you didn’t do 6 tours in the Bearing Sea, like I did. 40’ seas. The Navy was afraid to go there. That’s OK, stay in the South Pacific, where it’s nice and warm.

      Thats kinda funny because all the Navy wives and girlfriends would tell us Coasties that they have pretend husbands and boyfriends while you dudes are out on a Wespat

      Many NAVY personnel that did not have such attitude told me they wished they had joined the USCG.

    Really! If your going to do a video, be professional. You don’t need to complain or show things that don’t work. Take time and explain as an example in the galley, how food is made, where it’s stored, the different equipment used etc.
