I’ve been told that you if you need to buy DuraAce, then you don’t need it. And the reason for that is if you did need it, a sponsor would provide it to you.
I started with a Batavus Dutch branded bike with Shimano RSX 7 speed ('95). Switch to a better carbon bike Bianchi ('07) with DA 7800. Upgraded later to hidden cable 6700 Ultegra ('20)..Doing now to a new Bike Merida With mechanical 105 12 speed. I do race and realized that DA are for sponsored teams and riders. I have a regular day job & a household 😂 so I'm more aware now. I've always loved the mix and match options of Shimano. I'm looking forward to swap to 105 Di2 shifter and derailleur in the future.
Oh Oh! Changed my triple 42 to a 48-38-28T for more speed now my front derailer is wrong. This upgrading of an old cheap "mountain" bike is not working out.
Clarity for delivering the content at its BEST,👍👌🙂Thank you so much.

Exact
Only poors say this
Not fully agreed @@pigupigu I had DA 7800 back in the days. But realized that it's not needed to ride your bike.
Nice work

Waiting until they muddy all of this with Cues
I think you mean simplify! CUES will take a lot of the guess work out from the lower tier groupsets and increases cross-compatability.
Watch “Ask a Mechanic” by Art’s Cyclery. Way shorter and answers the question with more detail. This video is just fluff
