Yes that's true, but that was in 2019 prior to the new UK and EU laws took effect concerning Android boxes and IPTV services. If you recently purchased this box, it most likely it would now have a firmware that's not rooted and possibly HDCP 2.2 protection to prevent persons from pirating over the air channels. So if its now not rooted the only way you can get it rooted is if you get your hands on the older firmware from 2019. Obtaining practical channels is difficult, and if it is done, the signal will disappear. And if you turn off the device and turn it back on, you will not find any saved channel in addition to the absence of a signal for the moon. I suffered a lot from this problem and still, although I upgraded the device to the latest version 27/5/2002.

this is not a review since you havent even noticed that the tv has tons of problem with ac3 audio tracks ( you can't even change the volume level , it stays fixed, and no i dont mean on optical but on hdmi ) and when u watch a chanel with ac3 track the u go to see a channel on iptv or a multimedia file the audio is gone unless you reboot . the point of an hybrid box is to use tv and with this on the exprecience is more than frustrating . and i want to POINT OUT this "review" is of 2019 ............................and the issue is not fixed yet in 2021 and never will be cos mecool doesnt give shit about customers , afteral they have already got the money !
Sure you have to have the correct firmware .img file from Mecool to upgrade. Let's start with that, do you have a firmware you would like to up date to?

Yes sorry about but apparently DVD does not work where I live. I was hoping it did, I would have made great review of it.
No need to change antenna source. Just click on the channel you want to watch. It may take a second or two to change but give it a chance.

the VLC player and Kodi. In the VLC player in the settings area set hardware acceleration to full, and audio settings to passthrough.

No it can't and they never will. That is because they have already stopped production on this box and moved on to many others. This was 2019.
