After an hour of arguing I remembered that I had a screenshot proving that I declined the work. Don't play with me. 😠 Keep your receipts and screenshot everything!

One commenter claimed that the old lady distracted it and the poachers got its baby. I haven't verified it, but I kept thinking no matter what, that woman did something and I'm 💯 with that elephant.
Don’t know if it’s true or not but… I read somewhere that she used to work with poachers by throwing rocks at the elephant to distract her while poachers would steel the elephants babies… that definitely warrants murder and desecration of remains in my humble opinion.

I love that you brought up reading being a punitive thing and pushing kids away from it as a consequence of that. I've always loved reading and my mom always let me choose out of her collection and even made the library a fun excursion. Contrast that with school where reading the "Classics" often became a chore and bored me to tears. It really is about the framing.
my child saw me reading all the time; made reading fun! made books fun gifts for no occasions, almost weekly...also incorporated oral story telling some nights instead of reading. now i have an avid adult reader!
I love the history and the book recommendations. They are literally running the same plays that they always do and the more that you go over the history, the more that I see that they would want to suppress it. When you went over the school portion, it reminded me that Texas is trying to mess up education in its state.

I'm 32 and I remember the news of older people finally graduating when I was in middle school because they weren't able to finish getting their education when the schools closed. You'd think, being next door to Prince Edward, we would've been taught about all of that in school but I only had one teacher who mentioned it off the record
