Seven stories featuring the blind detective Max Carrados, one of the most popular "rivals of Sherlock Holmes", created by Ernest Bramah in 1913. Narrated/performed by me, Simon Stanhope, for Bitesized Audio on UA-cam. These stories are already available on the channel as individual uploads (originally recorded episodically between 2021 and 2024), but I've put this anthology together for those who like a longer listen. Story timestamps: 00:01:28 The Coin of Dionysius 00:40:07 The Tragedy at Brookbend Cottage 01:38:15 The Last Exploit of Harry the Actor 03:02:35 The Missing Actress Sensation 04:10:45 The Comedy at Fountain Cottage 05:12:17 The Secret of Dunstan's Tower 06:14:10 The Ghost at Massingham Mansions Story teasers and more information about the author can be found in the video description.
Oh wow❤ I'm flabbergasted ❤ Soooo much Max. Ive listened to all of these before but to lounge around all day and enjoy them as a whole? So enjoyable.💞 Thank you Simon 😁🎉⭐😍🤩
Nah - I'd love to see them dramatized for TV (I'd have to hunt down an appropriate actor from the descriptions.) Knowing that there are still over a dozen more stories out there makes me happy. Of course, I also found Jeremy Brett, Basil Rathbone, and Leonard Nimoy attractive when I was listing 'celebrity crushes'.
Simon Stanhope. His voice is so good that one is simply carried into the world of the story, and the narrator forgotten. What an antidote to the awfulness of the real world today!
Would absolutely love to hear you do one of Margaret Ann Hubbard's book. Can only find Librivox version. Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful talent with us ❤
I was curious so even though it was maddeningly annoying... I found the timestamp you mentioned. I'm just hearing some narrative. Not anyone speaking. What am I doing wrong, lol?!?

You are excellent Simon. Perfectly suited for the genius Carrados. Still can't beat Sherlock & Doctor Watson though.
