I found a photo from a fellow genealogist of a 3rd G- Grandfather of my boyfriend. The resemblance was amazing! Blew my mind! I was looking at my boyfriend!! And, yes, be careful of other genealogists photos! I have a distant cousin who insisted the photo he found was THE photo of our 2nd G-Grandfather from Scotland. He was adamant. I told him he was blind. Fortunately, we had a photo of this gentleman's father. So, I made a photo comparison page for him to view all the men in that sides of the family and my father, who resembles his own grandfather. Whew a lot of work.

I have a few of the old cardboard photos from the 1800s of my gg-grandparents and several of their children. I was so grateful to scan them into Family Search and Ancestry, since I'd always wanted to share them, but didn't have a way to. I've since seen them on other people's sites, and that's so nice.

I found something it wasnt a photo but my grandparents original marriage lic. the registers office still had it on file as they never picked it up, at that point it was 81 years old, I was soooo excited.

I have asked the family members that "Kept Grandma's albums in the family", OY! They aren't able to retrieve them from the attic to scan for me. :( I have turned to Facebook groups and Google searches. I was interested at one point in my great-grandma when women were given the right to vote, so I did a search about it. I can't remember the search string that I used, but I hit a run of good luck. While I didn't find any photos of my great-grandparents, I did find photos of my great-grandpa's parents! I was so happy that I just sat here staring at my screen, crying my eyes out. :)
I still haven't been able to find any of my maternal grandma's parents or of my bio paternal grandparents, but I have several now of generations further back, thanks to very distant cousins on both sides of my family. I have or have seen photos of grandparents and great-grandparents through the daddy who raised me. I'm named after his paternal grandma.
    Thanks for your great videos!

My grandfather, who knew his own grandfather, had a photo given him by his mother with her father’s identification written by her on the back. Two other cousins (in distant locations) whose parents had never known this greatgrandfather) had two entirely different photos they insist is him. I seriously doubt it is him.

Interesting! You never know. I discovered an ancestor apparently shared photographs with family back east after she migrated out west.

@@LisaLissonAYMC Lisa, I tried these 3 photos in FamilySearch’s Compare-a-Face. One was said to be 92% like the photo my grandfather had, though he looked very little like the same person to me. The other photo was only 27% like the one we have. Wish I knew whether the 92% guy really was the same person and who this third guy is, maybe his son with the same name?

I've not done much with FamilySearch's Compare-a-Face. I use Ponga for facial comparisons. You might want to try there and see if you get similar results.
