Great playing and refreshing to hear the guitars played clean which is much more helpful than hearing them distorted. A real celebration of the Tele
I agree! This is a real demo for a change, not a wankfest w/ a dirt pedal.
The best demos show both clean, dirty and high gain. If you cleaned the wax out of your ears and used some headphones you would hear differences in the high gain demos.
I love his playing, I have watched this video ever and over again. Love his style, and combined with that Mexican tele it makes me just want to melt
Yep .. Going to pick up a very lightly used Mexican Special Edition Ash Tele w/ hard case for $300 today .. I've been playing for 34 years and this will be my first Tele..
This comparison is the best I've seen so far... great job Alamo!
Nice playing and good comparison, just goes to show that Teles are so consistent! I own several from the Squier up to a '52 reissue American Tele and love them all!
Absolutely love the figuring on that particular Mexico tele fingerboard.
Baja Tele. All sound great but the Baja is so versatile. Others have come and gone but my Baja stays put.
They all sounded great but i'm biased towards the Baja Telecaster 50's model. It's the best bang for your buck plus 6 different sounds that you can get out of it on the pickup switch alone. I also own a 72' Thinline Tele reissue (MIM) I'd love to try a 52' reissue American or elite someday buy those 2 tele's i have keep me quite happy. I love me some Tele's
Such amazing guitar playing! Thank you Mr. Cooper
The Mex has that ‘special something’...don’t know if it’s a little extra rawness or some kinda mojo-bite thing...but it’s the one that just sings to me in a classic old tele way. Excellent job on the playing too!👌
Love my FSR Mexican Tele good enough for this old guy
Ronald Johnston I have the same guitar (mine’s a 2016 FSR tele...also MIM)...and it is my favourite of all my guitars🤘
Very nice comparison; It really puts each guitar into perspective. Thanks
I'm approaching the double nickel (55) in a few months. My heart is leaning toward a baja. But the new players series looks interesting.
Not that it matters all that much, but I wish they all had the same coloration in the "butterscotch" finish. Some are much richer and darker, a couple are very light blonde. I like the darker, more orange-leaning finish. All beautiful guitars though. Been thinking of a Baja for a couple of years now.
Teles come in Vintage Blonde and in Butterscotch Blonde . The low end Tele , the Affinity , is Butterscotch Blonde but with a bit of orange in it . There are color variations through the line-up of each color as well .
Of course Teles also come in a variety of other colors , but the VB and BB are the most prominent .
Blonde of course was extremely fashionable in the 1950’s as in Blondewood furniture.
Herman Miller
Excellent musicianship, don’t have a Telecaster yet but hopefully soon.
Jesse: The Squire Classic vibe 50's Telecaster is as good as they get. Superb construction and they sound as good as any for $400.00
I have one.
Can't tell the difference. Every one of these guitars sounds incredible.
Great playing Cooper
Confirms my preference for the MIM tele sound; deeper and more interesting. Nice figured neck on that one, too. Anyone else notice the subtle variations in the shape of the headstocks? Surprising, given the widespread use of CNC routing machines...
Great comparison! Especially because you´re playing them clean ;)
I personally like the Am Pro the most - but please tune next time :)
Being as we are talking Telecaster, I would like to have heard them through a Twin or Bassman with the reverb turned up and some Don Rich style licks. Also, I wasn't able to see which models had which bridge.
Following that up. I really like the Baja.
I love his playing.
So do we! Just a good dude all around!
I got the 60s Baja the other day but in 3 color burst. Seemed everyone had the blonde so I figured be different.
Nice playing Cooper. Those Teles sound really good.
Nice.Playing it clean is much better.I can hear what it actually sounds like.
Best bang for buck though is the MIM road worn in VB. Nitro for < 1000 and an awesome neck. I'd love to hear it in this mix to compare to the rest.
Any Tele not USA made lacks that twang Teles are known for.
ive played several Tele's!! American standard, Mexican, 52 reissue, Graham Coxon model, pro series etc. and I ended up getting the Baja! :) it just has a vibe to it that grabs your attention, i'm one of those who likes the S1 switch :)
Gibson Weasel sounds very good in this video
I'd get the Baja tele if it had 22 frets neck
Gibson Weasel I
Great concept, great playing, great audio, but... the lighting, hard from only one direction with strong, dark shadows in a black-draped recording room, doesn't help. For example it's routinely very difficult to tell the position of the pickup selector switch, because the black cap of the switch disappears against the metal switch plate that reflects black drapes.
Amazing playing
I just bought the professional and I love it
Baja sounds the best to me, but all are really good sounding. Would have to play them all together to really gauge a preference.
Great video I have the pro coming this week
Amazing playing! Purchased a new American Professional, but I just couldn't get along with the neck and the ability to to get the action down where I wanted it. Traded for a new SG Std. and love it. Would still love to have a Tele that works for me!
THEY SOUND ALMOST EQUAL TO ME! MY "FAVOURITE" THE AMERICAN PROFESSIONAL THE "WORST" TO ME IS THE AMERICAN SPECIAL BUT WITH A NONRELEVANT DISTANCE. SOMEHOW UNBELIVEABLE THAT PEOPLE BUY MORE THAN A MEXICAN STANDARD...
Thank you for this very interesting video! In your opinion it’s better telecaster American performer or Vintera? Thank you again
I loved the American Special best but they all sounded great, I see one in my future.
Jim G - I have an American Special and it's awesome!!!
At home I have a Mexican Standard and an American Special... Both are really great guitars.
Great demo!
The last three sounded far more “interesting” to my ears than the first few. I think my favorite sound was the American original. But I know from experience that I hate the way they feel. They have those huge glossy necks.💩 The professional on the other hand... it feels AMAZING! Great vid guys!
Love my Baja
Great picking! I find myself finger picking electric guitars more and more...
Same here!
All sound great! But I would take the Elite and the Pro as top sounding..even if the Pro was a bit out in tuning during the demo. lol!
Man...hard to pick a clear winner. Throw the Squire in there for a little more confusion. I just don't think the high end Teles are worth it when it's this hard to tell them apart. Yes, I can hear it, but not for thousands of dollars worth of difference. A set up by a good luthier and I'll go low end...which is what I did. I play a Vintage V-52 and after a number of tweaks to get it right, this is the guitar.
Very good idea, thanks! A pity you did not put the same pickup on each guitar in a row because it'd have been easier to compare.
Mexican, Baja and American Original very nice to me. Thanks for the demo. Cheers.
Love the Baja!
I own the Professional. I find the treble bleed circuit totally essential. It plays you. Totally da bomb.
this the 7th guitar in my bucket list
Love my American 🇺🇸 Performer in Butterscotch Blonde 😎.
Only one I think was off was the Baja telecaster. The rest sounded good to me.
Essa é minha guitarra predileta Fender Telecaster profissional
Just bought the Mexican Tele. Black on Blond - Player Series with Alnico 5 single coil pickups. Hope it works out!.....????
I have my Special Edition Deluxe, Mexican, and I wouldn't change it. They all sound different, but there's not one better sounding than the others.
I see that the neck's look really good! I have not held one in my hand yet but it look's like birdseye.
I have four teles. When I was younger I didn't much care for them. Then while doing a gig some guy wanted me to play his tele for a set. I ended up playing it for the whole gig and at the end he was so drunk he sold it to me for $200, (it had retailed for $1100!). I've never looked back since.
Kind of a depressing story.
What?
You just told us how you took advantage of a drunk guy.
Oh nlow it out your ear! No one took anybody for anything. That's what he wanted for the guitar hwen I asked him for hios price.
I hear what you're saying. I'm glad you got a great deal. Sounds like the dude was pretty foolish to sell a guitar while drunk. Teles are wonderful guitars.
Song at 7:06?
Truly a great comparison video, thank-you. My gut feeling is that the young man playing these instruments could make a fart sound good!!!
And smell good.
I played an american pro natural in my local music store, that shit was scrumptious to play😋
Where's the '52 AVRI?
If only! We don't have one at the moment :(
Fender doesn't make the AVRI or the AV52 anymore. The American Original '50s Telecaster is the successor in the "classic blackguard" line. They are all similar models, though. The main difference between the AV52 and the AO50s is that the AV52 had vintage neck specs and vintage blonde finish, while the AO50s has a 9.5" fretboard radius and a butterscotch blonde finish.
I would like to hear some out of Japan if they make them. I would like to see a repeat playing on a 65 blackface Deluxe Reverb
I'm normally not the expensive guitar guy but damn that American Elite is breaking my heart!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
These noiseless pickups in my Elite Strat sounds a lil toneless. Not sure about Elite Tele though. Try it first before you buy.
I thought and felt strong nature from american made, mexico is beautiful, more chilling than others
Thought the player was Eric , lol sounds great ! Luv the Tele
Thanks!
Yeah, cuz that guy definitely looks 75 yrs old.
I have the American Professional. Hell, I just want to play as good as this man.
Which one would you choose? 🤔
Orange amp is killer. Guy looks like a young Clapton.
Wonderful tone...and yes butterscotch blonde si it
Is it
What song is he playing at the begging.
I want to know the same!
Sounds like something from curious George
They all sound great! If I could mix and match, I would want the neck of the Mexican, which looks like birdseye maple, and the body of the American professional...ash? Idk, but I think that would make a gorgeous Tele!👍😎🎸🎶
Fender Deluxe ash body FSR - aka - the Mexican 52- not featured here... is tonally crazy good and mine (not the best, but way under 1000) - other wise- the Baja grabs me. It just rings / twangs for me.. The American Special too... Oh, I just want one of each please!!!!
Baja Baby !
The neck on my starter pack Strat is just messed up, it looked like a banana... My local guitar centre tried fixing it, and while it got a lot better, they said they weren't able to get it quite right. They even needed to tighten the trem system to max in order to get it to sound decent, so now I have an unusable trem...
Planning to get a player series Tele now
Dont murder the tele and leave it in extreme/humid temps and lean it up against a wall like you did with the strat smh my head
if possible, send me the tabs of the songs you're playin. Great stuff, great guitar!
this guy plays stupid smooth
The American Professional wasn't in tune.
most of them sounded out on the B string unfortunately!
Yup. Definitely a funny G. He even knew it, look at that face on his first E chord lol
é essa guitarra que eu quero Fender Telecaster
Shrug. They all sound like perfectly good Telecasters to me. Hardly any difference at all in the sound.
Now, about the really important thing: the inconsistent butterscotch blond colour. It seems to me there are at least two colours by that name: more butterscotch like on the Mexican and American Original Teles, and blonder like on the rest. The Squier Affinity and Classic Vibe Teles are also different shades of BSB. Does Fender have a rationale for this? It's hard to believe they're just that sloppy about colour consistency with their finishes.
I think the idea is that both of the colors you mentioned and everything in between are all valid as 'butterscotch blond'. Original butterscotch telecasters vary based on how they aged and how thick the original finish was applied by fender which was not very consistent.
Interesting you say that I’ve always thought the same. The new Pro Tele is a real nice rich butterscotch. I’ve just sold a Squire CV in butterscotch, certainly paler!
That has always bothered me. Some one told me once there is blond, butterscotch and butterscotch blond. I really like the neck of the squier affinity telecaster even compared to fenders but it just looks orange to me.
Whats the first song played?
An original (:
@@AlamoMusic sounds great man! Reminds me a little of Upside Down by Jack Johnson
Thanks!
Wow. You made them allllllll sound good. Now I don't know what to get! Would have been cool to say which one you enjoyed playing the best and why n stuff. Thanks
We feel the same way! Have you had a chance to play them yet? Let us know if we can help you further. Give us a call at 844-251-1922.
Where is Squier Affinity Tele...comparison for it ?!
Something all of you should take note of...the Mexican Tele's and Strat's are all made on the original tooling and equipment that was shipped to Mexico from Corona along with a lot of knowledge transfer to the Mexican Builders. When you buy a MIM Fender it's the closest guitar to an original 50's and 60's vintage you can get.
With inferior electronics and a lower quality bridge assembly and fretting

Odd as everyone worked for me in multiple browsers. If you're copying and pasting, that could possibly be the issue since they're truncated in the description.
American special,,, I love mine,
MIM + Pickup swap Ftw
Love the Baja.....have one....the new vintera series tele isn’t the Baja.....finish isn’t correct..they stopped making Baja....I wonder why...mmmmm..the guitar is fantastic..
They put out another model that made them more money...
Baja had the best tone
I have the Baja, and it is a sensational guitar to play. I have pretty small hands, and the big(ish) neck doesn't bother me at all.
the Elite sounds really good here, but I prefer the simpler aesthetics (and much more affordable price) of my Baja. also, it sounds excellent...I want the 60's version now!
I agree. The Twisted Tele and Broadcaster pickups are hard to beat
should i trade a Gretch Tennessee rose for a fender elite
yes if in proper condition
I think I like the Mexican Telecaster the best
Cooper sure can play, but Chris is way more fetchin'. Woof.
I'm amazing whit baja!....Álamo cool!
Isn't the Baja Mexican made as well? hence the name?. The first one that you call "Mexican Telecaster" must also be a specific model, isn't it?
fender said the 50,s modern ventera tele is the same as the baja tele......
When did ‘Butterscotch’ become ‘Butterscotch Blonde’? And why?
I think the Squier Classic Vibe '50s Tele should have been included. IMO, the CV is better than the MIM and the Baja... They all sound good, though.
And where's the '52RI??
Luthiart ....damn right !
Mosstone Guitars
Hate that skinny little neck on the Squiers.
I dont like the thinner bodies on the squires.
The 52' reissue has been replaced with fender original 50's telecaster. They forgot to label it that here in this video. I like all the tele's however, eventhough his playing was nice. I failed to hear that good ole sound that the tele invented. That good ole rock bottom country twang. That sound called "The Bakersfield Sound" made popular by Merle Haggard, Buck Owens, Johnny Cash and Waylon Jennings.
50s. All the way.
Homeboy can play :p
Almost no difference to my ears. In a Bandsituation they all will be complety equal. No one in the world will be able to tell the difference on a live gig with a band or in a studio recording.
Feel free to correct me of you think I‘m wrong.
PS I‘m a Gibson guy. I have an es335, bought a mex Tele as a second/backup/ to have something from the other camp guitar... Played about 20 differnt Teles before I bought mine (Mex fsr ash Tele) Wasn‘t seeing one reason to spent more money than on a mexico one not even the 52 reissiue was a better guitar.
Y'all can call it Butterscotch Blonde till the cows come home - ITS A YELLOW GUITAR
YELLOW
Mexi sounds better to me
it was switched @1.31 rhat is why they zoomed in ti his head they think we are fool;s
