What a great idea! I was cheering you on from afar. I love the brass vases, marble everything and the chairs you bought! 😱

@@homegirlcreative Right? My husband is 53 and I'm 51 so we remember our moms and grandmas having brass in the 80's. I love it but he's so resistant and teases me about bringing it back. I've got some cool animals, some elephant bookends and talked him into installing a half black/ half brass light fixture recently. I love it ♥️

Tips and tricks are fun to share. Great finds. 🎉
You are right about going to thrifts stores very often to get the new stock that has come in. The best things come in and go out fast.😅
If you are not out thrifting, you can't find nice things.
You need to be out there if you can.
It also takes an eye to spot nice goodies.
    Everyone has different taste too.
I have been thrifting most of my adult life.
I love the thrill of finding treasure. Retail shops don't interest me.
I used to visit a certain small charity shop where I lived in my home country. They got in cool stuff daily.
I knew all the charity shops around me.
The lady who managed the shop said to me "the more often you come, the luckier you will be". 😅
It is so true. I laughed because I could have gone to that shop every day. Great things were being donated daily.
If you are not there, the dealers go in a grab all the good stuff.
I saw the same dealers going to all the charity shops I went to.
And I saw them selling at fleamarkets at high prices.
That is also why the prices have gone up. The charity shops and thrift shops know people are buying to resell. They want to make more money and push the prices up. Everyone wants to make money.
I understand resellers might not have a job and make that their job.
Charity shops and thrift shops get donations for free and should keep their prices low. They should make it possible for everyone to afford to buy things, especially the poor people.
The prices should not be pushed up to between 50 to 75 percent of what you would have paid for it new. Imo. 😅
You need to know what each thrift shop, antique shop, second hand shop, etc, sell and at what prices.
At some shops, I find the best clothes at cheap affordable prices, but home decor is too expensive.
So I only go there to mainly focus on clothes.
Or I know that an antique dealer I found off the beaten track sells really cool jewellery, so I go to him regularly. His vintage jewellery is great. Because I have become a regular, he gives me good prices. But he has strange operating hours or he doesn't open.
I don't like to haggle and bargain to drive prices down. I know people want to make fair money and I want a fair price.
    Give me your best price.
    If I can't afford it, I won't buy it.
I don't like it when people say to me what do you want to pay?
What I want to pay is as little as possible and if something is 20 euros, and I only want to pay 5 euros, I don't fall for that trick and tell the seller I want to pay 5 euros. Then they get upset.
People in Germany get upset if you insult them by trying to drive down their prices.
If they offer you a discount out of their own free will, that is great.
I remain polite and move on if someone asks me what do you want to pay?
    It is a trick.
If a person asks for a fair price, I will buy the item happily.
I can tell when something is overpriced or fair.
For home decor, I have another charity or social shop I go to to get beautiful things at great prices but the clothes and shoes are too expensive. 😅
You need to have several shops to visit in your area and know what type of goods they get in, and general prices.
I live in Germany now, and some of my favorite shops are very far away, but worth getting to. I have 7 shops all over that I love for different reasons.
The other thing that is important is to have a good eye, and know what your style is, and your budget, so that you try to hone in on what you like, rather than looking at everything.
Resellers look at mostly everything to see if they can buy the item to sell, and make a profit.
I also find great stuff at summer fleamarkets. Or village fleamarkets.
My trick is, I normally start on the outskirts of the fleamarkets where the not regular sellers sell their stuff.
You can get great bargains at fleamarkets.
I find the dealers or more permanent resellers get the best stalls in the middle of the market, but the prices of the goods are much more expensive.
Go to the outskirts and work your way in.
    I also test a seller.
I ask how much something costs that I like, and if everything is too high right off the bat, I am polite, but move on.
I know everything they sell will be too high for my budget.
I keep going until I find what I like, at the prices I can afford. It comes from years of thrifting. 😅
I don't like it when I can see something is old but the seller has racked up the price because it cost xyz back in the day. They want to get almost what they paid for it.
    Which is their perogative.
But I don't want to know what someone paid for something years ago, that is why they want such a high price now.
People do that alot in Germany.
If I want to buy something at retail price, I will go to a retail shop. 😅
I am always polite and friendly, but move on quickly.
Very often, people want to get rid of things from home, they have very nice things, they don't ask a fortune, and then I will buy alot from them.
Sometimes I am prepared to pay higher prices, it depends on what it is. Sometimes I have bought 10 items from one sellers, and they will sell me something I like at half the price they originally wanted. I am alwsys polite, friendly and respectful.
By being that wsy, many people have given me things as gifts for free.
I am super grateful and have kept everything I have been gifted.
Smiling, being polite, greeting, and being respectful go a long way.
Those sre my tips I can share.
There are lots of treasures to be found. Happy hunting everyone. 👋🤗💖

I volunteer at a large popular thrift store here and every day our stock changes. Also we have a lot of wealthy folks donating so we get a lot of good stuff, but we also get our share of yuckies. 😀

I live your tbrifting videos! Just wanted to respond to the challenge regarding the quality of store items 1:52 in your area. First, the thrifting is only as good as the other stores and populous in one's area. For instance, there are statistically higher amounts of Oregon Myrtlewood items created in your area than in the midwest. Even with mass-produced souvenirs and shipping, there will sill be more in your area. Therefore, there will be a greater proportion of Myrtle Wood in your local thrift shops. It is then, inherent that some areas will just have thrift stores that sell different things. Although frequenting thrift stores will enhance the chance of getting that score, it will not change the fact that items in one area of the country are just better than in other areas. Thank you.

That is a really good point and makes total sense! The thing I love about thrift stores is that there is “something for everyone” because even if there is something valuable on the shelves, it might not appeal to you. But it’s the that the more often you go, the more likely it is that you’ll find something you like 😊 thanks for watching and commenting! 💜
