Well yes Russia having an imbecile as a leader who invaded a country like Ukraine and having the west do what they can to help, is going to cause inflation but not sole cause, like Covid-19 and multiple upon multiple factors, but saying Russia or Covid has nothing to do with it is what a kindergartener would say.
@@ghjk4978 That's funny because everything in America is expensive now. But its been that way for a couple years now. Inflation has sky rocketed and has caused everything to go up in price. And now with Ukraine war we are just giving Ukraine insane amounts of money all while Americans are suffering and have no money.
I am fascinated that so many of the companies that claimed to pull out from Russia due to The Situation are returning now with new names....interesting 🤔
They're not returning owned by Western countries, but rather owned by countries such as China. The implication that everything is back to normal is not really accurate, as Russia will continue to be boycotted by most of the countries that produce products of higher quality. Just because a store opens with a new name, it doesn't mean things are the same.
@@erniebuchinski3614 For brands like McDonalds as example, all the resources are not imported of other countries, but from Russia itself. Once the company left, they rebranded it to another name, but the products were still exactly the same. No change in the quality, just the brandname.
Thank you for making this video. As an American I have been curious as to how the Russian people have been affected by sanctions imposed by western countries. I must say that from your video things seem to be not so bad (by standards I see in Boston, US). I was recently in grocery store and saw high end cuts of sirloin going for $57 a pound. With the war, covid and supply chain issues, Americans are paying a lot for everything. Currently it costs me $150 to fill up my Ford F250 pickup from E to F ($5 a gallon for regular gas). I hope things get better for you and all people across the globe when it comes to living well and affording the basics. I think Russia is a beautiful place with a beautiful culture. Again, ty for the video and hope you are well.
they are self sufficient thats why. western economy is based on export/import. if it stops prices raises. it cant happend if you are self sufficient due to earlier sanctions. all this war did is to make russia richer, and western poorer, they knew this. very effective
The COvID lockdowns? I live in Texas...we were locked down until June of 2020 and have been open ever since. It's scared other states that crashed their own economies.
@Nicklas Melander No, the situation was going on for 8 years, the Ukrainian army shelled and sniped at civilians in Donbass, killing 14 600 of them. The Ukrainian artillery ramped the fire up, days before feb.24. Scott Ritter provided evidence of a plan to attack and repossession of DPR and LPR territory.

It's no wonder that allowing Free Enterprise to continue would in some way cause even greater wealth. But who really is to credit for this, the politicians who allowed Free Enterprise to continue, or the many many millions upon millions of people who supported, participated, and circulated that system? The Russian People are the ones that deserve that credit. Putin didn't do anything genius at all whatsoever. It'd be a huge stretch to give one man credit for the energetic expenditure of MILLIONS of people over so many DECADES. I mean, even delusional. People want to believe in leaders, I get it, but if you really want to know who deserves credit for building Russia; it was The Russian People. If Putin can be thanked for anything now, it's turning Russia into a pariah-state, overnight! The Russian People had nothing to do with this, Putin can be thanked for that! That's an astronomical failure in foreign relations, and the only people it has hurt has been The Ukrainians and The Russians. The rest of the countries on earth who have been so dependent on Russia for energy are now becoming more insular, and will be producing it more themselves from now on. If anything, Putin can be credited for the aggrandizement of the UN's power (with previously neutral countries now applying for membership) and the separation of nation-states... those states who have separated itself even further from Russia and it's allies as a consequence. Svetlana, some of your grocery item are the same in the Philippines. Its is really affected us all in each of our countries to have this troubles caused by the Lofty politicians in the world. I hope we can find peace and safe for each of us.
People across the world are suffering in there own way, prices are getting to high, in everything, so every country of there people are suffering in some way,
Judging by your videos and those of others in Russia, it seems to me that the shortages and rising food prices there are about the same as those in the rest of the world. I don't know if you're aware of this or not, but there is a significant shortfall in food and fuel production affecting the entire planet this year. While the 'situation' between Ukraine and Russia is certainly contributing to that in a big way, it's far from the only cause. Climate problems, shipping issues, the situation in China... and much more are all playing a part in this growing disaster. It's all a giant, complex mess that doesn't seem ready to get sorted any time soon. We are all dealing with rising prices and shortages. It isn't only Russia. Unfortunately, things are very likely to get much worse before they improve.
You said it mate! I’m in Australia and things are tough already ESPECIALLY for lower income earners. Industries can’t afford running costs , builders are going bankrupt as they can’t source enough material to complete or even start constructions. Media has definitely turned all that towards Russia but I found these issues were faltering already from Covid lockdowns
All wrong. It is NOT 'the situation in Ukraine or China' that has influence, but the intervention of completely outsiders. No sanctions - no problems. Russia has never abandoned its trade, food or financial obligations and is the most reliable partner. The severance of relations with such a partner unilaterally led to crises.
We do not have a food crisis, I speak as a resident of the Urals, after a while the shops were filled with our Russian products, and they are not bad, the price-quality ratio is very good, the store shelves are full, and many Russian citizens have their own cottages, where they have their own vegetable gardens, I personally live in a private house, the prices for some products have grown, but now they are already falling, and some products are still expensive, but this is because of suppliers who bought too expensive. In fact, we are now living exactly the same as before February 22, only prices have increased slightly, by about 10-15%, although prices are still somewhere 50-60% higher than before
@@av1ra285 It's pretty much the same here as well. Food prices have increased dramatically across the entire country and there are occasionally items we have trouble finding. I'm not worried about those of us who can afford the price increases, I worry about those who were barely managing befor food prices nearly doubled. The people who are in serious danger are the poor in developing countries that have to import most of their food and don't have the money to compete for the increasingly limited supply. They could be looking at devastating famin in the near future. The rest of us are simply going to need to make a few difficult lifestyle choices. We aren't going to die of starvation.

I've been in Dominican Republic like 6 years ago, the prices were like 2 fold more expensive than in Russia while the countryside was looking more rundown. Especially Haitian parts. 98% of grocery prices are pretty much similar like in Serbia. And we are not under sanctions (so far). :) This is nothing. This is regular. Everything is in control. In Serbia under UN sanctions (leading by US and western countries) in early 90es stores were totally empty. No gas, no bread, no meat, no milk, no eggs, no medications in hospitals, many people died because they had no medications for like high blood preasure, diabetes, heart diseas etc. anesthetics only for kids and pregnant women (I had few minor surgery interventions with no anesthetics), shortage of electricity, shortage of fuel, inflation like 1000% daily. And we survived. Most of things we smuggled from neighbour countries like Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary...
Oh yeah, too bad it s not worse for them, the conditions you had in Serbia are very much right for Russia now. Pretty much what would need to happen for the leaders to be stopped and the genocide to stop.

Cheese and oil got super expensive the last 2-3 months, the same piece of cheese was 2,2$ before and now was 3,54$. Only a little piece. I saw the old and the new labels on it. Sunflower oil, if you are lucky and still have some stock of the cheapest is around 1,58/litre, but it’s more likely around 2$/per litre. But we have around 22% inflation on food products nowadays. It’s interesting because the of the first 1-3 months of the war the prices were the same, till around April-May then the prices gone up crazy. Also the USD and EUR are crazy they have 1,51% increase and decrease within hours, in December 1$ was 327HUF now it’s 380HUF. Euro was 367HUF, now we reached 400HUF for 1€.
Same in Sweden, prices are up in general. Inflation here is at about 12% so not as bad but given salary increases of about 2% it will get worse quickly. Funny how the decision-makers do what they do, reminding us this is nothing against the people and yet, it's the people that are affected most. Traditional happening when there's a "situation." Oh yes, loved the inclusion at the end of your difficulties with the "aspiring UA-cam star' of the woman. It made me laugh...sorry for your frustration, but...
Very professional video. I am impressed. Thank you for explaining the situation in Russia atm. It's good to have such vidoes to show the real situation, instead of our media here in Germany. Greetings to Russia. Thank you.
Yeah, that's we need to do as Russians. I always show how Russia looks like. While in movies they always show how Russia is full of old houses and cars, we have to show how modern Russia is. There are still many people think that Russia is just like what shown in the movies. Really. I live in Rostov on Don !

Very good your information Svetlana, so precise and clear. It is seen that the price of food is as expensive as everywhere due to the effects of the war. In Chile for example 1 Kg of sugar costs 1,200 chilean pesos, which is $US 1.4, and 1 Kg of bread costs approximately 1.4 dollars. On the other hand 93 octane gasoline costs 1,200 pesos, 1.4 dollars per liter, Kerosene for heating costs 1 dollar per liter. As you can see they are very similar realities. I wish you congratulations and success in your life. You are very sympathetic🌠🌹🌹

I feel very strongly that Sanctions against a nation for a situation like this is a dirty move. They should not punish citizens because one government disagrees with another government. Sanctions should become an extinct way of handling disagreements. Thank you for sharing this.
@@danyilnychka9490 I respect your point of view but I disagree. The average German isn't responsible for the holocaust. If we were responsible for all the government does than I would never vote for anyone as I feel if I'm responsible for other peoples actions I should just be in charge. Military issues should be handled by the military and leave the rest of the population alone. If every citizen is responsible for their governments actions than why are civilians not supposed to be killed in wars? If every citizen is held accountable for the actions of it's government that why not completely exterminate a nation because of a war they conducted we did not agree with? I'm painting a picture that your view can only go so far before it's clear there needs to be a difference between the common population and the people who actually made these bad decisions. Putin decided to launch a war in Ukraine in which innocent people have died, does that mean de facto every Russian citizen is guilty of murder? Line in the sand of what is appropriate and what is not.
@@bradcasper4823 Look, surface statement not getting any deeper than this, obviously we all feel bad for what is happening in Ukraine, but I do not believe a Russian citizen who does not believe in the war should be punished for what is happening. I think nations should find a way to target the higher ups in the government who approved of the war and spare the citizens who were innocent in it. Our approach is to "shotgun" the whole nation and it should be to "rifle" the very top is all I am saying.
Svetlana, Thank you for your updates. Just hearing your updates I'm so saddened by the fact that I don't know that I'll ever be welcome to visit your country. But with everything that's taking place I really don't see how I can come visit. Keep on making your videos we do enjoy them here in the US. Best regards, Bill
in south Africa, in a mall of 200 stores, you would find that just about five stores are foreign stores and the rest are south African. that is because we pride ourselves in buying our own goods coz that boosts our economy, creates jobs and makes us self-sufficient as a country. China is the most self-sufficient country in the world because they prefer their own brands instead of foreign goods. they have their own MacDonald's, kfc, google, twitter, watsapp, etc. in this day and age, countries should learn to be self-sustainable and self-reliant. When we were growing up, we used to think Russians were the most patriotic people in the world. Building your home starts with patriotism, you cannot build anything of your own if you do not begin by loving and being proud of your country. You cannot be proud of another's country, that is of no benefit to one.
@@thaw3converge5resoort comparing Russia with north Korea is like comparing USA with Congo because Usa has many black people LOL ... one place has absolutely nothing to do with the other, as everybody can see on the videos or having travelled to Russia, a country full of beautiful women, with cities like Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Sochi much safer and beautiful than sinkholes like New York, Detroit, Berlin, etc.
Your claim is bullshit, actually. China ist not by any means self-sufficient but dependent on western technologies and knowledge as well as African resources for its growth. South-Africa is not self-sufficient either but dependent on trade with the rest of the world just like any civilized country. Patriotism is not that good either. It led to a lot of wars in the world and more offen than not it leads to unneccessary frictions and conflicts between countries. The state is not more important than the individual nor makes patriotism and being proud of a country a country wealthy and good functioning. Patriotism just makes you ignore all the bad things of your country, which in the end results in biased and illusionary thinking where even corruption and wrong decisions are framed as no big deal while in fact they are.
@@efkliaathanassiadou233 , i take it you did not read my comment coz I said china is the most self-sufficient country in the world. The word "most" means in comparison☝🏾. This means in comparison with Japan, america or the UK, china is the most self-reliant country. The same goes for south Africa and everything I said giving correlations. Regarding your scepticism on patriotism, it is not patriotism that causes wars, it is stupidity☝🏾. Stupid people do stupid things regardless of patriotism or not. On the bright side, patriotism drives people to build their own country and care for their own. Patriotism pushes leaders to not steal from the public but use public funds to improve lives. Look at china and patriotism today; they build and continue to build china to be the best in the world without starting wars anywhere. You can hardly see Chinese military in any war outside of China, but you will find American and European army in every war in the world. Europe and America start wars in the world and maintain wars in the world and china does not do that coz their patriotism does not allow them to intervene in matters outside of their country other than for mutual benefit

the new Russian cars produced by AvtoVaz since the departure of the Westerners are making the whole world laugh. Harder to make than cheeseburgers, eh?
With reference to the end of the video - which was maybe the the most entertaining part of the video - I think that the supermarkets should reduce the selection of vodka - or just restrict that specific woman from those products. Fuel prices in my country is almost 3 times as high as in Russia, but I think our economy Danish/Russian is not really comparable. Danes are (if fully taxed on income on working wages) taxed at a rate of 52-56%, Russians are taxed at a rate of 13-15% (Russian domiciled taxpayers)(to my knowledge).
@@nxtilmicin That is expected, To continue my example there is a 25% VAT on every thing you buy in Denmark. If one buys a car there is the 25% VAT and a 150% punitive tax on top... So say you earn a modest salary and need a car to go to work - the new (typically financed) car could then bring your effective tax rate to above 100% in the year you buy the car. And there is no price control on any goods.

I've been in Dominican Republic like 6 years ago, the prices were like 2 fold more expensive than in Russia while the countryside was looking more rundown. Especially Haitian parts. Don't know why, you guys are living in a tropical paradise with the summer year-round and have to spend less money on infrastructure upkeep and do basically nothing to grow food, yet you fairing worse than a country which basicaly have to do complete restoration every spring. And the cigarettes... your entire country is up into tobacco business, cigares are like national ideas, yet all tobacco was 5 fold more expensive than in Russia. WTF? Also, what whas very noticeable, you have a lot more class segregation than in Russia: there's dedicated districts for the poor, rich and so on, the impression is challenging dramatically once you cross the wrong street. In Russia it's kinda mixed up and less obvious. And then of course annoying US students using your country for drunk and drug weekends. Also what was unsettling, you need just 8 hours to reach the other end of a country by car. More, you just need 2 hours when you cross it the other way! Feels claustrophobic.

98% of grocery prices are pretty much similar like in Serbia. And we are not under sanctions (so far). :)
This is nothing.

People are responsible for their government and its actions
@@danyilnychka9490 I respect your point of view but I disagree. The average German isn't responsible for the holocaust. Military issues should be handled by the military and leave the rest of the population alone. If every citizen is responsible for their governments actions than why are civilians not supposed to be killed in wars? If every citizen is held accountable for the actions of it's government that why not completely exterminate a nation because of a war they conducted we did not agree with? in south Africa, in a mall of 200 stores, you would find that just about five stores are foreign stores and the rest are south African. that is because we pride ourselves in buying our own goods coz that boosts our economy, creates jobs and makes us self-sufficient as a country.
Well said mister. Greetings from Mexico lindo y querido!!
@@christianmarriott3696 , may be, but also check the chinese equivalent of KFC.
I really valued that, thank you.
It's very reassuring not only to me but so many others around the world to see that your ok.
I think it very important to tell us when your not , there's a community out there ....
Many of us dont want Russians to be okay at all until they leave Ukraine.
It is their own choice to stop killing us and they can choose it.
They deserve no sympathy for the consequences of their own horrible actions.
@@UhtredOfBamburgh I get that. I truly do.
" There are other worlds than these "
I see some off them , aspects off others and it pulls me forward toward a day when I can see it all...

After watching the video it seems sanctions or no sanctions politicians everywhere in the world are taking advantage of the war to tax people price shown in the video are not very much different in India, petrol is more expensive here than in Russia Indian currency RUPEE is at its lowest against the dollar Inflation is above 7% despite the harsh sanctions everything is available in Russia as shown in the video
St Petersburg looks lovely. The long daylight very cool to see. Interesting to see the business returning, & selling to china business. Actually our petrol prices are high as well. Affects supply & food prices all over the world. But thats skmall orice to pay right? Thanks again 😍
Lol that drunk lady was so annoying! I loved that you left it in. Thanks for the update, I hope that because some brands have reopened, that means that the situation is improving for all of us xx
the new Russian cars produced by AvtoVaz since the departure of the Westerners are making the whole world laugh. Harder to make than cheeseburgers, eh?
Chinese companies replacing the American ones, but keeping the same or similar names.
The situation is not improving. It's getting worse. Because money is more important than people. Sad.
Ignorant af... Its all about money. NOTHING improves. its disgusting.
you are very kind, thanks for your videoooooo
With reference to the end of the video - which was maybe the the most entertaining part of the video - I think that the supermarkets should reduce the selection of vodka - or just restrict that specific woman from those products.
Fuel prices in my country is almost 3 times as high as in Russia, but I think our economy Danish/Russian is not really comparable. Danes are (if fully taxed on income on working wages) taxed at a rate of 52-56%, Russians are taxed at a rate of 13-15% (Russian domiciled taxpayers)(to my knowledge).
there are a lot of hidden taxes on income. Russian analysts have established the real taxation rate to be at about 35-38%.
@@peders.3303 fair enough, but i'd argue you get more in return for your taxes, and I have a personal dislike for cars sooo...
