F-22 Total Air War • Wild Weasel (sort of)

I flew several CAP missions and gained some points to increase my rating. So now I can take part in more demanding missions.
For this video I opted for a Wild Weasel task for upcoming strike mission. Interestingly our package will consist of 2 Wild Weasel flights along Strike and Escort flights. Funnily enough there were basically no ADF threats, probably taken out by previous sorties. That's why it's better to just load up on Mavericks instead of HARMs - you can take out almost everything on the ground with AGM-65s, including parked aircraft on the nearby airbase ;)
Also keep in mind when playing the campaign in TAW it's important to get back to base, even if you fail your mission. If you don't you will recieve negative score, and if you do you will always get some points for bringing the bird back (50% score).
So, eventhough this was supposed to be a Wild Weasel sortie, we basically acted as Escorts and S&D Interdiction Strikers.

Great video! Oh how I miss TAW. I had it on my pc until with the advent of later versions of Windows I could no longer run it. I've tried to find the latest version that will run on Windows 10 but to no avail. If only someone would update this it would - to coin a phrase - make an old man very happy.

Alone the sounds make for a thrilling menacing athmospere during combat, DID knew how to do that, they could have done a better job with the cockpit though

For the time I think they did allright with the cockpit. It was the early times of virtual 3d cockpits. Other sims from the time that featured 3d cockpit were Jane's F-15 (which still used 2d cockpit for most work) and Falcon 4 (same as F-15), so having 3d cockpit as a primary view was pretty bold. They did the same with EF2000, so I consider them pioneers of introducing 3d cockpit as primary view. The only other flight sim that did this at the time was Joint Strike Fighter, which pretty much copied it from EF2000.

@@damsonn very true, but they did better in Ef2000, in the F22 there isn't a single letter or marking in the cockpit, looks flat and boring. Terrain was very flat too. Technically the game was fine
