For example, Gaunt's Ghosts follows an Imperial Guard legion's soldiers in a gritty story reminiscent of Sharpe's Rifles or Band of Brothers. Meanwhile, the Ciaphas Cain books do a similar thing in following an Imperial Guard Regiment, but from the perspective of an Imperial Guard Commissar with a deep case of imposter syndrome, and plays it as a dark comedy. Basically, this universe is vast, and you can engage with it as deeply as you like, and in pretty much whatever method you like. Have fun.

Funnest fact is that sometimes they regain their memories and sentience…
I really really really recommend “every warhammer 40k faction explained: part 1 and 2” by bricky. My favorite vids for beginners into warhammer lore! Long videos though, but they’re so good
So about Horus glitching joke, no the one who was first was Alpharius who's entire legion is about being James Bond/Agent 47 and just cosplaying as other people. Also despite him growing up on Earth he didn't really interact with Big E rather his best pal Malcador (Emperor is considered one of the worst fathers of the century, while Guiliman the best dad of the century)
Bricky has probably the best introductory style videos for WH40k, some of his older videos now have outdated info since they were released years ago, but I wouldn't worry too much about that. The point is to learn and enjoy!
In short there a very cool factions for each race with very interesting characters lately, the Necron , the Tau the Orks all of them have very fascination characters. Warhammer is truly a VAST world that when you look in to it you will 100% find things you love or hate. Anyone can be a part of it who loves stories and there are so many factions and viewpoints to experience it
Moving forward: There is very little you can take literally in 40K lore because: 1. It constantly updates and retcons 2. A LOT of lore is written to be taken as in-universe propaganda (especially if it's Imperium or T'Au) 3. A LOT of lore is from first person perspectives, which are limited in scope 4. A LOT of lore is split in pieces
At 20:20, when he says that there is 18 primarchs instead of 20 is because of the missing/lost primarchs. One of the biggest mysteries of 40k, and by far the most popular, is of the history and current whereabouts of the 2nd and 11th primarchs. Trust me, that's a rabbit hole in of itself. It's been a topic of discussion for decades and will probably never be revealed by GW.
Welcome to 40k and the grimdark! As already mentioned, there are no “good” guys in the setting. Just different levels of gray. Except for Dark Eldar, definitely on the bad end of the scale. But the thing with 40k that I like is that it’s the desperate struggle against the dying of the light. From a wide perspective the factions all do something reprehensible. But on the personal level, they are just fighting for their family, for their city, for their race. It’s those stories that shine bright within the grimdark world of 40k. Checkout Helsreach, Richard Boylan made a 2hr film adaptation of the book by AD-Bowden which is one of the best (my personal favorite) 40k story. “Rage, rage against the dying of the light”
Welcome to the grimdark! You've taken your first step into one of the greatest sci-fi settings ever made and there is so much for you to learn. There's something for everyone in this universe and we're happy to have you. I highly recommend you watch Bricky's every 40k Factions Explained video before watching his Every Space Marine Legion in a nutshell so you have the full context. Once again, welcome and we're happy to have you.
Great reaction, seeing new folks taking a deep dive into the lore and getting hooked on the vast history of 40k always brings a smile to my face. Reminds me of younger me, twenty-something years back, reading my first book about Ragnar Blackmane from the Space Wolves. Ricky has produced some fine videos to introduce this fantastic universe to new people, love it.
Warhammer is just one of the many examples of how great dark fantasy/sci fi can truly be. Warhammer, Dark Souls, Berserk, etc. all things that have built off of eachother in ways, they do fantastic at building worlds that are just vile. Some of the most hopeless, heartbreaking, gut wrenching, and disgusting things happen to people on the regular, yet it is the ultimate beauty to see stories of real emotion told through these lenses.
Something I never noticed until multiple times watching this. When he says Horis is the first found and makes that face. I always thought it was a nod to the upcoming Horus Herasy. I didn't realize it was a nod to the claim by Alpharius that he was the first found. It even flashes between Horus and Alpharius several times.
Next Bricky videos to watch in order: - Every Faction Explained 1+2 (these are outdated, and he gets a couple of things wrong, fair warning) - Every Space Marine Legion Explained - Darktide review - How well does Darktide do Warhammer? (This focuses more on how Darktide implements lore)
A few brief points of order that Bricky kinda glosses over, or which have changed since the video was made. The Old Ones were likely far nicer about the rejection of the Necrontyr than indicated. While we know very little about them, they are generally regarded as benevolent beings who valued all life, but who favoured long term selective breeding as a means of genetic manipulation rather than direct gene editing. So most likely, they couldn't do it in the time tables the Necrontyr WANTED, and weren't willing to compromise on speed. Second, there were 20 Primarchs. 2 of them (the 2nd and 11th) were expunged from all records prior to the Horus Heresy, for reasons unknown. Psychic blocks were even put on the Primarchs to prevent them from talking about their missing brothers, and their memories of why were actively erased. This becomes a running gag in further videos. Third, Horus wasn't unable to break through the defenses of Terra. We now know that not only had Horus basically won, but he actively started to pull the solar system INTO the Warp. We now know that the only reason the Emperor won was because Horus LET HIM, rejecting the Chaos Gods at the last moment and choosing annihilation rather than to be their slave.
“That’s is fuckin sad…that is fucked up” yeah there you go your getting it. Also you should watch brickys video going over each space marine chapter. Even if your favorite faction isn’t space marines it’s good knowledge to have
For that whats happening there is a theory that Alpharius of the 20th legion was actually the first found but as that legion was always meant to be spies he was kept in waiting until he could be revealed as the last while examining all the other primarchs
What you have to understand about 40k is that faith has power so if you don't believe in the Emporer then in all likely hood you will end up believing in something much worse. In 40k you don't pray to the Emporer for absolution you pray for his protection because the night dark and full of terror's.
"The THEME of Warhammer 40K is regression and intolerance." And they wanted to make the Warhammer 40K show more 'Tolerant' The people have no idea of their source material.

man she even don't care the Lore she doing this for money and attention she even don't watch whole video at the end of it he recommends books from the world of w40k
The Orks "Waaaaghhh, love run and gunning comedy punching bags" But they weren't like that before they were known as Krorks more level-headed competent and about 12 meters tall and has technologies that can contend to the Stargods and Aeldari... Forming an alliance with the Aeldari was a mistake they've poisoned their bloodlined and most of them are a bunch of midgets and kids in the modern setting
The lore can be overwhelming, but if you're considering getting into the books, I highly recommend starting with the first 3 horus heresy books: Horus Rising, False Gods, and Galaxy In Flames. They are amazing and the whole Horus Heresy series is available on Audible. I don't read shit, and I am obsessed with these. Very well written and you realy care about the characters.
Bricky doesn't cover this very well in this video, but he has a recurring podcast called Adeptus Ridiculous if you want deeper dives The Eldar weren't bothered by murder and death like we were. Originally, when an Eldar died, their soul passed into the warp for some time, and then they were reincarnated back into the materium. It wasn't a permanent death like with other races. So killing each other was seen more as rude and inconvenient than anything else. However these deaths carried all of the Eldars emotions and psychic power directly to the warp in a much more concentrated way than when other races died, which is why all that excessive emotion birthed a god in the end. Also,it wasn't Slaaneshs birth that fucked up humanity,it was her gestation. Humanity was already doing it's thing, trading across the galaxy, when the ruinstorms made travel through the warp too dangerous and cut off humanity from itself. Her birth actually cleared the storms, and once again made warp travel possible Yes 18 sons. The galaxy is big,and there's over a million worlds to reunite. Could you imagine doing that with two? One that in a gigacoma for 10k years and another whose been lost in the warp for a while? That would be crazy right? ...right?
The Emperor was product of ancient psykers who saw dark future and sacrificed themselfs to born the perpetual Emperor. Who was supposed to be last hope for humanity.
If you are interested in knowing more of the timeline in 40k I recommend "The warhammer 40k timeline by Trazyn the Infinite" really good video and explanation of the timeline through the eyes of a Necron.
The entire reason to play as a chaos space marine that is unaligned with the four powers should be because of what the imperium has become. The Emperor didn't want any of this to happen. When one of his sons returns to life from stasis, he is immediately sticken with grief at what the empire of man has turned into.
The story of how the eldar fell is really interesting causeit really make me think about how we would behave if the whole of humanity never have to worry about food or shelter and everything you want is at your fingertips. What do you do with all that freedom you don't have to work all labor has been completly automated all known sickness has been cured you can go any where do anything. And how long before all of that becomes boring.
I recommend the Rogue Trader CRPG if you want to play a game that shows the true faces of the world of Warhammer 40K. It has great writing and help boxes to explain terms
“Wait!? He’s ten feet tall and millennia old?! That’s not a man that’s a god!” Lorgar agrees with you. Seems obvious. Glad you’re a Word Bearer at heart like me. 😅
Thank you for the warm welcome! ☺️ Most people have been really nice and have been giving me video and reading recs which I’m grateful for. I’m really excited to go deeper into the Warhammer universe!
Spoilers explaining the "20... 18 Legions" joke below. There were 20 legions and 20(actually 21) Primarchs. 2 Legions and Primarchs were erased from history, the legions likely merged into other Space Marine legions (would explain the size of the Ultramarine Legion). Because of it's secracy it is joked that the inquisition will erase you if you acknowledge the existence of those 2 Primarchs and their Legions. The out of universe reason is so that when you make your space marine chapter, you can write your own story/history for the Primarch and legion that your chapter descends from. The Primarch of the 20th Legion, the Alpha Legion, is Alpharius Omegon and they were the last** found of the Primarchs. They are in fact the Twins, Alpharius and Omegon. **One of the twins was potentially found before Horus, making Alpharius Omegon the first and last found Primarch in line with the first and last letters of the Greek alphabet, Alpha and Omega. The Alpha legion has more secrecy, deception and mysteries than any other legion/Primarch. The Primarch(s) would usually go around appearing as just a normal Alpha Legion Space Marine, who themselves look very alike. As such there is a theory that there were 3 Primarchs, that Alpha legion has infiltrated everything, that the legion is actually loyal and running a deep cover infiltration of chaos, etc...
The Warhammer lore goes very deep. But it’s not all doom and gloom, even though a lot of it is pretty dark. Most is told from the Standpoint of the Empire of man, and you can take that for propaganda most of the time, but it’s very enjoyable, and will suck you in. Good luck on your journey

There are also tons of books, that span from the serious to the comedic.
Have fun.
Thank you for the recs! I want to watch more videos so I added them to my watchlist and since I love to read, I would love to read some Warhammer books 📚
now the words "for the emperor" take on new colors, huh?
Here we go, I love seeing people learn about the crazy lore of 40k!
19:29
"the inquisition can find no stain on you" - Chaplain
19:15 yeah millennia, the emperor is a perpetual that was birthed at the time of caveman human... oh and he can use his power to be seen as normal size so don't worry too much about wondering how human didn't notice a 10 foot tall dude with sunlight glowing eyes...
He's not the oldest ether.
Holy shit, he can make himself human sized? 🤯
@@stevencavanagh7990no wayyy!!!!
@@itisidaisyttv A Man called Ollanius Pius, was thought to be older.
To avoid Spoilers I wouldn't look him up.
@@itisidaisyttv not like he transform himself, his power make himself appear as normal. think like illusion or mental suggestion...
Great video, I'd recommend brickys every faction explained part 1 and 2 followed by every space marine legion explained as they are great watches and very good at providing newcomers with a good foundation to start getting into 40k but they are long videos but very entertaining. Welcome to warhammer 40k!
@@DarkMatter-97 thank you! I think I’ll watch those next so I can learn more
Yup this^^
@@itisidaisyttv Yes please do, the order suggested will be easiest for you to comprehend as the videos build on to one another. You seem really good at understanding lore so you'll honestly be fine
Can't wait to see your reactions to the other lore videos Bricky has put out. I never get tired of rewatching them.
Fun fact: the servitors (lobotomized slaves) come in many different flavors ranging from those who help say loading ships and such….to servitors who have been turned into organic computer terminals and then built into structures, hell maybe you were a bad criminal and they decide you are going to be a door control panel. Funnest fact is that sometimes they regain their memories and sentience…
It was kinda awesome to see you enjoy the timeline this much. Cheers!
I really really really recommend “every warhammer 40k faction explained: part 1 and 2” by bricky. My favorite vids for beginners into warhammer lore! Long videos though, but they’re so good
i would love to see more.
Anyone can be a part of it who loves stories and there are so many factions and viewpoints to experience it
My favourite thing ever about Warhammer 40K newcomers is when they get a first glimpse of the mighty Emperor :)
Welcome to the rabbit hole. Watch your step, and mind your budget.
I started looking at miniatures to paint today 💀
Moving forward: There is very little you can take literally in 40K lore because:
1. It constantly updates and retcons
2. A LOT of lore is written to be taken as in-universe propaganda (especially if it's Imperium or T'Au)
3. A LOT of lore is from first person perspectives, which are limited in scope
The best way to learn about Necrons is to read The Twice-Dead King (two books, Ruin then Reign)
@@HistoritorJimaldus I love to read so I’ll add these to my TBR 📚 thank you!
And "The Infinite and the Divine" it's a little more light hearted, but its an amazing book.
Thank you for the rec! I’ll check it out 😊
Welcome to the grimdark!
Thank you so much 😁 I’ll make sure to watch those videos in that order
@@itisidaisyttv Fantastic! Once again welcome and hopefully you find a faction you like, and maybe you might paint a miniature or two someday. 🐺👍
W40K is also about the indomitable human spirit, fighting against all ods, fighting against the dying of the light.
"10 foot tall and lives for millenia, that's a god!"
You'll fit right into the 41st millenia 😉
Warhammer is just one of the many examples of how great dark fantasy/sci fi can truly be. Warhammer, Dark Souls, Berserk, etc. all things that have built off of eachother in ways, they do fantastic at building worlds that are just vile. Some of the most hopeless, heartbreaking, gut wrenching, and disgusting things happen to people on the regular, yet it is the ultimate beauty to see stories of real emotion told through these lenses.
I hope you react to more Warhammer 40k lore vids, I look forward to seeing what your fav faction or legion will be.
I definitely will! I loved watching this video so much and I want to learn more
Pancreasnowork is also a great channel for understanding all the factions especially necrons, eldar and the Imperium!
I’ll check them out. Thank you!
He should have added, the Eldar could resurrect before Slaanesh. That's why m*rd*r was such a spectacle for them.
For the emperor
Wonderful reaction! Looking forward to the next ones!
The War In Heavem.

Eldar feel emotions at a much greater magnitude, therefore its possible for one to literally die of cringe.
I'd let his adverts play out.... seems its a fair way to reward the guy for putting the content together
I’ll keep it in next time, I promise. This was my first reaction video and I didn’t realize it was bad etiquette to remove his ads.

Next Every warhammer 40k faction part 1
Something I never noticed until multiple times watching this. When he says Horis is the first found and makes that face. I always thought it was a nod to the upcoming Horus Herasy. I didn't realize it was a nod to the claim by Alpharius that he was the first found. It even flashes between Horus and Alpharius several times.
"That's insane!"
Yes...now you get it.
Insane, fantastical, horrible and awesome!
Now you see why Titus was sent to Deathwatch for almost a century, only because of a SUSPICION of heresy. Even the most devoted aren't safe.
I'm happy more people are getting into Warhammer.
The necron they should be careful with the wish for the price was high for them
Here we go again bois
Next Bricky videos to watch in order:
- Every Faction Explained 1+2 (these are outdated, and he gets a couple of things wrong, fair warning)
- Every Space Marine Legion Explained
- Darktide review
- How well does Darktide do Warhammer?
And this is just the tip. Wait till she learns about Dark Eldar.
That's gonna be fun
I see a new person into 40k, I'm there to support it
she even don't watch full video
“That’s is fuckin sad…that is fucked up” yeah there you go your getting it. Also you should watch brickys video going over each space marine chapter. Even if your favorite faction isn’t space marines it’s good knowledge to have
"10ft tall and he's lived for millenia? That's a god"
I was like Yes, she gets it. But also. No, absolutely not.
@@619Slipk lmao 🤣 yes but no
The Emperor can choose how he is percieved, there is nothing in the lore that says that his true height is 10ft.
For that whats happening there is a theory that Alpharius of the 20th legion was actually the first found but as that legion was always meant to be spies he was kept in waiting until he could be revealed as the last while examining all the other primarchs
In 40K hell is real and hates humanity.
Life sucks.
What you have to understand about 40k is that faith has power so if you don't believe in the Emporer then in all likely hood you will end up believing in something much worse.
In 40k you don't pray to the Emporer for absolution you pray for his protection because the night dark and full of terror's.
Love this explanation
Her: "I want to draw power from the Warp!"
Me: "Yyeeaah ... about that ... "

40k asks a simple question - "How epic do you want it to be?"
And the answer is always - "Yes!"
The Ultramar sub-empire and farsight inclaves are kinda the OK guys
you gotta watch his other videos where he goes over every faction and space marine legions
I definitely will!
Welcome to Warhammer 40k!
FOR THE EMPEROR!!!! 😊
"The THEME of Warhammer 40K is regression and intolerance."
And they wanted to make the Warhammer 40K show more 'Tolerant'
The people have no idea of their source material.
man she even don't care the Lore she doing this for money and attention
she even don't watch whole video at the end of it he recommends books from the world of w40k
I strongly recommend Luetin09 videos as well.
I’ll check them out 😁 thank you for the rec
In Warhammer there's only bad guys and even worse bad guys 😂
There are no "good guys" there are only protagonists and antagonists. Even then, those can switch at a moments notice.
More of this silly meme, read the books instead.
Bricky doesn't cover this very well in this video, but he has a recurring podcast called Adeptus Ridiculous if you want deeper dives
The Eldar weren't bothered by murder and death like we were.
Her birth actually cleared the storms, and once again made warp travel possible
Yes 18 sons.
I’ll check it out 😄 thank you!
Now we need hiw faction videos and every space marine legion video
“Wait!? He’s ten feet tall and millennia old?! That’s not a man that’s a god!”

14:00 explains exactly whats happening to our world today
Damn, youtube algorithm push this video
@@Sinvare holy shit, that is awesome!! Thank you for explaining that!

Grateful for the welcome, brother. Ready to serve the Imperium! 💥
19:27 you're god damn right
THE EMPEROR PROTECTS!!
Gotta watch his faction videos now
@itisidaisy, Bricky has good introductory videos to the Warhammer 40K universe.
If you are interested I recommend the following:
1st - EVERY WARHAMMER 40K (WH40K) FACATIONS EXPLAINED | Part 1
2nd - EVERY WARHAMMER 40K (WH40K) FACATIONS EXPLAINED | Part 2
3rd - EVERY SINGLE WARHAMMER SPACE MARINE LEGION IN A NUTSHELL video
These will be a good a starting point.
If you wanna learn more:
Weshammer (a Warhammer40K Content creator) also has good videos that contain fewer memes but are more informative.
I recommend his "40K Timeline EXPLAINED. Everything You NEED to Know!" video as it is a tad bit more accurate.
He has a lot of shorts too, those will be useful as ad-hoc information when time permits.
Finally I would also recommend Luetin09 (Also a Warhammer40K Content creator).
His EMPEROR OF MAN videos (1 to 3) give some depth and history to the Emperor and the timelines (Only Reccomend it if you really wanna know more about it coz they are long videos).
nope
Bricky is very memey. If you like memey go for it, but there are other 40K UA-camrs that portray 40K as much less memey. Both views are valid, but the more grounded less memey view is better i think.
Also the whole 40K is all bad guys thing is another meme. While there arent any Superman or Frodo type heroes in 40K there are plenty of anti heroes.
Do you have any recommendations for less memey channels that discuss Warhammer lore?
@@itisidaisyttv I am not the person who made the comment, but I can definitely suggest Luetin. His videos are more like documentaries and a lot less funny than Bricky's (although Bricky is probably the best person to start with), but they are still really good and have tons of information
@@itisidaisyttv Arbitor Ian and Luetin09. They are very rarely wrong in presenting facts and ideas. In terms of being notable trustworthy 40k lore UA-camrs, they are the best.
