fast can sound like a machine but a machine doesn't have a heart or a soul. Alvin had a respect for nature and how sounds happen in the world and he learned his own intake and how it related to him. I respect and appreciate his love of communicating music. It was more than only music. RIP to Alvin Lee.

I agree with everything except the part where you say "he's been eclipsed by the radical players of today". I don't know of anyone as fast today and I don't count speed metal since most of its a bunch of simple riffs played fast. Alvin is one of the greatest guitarists to ever do it.
I agree. Alvin hasn't been eclipsed by anybody. Back in High School in Pasadena there was a skinny kid named Edward Van Halen. He did this thing where he would just shake his hand back and forth and go from there. Guess where he learned it? This is not bullshit on line. We were there. Even before high school when Frank was on the base. He weren't too bad either. That was before Mark Stone.
I recently discovered Alvin Lee....personally I feel like he is the best guitarist to come out of the 60's' he was using techniques 10 to 15 years ahead of the rest. Townsend, Clapton, Paige, were a couple steps behind Alvin,
thank you very much for this. I'm sure Alvin would appreciate. Yes he was a great performer and guitar player who will surely be missed. He was a big part of my younger years.
