    What do you guys think? Did we get a good deal here, or were we ripped off?

    • @karras6239
      @karras6239 Рік тому +11

      The engine is going to tell that, interior was cleaned so you got a good deal on that already, and if the engine dosent have any water deposited inside and turns after checking it out (like with a borescope camera or something) then yea. Worst case you have a really nice parts car to gut and sell, probably would make more money for what was worth, and in the best case? a C7 that needed a few touches and those guys at the dealer got scared because of the electric part wich is time consuming rather than just expensive.

    • @matthewlittle6940

      What’s it gonna be worth with a salvage title after it’s lined out?

    • @thekirch
      @thekirch Рік тому +4

      You just need to hope that engine hasn’t been sitting full of water… change the oil first thing see if water comes out. If it does it’s just like a flooded atv at that point pull the plugs and turn her over a few times. And do not forget to check the air box!!! If there’s no water than you’re sitting pretty. Though the salvage title blows re titling one of those is a pain in the ass.

      This guy is delusional if he thinks that this car with a "Salvage" title is worth anywhere near KBB price.. Straight off the top you can knock 50% off the value. He'll be damn lucky if he breaks even when he sells it. After seeing the water lines on the front I promise you that the motor and trans both filled up with muddy water and then it sat for a few years....NOT GOOD! Yeah he's gonna be sad by the time that thing's running and driving lol...

    I have a feeling you are going to get some interesting surprises. A lot of shops buy cars like this and look for a quick easy flip for maximum profit. Looking at the waterline and the fact they slapped it back together is a good indication that its going to be a bigger project. Hopefully the engine and trans are good and no water got in. I would definitely check fluids and scope the bores before cranking it. The electrical connections are going to be another killer but they can be refurbished or replaced as well. Id personally rip everything apart and inspect it but it may not be as bad as one would expect. Either way itll get a lot if views and grow your channel for sure. Id say regardless it's a good purchase content wise.

    I'll say this much, salvage titles destroy the value of a car. However, the fact that you will be documenting the restoration process could probably get you a few extra bucks. Obviously there are a lot of variables that go into it, and I'll never bet against you haha. I'm just giving a little insight with titles. Much love, homie!

      @angelcelis9090 Рік тому

    What you need to understand is dealers buy up salvage cars that have minimal damage and then start making it look better by minimally finding items to fix and just putting damage parts back to its original place (especially flooded cars…they will take the interior apart and dry/clean it up ). THEN, boom…the car is back on auction. This is how they make money but doing a quick “flip”. And then someone buys a car thinking there’s no damage and can lose a ton of money (and a lot of times the cars are back up on auction because people don’t want to deal with them). Always buy a salvage car that an insurance company is selling. That way you know it most likely driving and was involved in a normal accident and not sold 10x. you are able to see that on Copart and IAAI. Also before bidding you can run the VIN just by googling and seeing if it has ever been listed on other auctions. You’ll even be able to see pictures of the car when the “flipper” originally won it. This is a popular way of making money. So I hate to say it but the dealer you called isn’t going to tell you the truth and say that that is what they do. Good luck on this one.

Even if you fix that car back up to factory new, it will still always have a salvage title. Therefore the value will be less as will the market to sell that type of car as a corvette owner myself. I would not buy a salvage/water damaged corvette unless it was a steal. Hopefully you have good luck and are willing to sit with it for awhile. Good luck

    Looks like someone did a quick little flip. They took off the interior, washed it, and tried to make it look better so it would sell for higher

  • @DirtyDanRacimg
    @DirtyDanRacimg Рік тому +1

    Best thing to do with a car like this is tear the interior down to bare frame. Your going to have a lot of issues with connectors inside the vehicle as they arnt weather sealed. Then get a smashed up c7 and transfer over the interior modules and harness. Because i can see everything being damaged, their can be up to 80 modules that communicate on the can network and one bad pin fitment can cause a dtc let alone water corrosion.

    • @MichaelSabo
      @MichaelSabo  Рік тому

      I do plan to completely tear down the interior - that's a great idea transferring over a new harness from a smashed C7, even if the existing harness appears good.

    Tip of advice. Use the class cleaner while taking window chalk off. I work at a dealership and have scratched a window when not using.

      I think it's dirt based on the parts I found in the door panels and pockets - stuff they didn't clean. A few people commented saying they bought flood vehicles from the same hurricane and they had to clean tons of the orange dirt out :/

    I'm interested in seeing this build. I usually buy and sell a few salvage cars myself and I usually stay from non insurance cars. CDS is Copart Dealer Services and that's where you see 95% of the shady things happening, dealers slapping 2x4 under leafsprings shady haha. There are a few good free websites where you can actually see the exact final bid price for prior auctions as well. Also research it before hand and if you plan to do more well sign up for the membership because you can go visit the local yards and see more cars as well. Happy Hunting out there! Also find a cheaper broker. I used them too when i first started but there are alot cheaper brokers that charge less of a fee and can allow you access to IAAI and even Manheim cars as well if you plan to continue doing it.

    A big question is whether water got into the engine. The waterline was high enough were it looks like a possibility. You'll have to drain the oil and see.

    • @MichaelSabo
      @MichaelSabo  Рік тому

      I'm really hoping it didn't or that the salvage company drained it 2 years ago when they bought it. I will find out soon
