When I had a 1025r w/backhoe my neighbor, retired from oilfield, if I had a job to do he always wanted to ride along and I just turned him loose with the backhoe, he loved it and he wouldn't let me pay him anything! Best neighbor ever! But I helped him with his projects too so I guess it all works out!

My neighbor borrowed my 10 and 11mm socket ten years ago. My tractor won’t set a tire on his property until he returns them. Probably a good swap.

When planting trees remember this, Plant it low it won't grow, so plant it high it won't die. Also the prosses of harvesting a tree pushes the soil up around the trunk about 2 to 3 inches.

Living in lake Charles Louisiana and having two major hurricanes hitting us I have been seeing the little tractors all over the place cleaning in small yards they have been a blessing with the cleanup process. For about 20 miles pretty much every home building property has pretty major damage and these things have helped out so much

Good video. Next time make a choker from webbing or thick rope and attach to the trunk. Not sure if your backhoe could lift the larger trees but the forks should have no problem. Then you can not only accurately and slowly place the tree, but while it is suspended, you can easily cut the wire off.

Great video! Nice to see the 2038r in action!! One of the first projects on my bucket list when I get my compact tractor is to remove all the rocks the builder put around our house. The builder didn't install any weed barrier so it's a maintenance nightmare. After watching Bruce operate the backhoe, it brings me back down to earth that I may need a little seat time first so I don't tear up our patio or hit the side of the house. Thinking I should practice first in wide open spaces like installing a few culverts that are needed.

That's a correct way to plant the tree! There is always a great debate about to wire to leave it or remove it. Just my opinion when I plant trees i remove the wire so it's better for the roots to spread out and pull down the burlap. (If you remove the burlap you can remove the tiny delegate new roots) People will think removing wire will create a mess (it will if the root ball is dry and crumbly) you want the root ball moist to keep it together when you take it off. I usually try and take it off in the hole. Another great video! Great job!

hook about 18" chain around each fork, hook each chain to the wire basket and you can set the tree right in the hole, hold it straight up while you backfill and tamp. That will save you from having to man hande it

I would take the wire off as the wire can keep the roots growing in a tight circle preventing the roots from branching out and growing underground, stunting growrh. A burlap wrap will breakdown and let the roots branch out.

Always remove stuff from the rootball. You’ll end up with root bind, it’ll kill the tree, or cause a up root in a windstorm, usually breaking strong roots, and killing the tree. Root bind is not a good thing. Always remove anything around the root ball.

  • @ShaneZettelmier
    @ShaneZettelmier 3 роки тому

I heard the same about the speed, we had a lot of clay and they said to cut a couple trenches across and put a bag or two of sand in the bottom so it’s roots would have a chance to start growing and branching out wide. That clay in the summer when it dries is like rock. For all of our trees we dug a much bigger hole and put some loose dirt in there with sand and then just packed it back in there with a ring on top to retain water for a while. That was in southern Illinois, no the trees did find the Japanese beetles got all the fruit. 😂😂

I actually own and operate a New Holland Boomer 40hp tractor. When I was searching for a tractor, I looked at John Deere first. I was turned off by the salesman and staff near my hometown. All the tractors they had in stock were small, under powered and zero attachments were available for at least 6 months. New Holland came through with a tractor in my price range, had a veterans no interest deal going on and they through in a box scraper for free. I recently purchased a brush bull BBX-60 and its a beast. I have 12 acres of blackberry, heavy brush and all kinds of deciduous and conifer trees as well as a 1/4 mile long gravel driveway that needs attention at least once a month in the winter. I love your videos, but wish you would cover other brands of tractor. Also, snow removal could become an issue for me later next month. I bought 2 of those loader cleats you talked about and am looking forward to trying them out.

Deere (like most manufacturers) now have MANY tractors in the 25 hp range...just avoiding DPF . 1025r, 2025r,3025d,3025e Kubota has BX,B2601, LX2610,L2501 (or is it L2601...not sure). Anyway, lots of choices at this horsepower.
I'm afraid each manufacturer is pushing the machine size a bit too large for such low horsepower...but this is personal opinion.

Such a good and helpful video. I find myself so eager to read your Bible verse at the end. They always match your video so well. The verses leaves me smiling and thinking how I can apply the verse to my life during the day.. I had to sell my orange tractor to be able to buy a Ventrac 4500Z. My only problem I am having is digging a hole like to plant a tree. I realize the hole would be wide and ugly using my Power Bucket/ with teeth and grapple. But at age 70 it sure beats using a shovel. Any advice you could share on how to dig with my Ventrac sure would be appreciated. Thank you, I hope ya'll have a Merry Christmas !

Not precisely on that topic, but I show and discuss each in action in many episodes. Sometimes both in one episode.

1/2”. The extension hoses I recommend at discounthydraulichose.com/ttwt have the appropriate connectors, and will work wonderfully!

Always remove the burlap & wire. Tree will never grow right w/ the roots all tied up.

Heavyhitch.com use code ttwt. If not currently on the website, email them asking about it. I heard it is ready for production.

And don't make a circular hole. Always have square edges, otherwise it can ball up into a root ball.

That was too easy with the backhoe, next time try doing it with the other end like I have to do without having the backhoe.
