I worked at the Westinghouse Marine Divisions in the 80's and 90's and large CVAN, LHD, Submarine gear sets where hobbed, ground and dynamically balanced there.

Impressed with the contact patch test. That should distribute the load nicely. I've seen a lot worse and the hand work to improve the contact area is boring . On a gear ring that size its not a practical solution.

Can you explain what is happening in each step? I got a little confused why it was joined and then separated again.
Also, very beautiful video and music. That is a marvelous machine and an incredible product.

If they unbolt that joint after premilling it opens up a couple of cm By remilling the faces the joints fits perfect again
According my information this is the biggest hobbing machine in the world right now Capable of hobbing a 17.5 mtr gear according the manufactorer But 22mtr would be possible too I was told

@@veltmanmachines7902 no doubt those halves will spring open and twisted too. the nature of the beast. are these segments fabricated, stress relieved, and then machined. assembled into a unit then semi-finished?

So what was the total time? What is the name of the machining center? I worked at Falk Corp. And made these mill gears, but got shuttered during last down market. I’m pretty sure we could of machined faster.

Why would a huge manufacturing company make such a boring and non-informative video? Geesh, so many ways to make this an exciting video - and they chose NONE of them.

The video clearly states its a time-lapse video. There's nothing special about time-lapse, or informative for that matter. Only to show the way from pre to post-processing

Not sure why you would say that. Guess it could be boring if you’re not really paying attention to the details of each process, or just have a very short attention span.
