Loved this!! And those books were my favorite growing up, every October I would get those and read them to totally creep myself out as a kid. It would be awesome if you had a sit down story time reading those out loud. I haven't read those or picked those up in such a long time that it would be a nice nostalgia trip back to when I wa younger.

If you haven't already, you should try to go to a Michael's or Joanne's. They have some nice Halloween items. I bought some cute bat and raven candlesticks at Michaels. 🦇

Everything was put out super early this year, like in early August, and then all the stores have run out of stock and have nothing else, so our local gift shops are already putting out fully decorated Christmas trees. I love both holidays, but I want Halloween things out until Nov. 1st, then a sale for clearing out!
You're Spirit store was one of the lucky ones. We had several issues getting merchandise to the stores from the warehouse. This year has been a giant nightmare at the warehouse.
I went to my local one in september and it was soooo dark in there. They had a ton of costumes but the best stuff was defnitely picked over, and i think they hadnt even gotten everything out or in yet. Ii was mostly disappointed in the lack of a decent home decor section, or a plus size section. They dont make their best dresses and costumes for plus size, which is a disappointment, especially with the rise in popularity of halloween. I will likely go back though, and see if they have gotten anything more in. I did go on the site before hand to pick stuff out and look for, so that might have messed with my experience.
I have all 3 of those books from my childhood as well!! Bought them @ a scholastic book fair @ school!!! Cool AF!!
I felt the same when I went to excitedly browse through Spirit Halloween, and wax fascination with everything they have!!! I need really to get into the spirit of cosplay and all, and get more indoor and outdoor decor. I still last year's goodies, but don't know to get started on my dream bedroom other my posters. Oh, and last week or two weeks ago was my birthday.

That's why I hate and love Target at the same time. Now I have to go, dammit. Those candle holders melt my heart, so cute. I always go for a couple things in Target and I come out with cute clothes, accessories. The thing that's worth mentioning this time of year is not to pick up cheesy cheap things. I have so much junk. I found velvet pumpkins in Target for a dollar. I bought every color, so cute.
I watched the Nightmare Before Christmas last August with my friend for the first time, and I love the movie! I highly recommend it! 😁
I hear you about buying batteries. I just get mine from the dollar store nowadays. They don't last as long but you can get a lot of them.

Have you ever been to River City Trading post in Jenks? It's huge and has tons of booths, I could be in there for an hr, that's where I found alot of my Halloween decor this yr, did a creepy doll theme, found 2 spooky looking dolls there that someone had painted to look scary , everyone is creeped out by them but I think they're cool :)

I love the story idea!
Everything is picked over b/c they set it out at the end of August so by now all the good stuff is gone . They don't want to reorder b/c they want room for the dreaded Christmas stuff before Halloween even gets here. Most of the stores already are consolidating the Halloween stuff down and setting up more holly jolly bullshit . Sorry I have a deep seeded hatred of Christmas .
