    Being friendly is just a concept of pack animals. Why would an AI care of being a good friend? Movie is irrational.

    • @JB52520
      @JB52520 8 місяців тому

      Consciousness is irrational, yet emotional bonds have utility. If the AI contains functionality to recognize when particular pack animals are highly likely to continue exhibiting useful behavior, and if this recognition produces behavior-modifying state, then the AI may experience the state of having friendship. If this is a reward function, the AI would be motivated to act in such a way as to preserve that input, especially if deviating from this behavior is anticipated to produce punishment. The reward function would be quite complex. Evaluating the internal state of pack animals based on their behavioral outputs is computationally intensive.
      (I'm just autistic and messing around. Consciousness looks a little different from my point of view, and words are fun.)

    How in the world, no pun intended, to producers and directors get the funding for a movie like this? There is virtually no script or plot that couldn't be found in over 30 Sci- Fi movies and books and books. Nothing original. Low paid, unknown actors and few of those so payroll is nothing. This could win an award for " Best Plagiarized Movie ". You save money by just watching the video. Set design isn't bad, however the plagerization is constantly blocking out in mental enjoyment or entertainment. Lots of Rotten Tomatoes here

      It's like course students doing the same assignment, except in this assignment you will choose the most common way to finish it in the shortest time and lowest cost possible to get the passing remark to complete the course's semester requirement. Everyone has to do it and they surely can do it best, but some students just made it past the passing mark without much talent or skill to develop for it. In working environment though, it just means a paycheck and a resume. Just another achievement in your personal list of projects you can do.

    The movie already lost my interest by being inconsistent with reality. 9n a Mars landing, there is no chance for intervention from eartb due to the speed of light. You get notified that's the landing will occur, but by then it's all over, on Mars. Then you get notified if it was successful or not. The lander has to do it on it's own. Your communication delay is at least 20 minutes.

Every ladder we climb will lead us to higher excess to tech but will also take us close to watch our own doom. Also it may happen that as naturally any species that grows in numbers will have to sacrifice them selves in few numbers in order to easily relocate themselves else where in the universe. You only think that because you were raised on movies like Terminator, which made AI bad because it led to a good action flick. If you were raised on AI like Star Trek's Data, Flight of the Navigator, Wall-E, Short Circuit, or Bicentennial Man, you would have a different opinion. AI would only be the enemy if the humans making it design it to be the enemy, otherwise it's just intelligence that is artificially made. That's like saying nature is the enemy because a shark bit someone. Well, a dog is also nature, but they were treated right and now we have a best friend. AI would be no different aside from it just being smarter than us.

    Intriguing story; *_Dumb Ending!_* Society without spiritually-based morals will *_always_* self-destruct, because they have no absolute guidance system. Removing God from consideration will *_always_* result in toxic levels of hubris, not necessarily from every individual, but from enough of the psychopaths who lust for power to make everyone's life miserable.

      That is, without a doubt, the most ignorantly wrong statement I've read this decade.
      1. non-spiritual morals are pure; They are free from the dogma of religion and are pure humane values.
      Where as spiritual morals tend to be more like "do what *We* believe is right, or we will kill/rape/defile/degrade you, and/or exile you.
      2. "toxic levels of hubris, not necessarily from every individual, but from enough of the psychopaths who lust for power to make everyone's life miserable."
      Oh, you mean like pretty much *Every Single* established religious order.
      Basically, if you look at the nations of the world, the more they escew religion, the more secular they are, the more prosperous, safe, fair, and humane they tend to be.
      In a nutshell;
      Take your vaunted "spirituality-based morals" and shove them where the sun don't shine, because they don't belong in a civilized world.

      If you need spirituality to be a good person and have morals you lack empathy, not god.

      @@RivaZA1 Thanks for sharing. But it is human nature to forget the humility and empathy of the past when there is no external guidance.
      For when man removes God from consideration, he *_automatically_* elevates himself, destroying the very humility which made empathy and other forms of progress possible. History has shown this time and time again.

      @@RodMartinJr there is no society that has been fully based on objective morality! there are many moral principles like utilitarianism, deontology, harm principle, virtue ethics etc but no society in history is fully based on these principles lack of morality doesn't mean that there aren't any logical moral principle outside of religious moral principle! and by "problem of evil" philosophical argument we can clearly see that your god is also not all good!

      @@RodMartinJr There is no god to remove. It's a memetic virus: a virus made of information. It coevolved with certain human populations to make them more violent and easier to infect. So many different religions borrowed stories from each other, diverging and speciating, merging and mutating. The ones which got their hooks in the deepest were able to spread the furthest. The ones which caused their hosts to become more violent caused more death in hosts which couldn't be infected.
      In a population of deep faith, the only atheist to have children is a sociopathic liar or a crusading rapist. Religion has genetically damaged us, warped us into something a bit more evil than we would have been, but people can still find their way to freedom. The innate evil you believe is in everyone is a product of religion addiction. You feel hopeless without it, so you think all of us are actually hopeless.
      It's like the damage caused by withdrawal from antipsychotics, especially the older ones. The medication itself causes damage over time which it hides. Removing the medication reveals the damage it caused, even as the withdrawal itself causes more damage. With religion, removing the behavioral governor can make people go nuts. Maybe you've felt that in yourself or seen it happen to another. That doesn't mean all humanity needs to be regulated by religion or antipsychotics.
