Like Jessica's demonstration of her pointe shoes warm-up routines. Her turn-in and turn-up on all the three directions are amazing.
Thank you for the great tips. I loved the snippet on David Howard's support of your injury recovery. So wonderful to see such a lovely dancer with you Mary!
Body wrappers along with other brands make elastic ribbons. They are ribbons but stretchy!
yes, the Body Wrappers and Prima Soft ribbons are really stretchy and the Chacott are medium stretch
What a great video. Thanks Mary Carpenter!
This was great! Informative. Thanks!
The Body Wrappers stretch ribbon has a lot of give. The Chacott ribbon does stretch, but is still supportive.
Angelo luzio makes elastic ribbons, they are prefect, sold at discount dance supply.
Aletia Gonzalez thanks I will order some and check them out.
Can you tell us the name of this very usefull type of ribbons and also the type of tape?
The elastic is called clear elastic and is available at Chacott by Freed of London www.freedusa.com - it can be purchased in a set for heel elastic or it can be purchased in a bolt. The bolt has enough yardage to use for ribbons. The tape is called Hypafix dressing tape and is widely available online. Thanks for watching and please share.
Back when I used to do pointe I used elastic ribbons. I can't remember what brand they were now but they looked like normal satin ribbons but stretchy. They definitely take a while to get used to though, finding the perfect amount to pull them so that they aren't too loose or too tight.
Were they the Prima Soft brand? Or Body Wrappers brand?
I think they might have been Body Wrappers but I'm not really sure. I went to a random ballet store on a family vacation to Chicago because my small town store only carries two brands of pointe shoes and I wasn't a big fan of either of them and while I was there the fitter recommended the elastic ribbons because one of her regulars really liked them.
I think the Prima Soft have been on the market longer and they are really light in color. I would call Prima Soft and Body Wrappers high stretch and the Chacott brand moderate stretch. Thanks for the input Katherine.
It could have been Prima Soft then because this was spring 2011. It's been quite a while since I've taken ballet classes...
I use the same
Could you please tell me what brand the tape and the ribbon are? Thank you. Once again very informative.
This is slightly unrelated but what should I wear to my first pointe shoe fitting?
Kelsey Lambott wear tights, like a ballet class, go in the afternoon and not first thing in the morning. it is okay to go after a ballet class. Try not go after a full day of rehearsals on pointe. Always try on the shoes with the exact padding you want to wear when you take class.
did she tie her ribbon on the outside of her foot?
Yes, she did. Jessica has had a few foot injuries, the tying method she uses may be to alleviate the discomfort.
i love uuuuu
