I have no problem with Meghan's business venture, and I do think it could have been very successful, if she had launched this when she first went to California, she was still very popular and the pandemic would have helped. With Meghan's popularity being at an all time low and Meghan is not know for having a business head, I really don't think it will ever be more than a Cottage Industry. It will be interesting to look back in a year's time.
A big tax write off if it is made in her home, let's not forget that.

Strawberry Jam is the easiest one to make 😂. When we're learning or teaching jam making we start with it. And also the cheapest to make.

If you don't make your own jams, jellies and pickled foods, most people take advantage of the local farmers' markets at seasons end. Fresh, local, and delicious. No one is going to pay ridiculous prices for her silly products.
Thank you for explaining so succinctly what the Duchy of Cornwall is and does. Some people seem to be under the impression that English estates are the same as American compounds. They're not. Estates work with vast numbers of farmers and growers, they maintain villages, manage animals, wildlife, acres of public and private lands and charities. Many villages and businesses depend upon the estate to be successful and profitable. It isn't all aristocratic dunderheads swanning about by the pool and drinking gin.
Duchy originals is a partnership with Waitrose so we can all afford a bit of the magic. The jams sold in the Highgrove shop and Fortnums with Highgrove branding are organic and produced in small batches. They are much more expensive but are fabulous.

I went to High Grove Park website, and verified my address and filled my basket to amount total $168 USD, which includes the international shipping to the states.

It looks much like Bonne Maman Strawberry Preserves, right down to a similar label design and octagon bottle. One trip to World Market and a printer, and you got American Riviera Orchard.

I will be buying my jam from Walmart, probably the Great Value brand, which is just fine and dandy. Or some jams from Aldi, which has great prices and variety, thank you. You are so cute! I just checked and apparently the Duchy of Cornwall online shop is closed for upgrades, so we can't buy anything. I don't know if they ship to the US,, but it would be fun to eventually try one or two items when they do reopen. OOO the King's Highgrove shop has some beautiful items for sale, though!!!

It's early for strawberries in CA. from personal experience.
Made hundreds of batches of jam over the years and I'll say it...strawberry jam is common! Due to the prep involved in canning plus growing a garden, and roaming the countryside for wild growing trees and berries, we worked as a community of friends and neighbors. I'd bet lots of money (if I had it to bet) that MM did NOT do the prep and all the other hot kitchen work involved in canning!
She doesn't list ingredients, even the kind of jam, date made, or any of the basics of basic canning! I would NEVER eat anything coming out of any food endeavors MM says she made herself.
I cannot comprehend her making 50 jars of jam. The work involved is massive and time consuming. I cannot imagine her cleaning, washing, sorting and cutting enough Strawberries for that many jars of jam. Plus unpacking, washing and pre-sterilizing all the jars. Not to mention pre- testing the sterilizers, cooking, filling and sterilizing. If shes going to sell this all that has to be done and dicumented according to state food handling and packaging health standards. Yeah i don't think she went through all that by herself. White labled it maybe?
