You don't need an additional material. The quality of materials will ideally matter most especially when mixing your materials. For example if you put in more water, there is no doubt the chalk will be dusty after drying no matter how much other ingredients you add.

There is no magic in colouring chalk, anything that can change water into a different colour with no particles or remains, can be used to turn your chalk into the colour you need. NB: don't use poisonous or bad smell colours thanks
But I have tried to use powdered colour but the challenge am facing is that the colour concentrates to one side and even powder came out on the chalk also
