Got the Bataleon Disaster this year and it’s perfect for a softer flex. It’s about a 3.5/10 but it’s a positive camber so it still has some good pop. Def recommended. You can butter really easily and still crank some high speeds.
@@Palmershaffer069 have you still ripped with it before? This guy I’m talking to back n forth on curated, he is not helping, have you taking it at high speed n been able to crave good?
@Tj Bush ive gone high speed and had decent control but being its softer it chatr3rs a lot. Also its base isnt meant for super high speed so high speed on it isnt super super fast if that makes senseM
@@Palmershaffer069 ok cool!! So you have any recommendations on a board, I can rip in park n shred down a black, it’s mostly all mountains people tell me but I want something with still like a 3 flex, so should I look more mainly freestyle?

Great vid very handy info! My old board is a Nitro and pretty stiff, recently got a Bataleon The One amazing for pow & all-mountain riding. Really diggin' the look of the Bataleon Evil Twin for my next regular board and to practice jumps/park more!
Jones rated the 2019 ultra mountain twin with 9/10 flex. It looks like the construction is the same than the last year but they changed the number of the flex from 7 to 9. I got the board last year (2018 version) thinking it would be more mid-flex but it's a damn stiff piece of wood...
Muy buen deslizador!!! Mis nietos los han usado y están siempre como nuevos. Muy buena calidad del plástico y los colores llamativos. Muy buen producto!!!!
TJ, any chance you can get your hands on a Rome Ravine to review? Looks like a rad all mountain directional, interesting sidecut and uprise contacts on the leading edges. Just wondering what you think?
@@BoardArchive probably not. It's pretty soft. I was just kinda surprised how much softer some boards are. I still can free ride quite well but the board shakes a lot at high speed over choppy terrain. I don't feel it very much though. It's a great board. I'd love to try a lot of snowboards out to be honest though.
Hi Tj, thanks so much for the video. I have been wondering about the flexibility of snowboards. I am a lightweight girl (110 lb to 120 lb) and ride a Burton Lux 40. I found my board really stiff for me. I have a hard time trying to bend my board when I tried on the carpet. I wonder if the stiffness is relative to weigh as well? Of course, it's also a matter of how strong of a rider I am.
it is mainly relative to your weight. You are not going to bend the board with your muscles, but with your pounds and speed. That's why for a given snoboard model you have different sizes with a range of "rider weight"
@@ammakko I just bought a public disorder I’m only around 135 lb flex is alright had to mess about with the width of my stance but I still struggle to hold it flexed so I’ve just been strapping in and flexing the board as long as I can just hope it’ll get easier over time if not I’m gonna have to bulk abit 😂
Dang I just got a burton ripcord that’s a 2 out of 10 on the softness scale. Super flexible. 158w but I mostly ride all mountain and like to go fast ;(
You put to your list Lobster Jibb board, but where on scale you will put Lobster Park board?? (soft, softer side of medium or medium?) and how you compare flex of park board to Salomon huck knife?? :)
I went snowboarding for the first time and I caught the edge too many times it wasn’t that much fun, I was able to do the blue at a slow pace but was so difficult to link turns, I tested the flex rn and I can’t barely get to bend. Gonna get a 3-4 flex and see how I do next month.
stiffer boards and camber boards are easier to catch your edge with when you're starting out. A softer flex with some rocker towards the tips will help. Also, try to keep a little weight on your toe or heel edge at all times when riding. If you go full flat base its much more likely to catch
@@BoardArchive i bought it used and i honestly didnt do too good of a research, i thought they were all the same until i couldnt walk the day after from catching the edge so many times. lol. i will rent this time and see if anything changes, maybe its just me. thanks for the video!

Think about moving to a Freethinker from a Regular Custom Camber. Not sure if I wanna get the 154 like my custom, or get the 150. I'm like 135 pounds 5',7" size 10 boot. I'm on a 156 Berzerker for pow days and steep stuff. And I have a Betaleon Airbic 151 for jibbing, But I want aq really solid park board to hit big stuff and pipe. I also like to charge as fast as humanly possible on blacks. I've had about 80 days on my custom, and I want a true twin. Was thinking about mercury or a jackpot but I don't like this year graphic. 154 free thinker or 150 free thinker
Hey TJ I hope your shoulder is better, can't wait to see more of your videos. What do you think about Nitro Team Exposure 2017 model and Nitro Team bindings, for a beginner-intermediate looking for carving on groomers and occasionally powder?
I got you bro lol I have the Nitro Team Exposure 2018 model. Beautiful board get lots of compliments. And i paired it with the Nitro Zero bindings. Absolutely love it and performs amazing for carving and powder. Not the best for flexibility but it does have really good pop for jumps and built with quality. Did you end up getting it?
when I bought my board my focus was on speeeeeed and its quite stiff and I love it, but now id like to learn. few simple tricks and jumps, could you recommend a few or even do a short tutorial on which tricks are possible on a stiff board? thanks
Is it true that you should have about 20-30 centimeter shorter board than your own length if you are going to jib, go park, jump and spin lots? I am 171 tall weighing about: 70-75 kilo and want a board that I described above, what length on the board PLUS bindings do you recommend ? I would appreciate an answer :)
How does length effect flex? Usually ride a 148 ride kink but considering a 151. I'm 5'7" snowboarding for 25+yrs shorter board = less mass to spin on the ends and less weight over the tips to press?
Length for boards is usually tuned to a rider weight so within a range of sizes in a particular model the boards get stiffer as the length increases because the recommended rider weight increases.
Trying to find the right board with the right flex is such a pain in the butt. I hate soft boards, they have never worked right for me, and all the boards I can afford are soft 😂
nice video! I bought the DOA for this season but I still have my old (5 years) boots which are very soft. Do you think it would be better in general to have stiffer boots for stiff and medium boards?
Thanks for the vid. How long does it take to break in a board to make butters and what not easier? I bought a K2 slay blade as my first board and it seemed to be very stiff. After some research i also nought a k2 WWW which was supposed to be soft and have great flex. Although it does seem to be slightly more flexible it’s not much. Is this just me or am should it not be more noticeable? I see ppl bring up the nose so high on a press what seems effortlessly and I want to do that. Not sure if it’s a board to technique problem. Just searching for knowledge.
