Beautiful repair! I have a suggestion though..... I used 'aluminum' gutter grating, won't rust like galvanized. I used powerful rare-earth magnets to hold it in place. No drilling or glue, just 10 seconds to apply magnets. I would truly hate to meet the mighty mouse who can remove those magnets!

Thanks, for the info on how he/she got into my 2017 Tacoma heater blower & of course died. I did exactly what you did but secured the heavy mesh with stainless zip ties (HFT bag of 25) they cannot be chewed through and being SS no rust. and are removable easily W/cutters if necessary.
Instead of steel wool (which will rust almost immediately as the hole L&R at the ends of the channel are to drain water - rain & snow) - I bought some old-style aluminum screen material - NOT the modern vinyl type. I cut a piece about 8-9 inches square and wadded it into a sharp, nasty wad and shoved it into the two channels, L&R - sharp ends down towards the trespassers. Water will drain & aluminum will not rust. Be careful pulling the cowl panel, those little L clips break easy. Two more suggestions, have a HFT plastic fastener kit (cheap) because once removed the fasteners never want to return and secure in the original holes. And if you own a modern vehicle, you will use them, I guarantee. Lastly the wiper nut is 14mm, FYI. Good video to the point and accurate.

So I’m 1000% sure… the only fresh air intake is on the passengers side?

On the 3rd generation Tacoma it is located on the passenger side. I would suggest "Googling" your year, make and model of your vehicle to answer your question.

If its a 3rd gen Taco then yes. Google the year make and model of your vehicle. That's always my go to.

Would this trick work for a Hyundai accent?

@@yokumadventures8688 - I don't see why it wouldn't. You will just need to do the research on how to remove the cowl (the plastic piece under the windshield wipers) from your car.
