I remember the original game video. Surprised that the original strategy still works like a charm. As the intro said, the best way to destroy the opponents is from the inside.
I remember this mission being so hard as a kid... the idea of building a power plant only to sell it while building the barracks didn't occur to me so I didn't have room to build my base. And I seem to remember that the moment you use a stealth tank to attack a building, the mammoth tanks from outside drove into the base to attack you. Eventually I imply drove out the east exit and barely had the life left to rebuild and eventually win.
I just always understood that tanks always had whole crews of people inside them. Even the advanced modern day ones. Just had a giggle at the thought of them getting on each other's nerves and threw in a reference to the sneaky snake guy. Lol
@@TheCNCChannel Apparently Tib Dawn is set in a alternate universe in which riflemen who have a assault rifle that has the range of 3 meters can single-handedly pilot a whole mammoth tank.
@lauraallard8999 It's a quirk in the remaster, probably related to them fixing the bug that you could sell units next to sandbags. The trick is to dock the unit onto the repair bay, and then click the sell cursor on the Repair Bay instead of on the unit. It will sell the docked vehicle instead of the building itself.
@lauraallard8999 They apparently completely forgot about the Repair Bay having that functionality. That's also why the mouse cursor for it is just a quickly recoloured version of the normal sell cursor rather than the specific smaller one that exists in the game...
On hard mode, the MCV is no longer able to escape the base. So I just deployed it, then sandbagged all the way down to the tiberium field, then built a base there.
@@TheCNCChannel i actually dont remember, is the squishy sound still replaced in the german version? I have to start the game... :D Edit: Nope its not censored anymore :D I didnt even noticed it, probably because i only had the german version and never really experienced the uncensored one myself
I don't understand how the advanced guard towers in this playthrough remain unpowered for the whole remainder of the mission. When I played this on Remastered Hard, even when taking out every power plant in the main base the AGTs still were able to continue firing.
You can stay out of their range if you're careful. I got a Steam guide that shows the exact order in which to tackle the AGTs and power plants. No idea about that last one in the video though; it really should still have been powered.
@RC1985 you should do a play session of @DontCryJustDie’s mod Veterancy and More that’s on steam workshop it’s awesome, pretty much upgrades OG CNC and Red Alert remastered with modern CNC veterancy and other add ons, give it a crack 👍
There’s a vid of me deploying outside the base in the classic version. I said in the description that this is impossible on original hard mode, but I just thought of an idea and want to try it out
@@Nyerguds will it be any difference for the power by building an advanced power plant next to an obelisk / advanced guard tower ? Bcos i noticed that most AI bases were arranged that way.
Lol. Just played that mission yesterday based on your five year old speedrun. But I also entered the base from above as you did in this run. Any reason, why you did not enter the base from downside by destroying one guard tower, like last time? Supposed to be slower, right? Smart to destroy the wall to harvest away from guard towers. It took a while, but even a noob like me did this speedrun successfully. Unnessary to say, that your executing is far more precise and a lot faster than mine....but i am old, so it's ok for me :-)
My old speedruns are very much unoptimised, while on Remastered I put in more effort. I think I took out that guard tower because that was the way I did it as a kid in 97 and it just stuck with me lol. No matter how old you are it’s never too late to enjoy C&C and the ladder’s season 2 is by far a lot better than the first!
I wonder if they chose the intro cutscene by mistake
They're telling how to beat the mission
Wow, that makes perfect sense! Never thought of it that way...
Tbf I was literally going to comment to say that you effectively did the intro and it was so beautifully clean 🤣
Natasha beesley would’ve been perfect if I took the base in an anti-clockwise motion like the scorpion’s tail movement

Didn't know there were two drivers in each tank. I guess that means whenever it's destroyed at least one must die

Gotta wonder what the guys in the Guard Towers are thinking seeing the MCV driving around and deploying with no one else paying attention.
Maybe they weren’t paying attention like everyone else :)
Without your run, I would never have made the mission.
guard towers sounds so unconvincing in remastered :P
Agreed, it's a real turn off 😭 that original sound is the stuff of nostalgic fear and respect!
U used same tactic as me back in 1996 or so xD Invented if for a friend and we we're having a real fun. =D

Lemme guess... reading his, uh, SCRIPT? ;)

I think the GDI base didn't have any power at that point. Adv guard towers are like obelisks, and don't work if the power is cut.
