Burner jacket looks perfect for an upcoming trip to Iceland this winter. Tall sizes would be a great addition to the lineup! I've ordered the XL guide jacket and a couple others in the past that are just too short in the torso and arms. Pants need long lengths as well.
I purchased the super down pro without the hood. Very surprised how light it was. The warmth is unbelievable and the armpit zippers are not really on other brands down jackets. This jacket is so warm you do use the zippers under the arms. Now I’m regretting not getting the hood version. The burner down jacket is a jacket I would love to get one day. Kuiu makes some quality gear.
Received my Super Down Ultra a few days ago just as the cold weather hit. I will be using as a midlayer under my Kutana Gale Force jacket and bibs. The warmth to weight ration is unbelievable. I stand/sit for long hours in very cold weather for wildlife photography.
Commented 7 months ago but maybe you can help me ? I have the same setup, peloton + ultra + galeforce, top and bottom, sitting in a blind. The big problem i have with down is that when you are sitting it compress and makes it useless so my legs, butt and back (chair) gets cold... in 2022 it was maybe 5 to 10C i expect it to be -20 to -10C since hunting season open late November this year.. Idk what i should get, any suggestions ? Was thinking of either a proximity set instead of the galeforce ? Or under it maybe ? Axis pants ? My biggest problem is the legs. I do have a heater, but would rather not use it if i can.
@@jbeaudoin11 Not sure what to tell you as I don't have that problem. Do you have circulation issues? Maybe try putting something on your chair to create another "layer" between you and it. My chair is just one of those foldable ones made from canvas.
Can someone tell me how much of a difference in warmth there is between the KUIU Super Down Pro and Super Down LT jackets? Anyone use these in Oklahoma and can suggest their preferences would be appreciated.
I took the burner elk hunting in Colorado, sounded loud but had elk beaded down 30 yards from me and never spooked them. I’m curious how is the katana Gail force compared to the burner?
The Kutana Gale Force is incredible at wind blocking and is waterproof. You will need a midlayer in extreme cold. As far as noise goes, the Gale Force is a quite a bit quieter than the down jackets. Some of the best money I have ever spent.
lets say you just have a base layer and/or fleece, what temp ratings would you give these?? ultra down to 30s or 40s? pro down to 0 or 10s, parka well below freezing, sub 0??? thanks
Depends 100% on your own body, activity level on the hunt, and personal preference. We don't give exact temperature ranges because every person and situation is different. For most people, the temperature ratings you suggested would be about right if you were wearing them with the usual layers (base and mid layer plus a pant), with the same caveats as above.
g'day! Im from Australia and use your gear for bushwalking and off trail hiking. I own a Gila LS hoodie, and a peloton 97 for being warm while on the move. I use icebreaker merino as a thermal base if necessary, but generally carry it for backup dry clothing or sleeping in. I have an Arcteryx Beta LT for a shell. My situation is that I have a decade old Arcteryx Atom LT that isn't warm enough for winter. I want something that's going to be good insulation while static at camp. My temperature range for Winter in the mountains here is from about 30f up to about 40f. Considering my layering options, would you recommend the ultra down or the pro?
I love these little shorts on the gear. Very helpful at differentiating the pieces quickly. Thanks.

Cool shirt. I liked my super down ultra but it was a little short for my torso (I think my torso is average). A tall option would be perfect.
Check out the new Ridgepoint Products
Those pieces in the background look intriguing....Those being released soon? Would love to see more of "whats on the workbench"
That verde vest has already dropped it’s called axis thermal hybrid
compared to montbell plasma 1000 alpine down parka, which is warmer, Montbell Plasma 1000 alpine down parka or kuiu super down ultra hooded jacket?
Is the Super Down Pro abrasion-resistant? I live in North Texas where it's mildly frigid but very windy.

Nice henley shirt. Where can a guy find that camo pattern shirt?
It is the Ridgepoint, we have more styles coming in this pattern.
@@kuiuultralight Can't find it on the site - was looking to buy one myself? Did it get removed?
I'm assuming the burner will be available in camo patterns?
Awesome jackets

What color is the Super Down Ultra in this video? Is it the Major Brown? Or the Bourbon?
Bourbon

For me, you’re bang on with the ultra. I owned the ultra and it was good to about freezing, below that was pushing it
compared to montbell plasma 1000 alpine down parka, which is warmer?
The 1000 Parka keeps me warm down to 20°F. The Super Burner Parka I won't even consider packing unless I'm anticipating *at least* -20°F and colder.
@@pemborsky No kidding regarding the super burner. I'd have to live in Antarctica to even consider spending that kind of money lol
