  • When you do the exercises you will probably look far from elegant...haha... BUT it all pays off in the end, when you do your actually walk and even more when you dance with your partner!
    REMEMBER: THIS IS AN EXERCISE!
Exaggerate a bit in the beginning to enjoy your walks and dances in the end.
The link to this beautiful sketch is right here: anaisgomez.dev...
And the link to bautanz for more tips and tools for better Tangos is: bautanz.com

Dear Chrisa, I know this video is old but I just discovered it and found it very helpful! Thank you! I couldn't find the follow up videos of this series that you mention (about the other parts of the brilliant sketch) - are they on your channel / in a playlist? Thank you so much for this amazing work!

Hi Sheera, Thank you for the comment. I am glad you enjoyed the video. I believe the video I did right after this, was this one: ua-cam.com/video/k-u51qa_eas/v-deo.htmlsi=eqy_HuICgDj3f4Xe
But I would also like to direct you to videos under the playlist titled "live Tango practices", "walks" and "Tango exercise of the week" and "tango and mindfulness" there you can find more recent videos that go in more detail too.

The pelvis should be stabilized by appropriate muscles before any dancing and then - go ahead, walk!)
Any other way of human moving is unhealthy and hence inefficient for sucсessfull dancing. A person with weak muscles and vulnerable joints can feel back pain very soon. And it's just first effects of pelvis instability.

Thank you for your message! I think you need to do a bit more research on efficient human walk. Human is a pattern that evolved through millions of years there is plenty of research out there but you can start with Frey Faust and the video "Walk rite" Enjoy!

Of course, I have no purpose to critisize somebody's work, but I can't watch dangerous kinds of activity. This video is great, but it would be greater, if it were understood. All of us should understand what the author's point exactly is. I think you need to watch it again and pay attention to "leg swing", kinds of muscles (there are no mentioned back muscles at all) and watch the author's way of walking. See 9:20 and read attentively. No swinging pelvis - yes rotating by hips pelvis! No hyperextension of the lumbar, it's harmful. Exercises represented there teach us to perform "over"extension on every step (!). No way. It's a spine killer. If you are not native english speaker, there are a lot of books on kinesiology in other languages. Use professional approaches, listen to doctors, kinesiotherapists. IDo you really use these principles in you dancing? I guess the mistaken choice of the sketch took place. In fact it illustrates various kinds of
pelvic instability. It looks like examples of piriformis shortening, hypotonic gluteus maximus, shortening square muscles etc. This is not the walk phases illustration, but illustrstion of the way the pelvic falls apart))) Sorry, I know it's not yours work, but I must tell.
Good luck on your dancing. Dance is magic. But take care of yourself, don't do harm, our bodies are fragile, but can do everything!

@@RisingStars_RiS the video is exploring the bone structure through movement. Of course muscles engaged but this is not the focus of the video! Thank you again for the engaging and invite you to consider all different aspects of moving :)
