Interview with LURA, talented Capeverdean Singer. SCENARIO: KAMIL RUBIK
Lura’s father was from Santiago, the largest, greenest, most African island of Cape Verde, and her mother from São Nicolau, the island that produces the best grog (Cape Verdean rum). “There was nothing artistic about my family, my parents mainly listened to morna,” muses Lura, recalling her early youth with an allusion to the velvet, slightly mocking saudade that, lethargically intoned by Cesaria Evora, has made Cape Verde famous all over the world. Her body sculpted by swimming, dancing and simply the desire to be beautiful, the artist performs two or three of Cape Verde’s main genres.
Her compositions are based on traditional Cape-Verdean music as for example the Morna, Funaná and Batuque, and influenced by African and contemporary Western music.

Zapis rozmowy Kamila Rubika z Lurą w ramach PalmJazz Festivalu w Gliwicach. Lura to śpiewająca po portugalsku wokalistka pochodząca z Wysp Zielonego Przylądka. Marzyła, aby tańczyć, ale jej muzyczne dokonania wyraźnie stawiają ją na pozycji następczyni największej afrykańskiej divy Cesarii Evory. Obie występowały wielokrotnie razem, a Cesaria uważała ją za najbardziej utalentowaną młodą artystkę.
Światowy rozgłos zdobyła Lura w 2004 roku po wydaniu albumu Di Korpu Ku Alma(Ciałem i duszą). Muzyka Lury łączy generacje - zdobyła sympatię zarówno młodszych jak i starszych słuchaczy.
