- "Can i touch your hair?" Is a question i get asked way too many times... I never thought much of it in the past but after experiencing a quite agressive situation it was clear to me that i had to share my opinions.
It is not okay to touch other people's hair especially if it concerns a person of colour. No matter the motivation behind, it simply isn't something that should be taken lightly.

Imagine you come fresh from the shower and someone starts like messing with your hair like it’s a toy.
I would get so mad!
I also would get really annoyed
my classmate's mom use to do it to me every time I got my hair done. They lived behind me, so if I was outside she would call me over and start running her hands through my hair, almost like she was trying to mess it up on purpose. I stayed out the backyard after that. It was as if she didn't want my hair looking better then her girls.
I'm sorry but that is scary to have a stranger following you and asking you to touch my hair having a stranger alone following you it's scary within itself

I’ve had a couple asked me publicly if my hair was real. I was so taken back. They then complimented it but talk about being rude...if they ever reached out to touch my fro, only God knows what I would have done.
