The problem with bailing on a Possum encore is that the lights are always off the chain for those.

This was my first show, I'd give it a 4 out of 5 overall. That Ruby Waves was next level and I had tempered my expectations going in. I also can't believe I got a Piper, even if it wasn't super jammed out. My partner lost it for I Am The Walrus too.

It has been 169 shows since they played Jesus Just Left Chicago. Would playing it on the Night 3 encore this coming Sunday be too obvious? Too cheeky? Where are they headed after that? MSG? Night 1 opener? I can never tell anymore...
This was my 8th show and Number Line and Possum were the only songs I had already seen live. Very glad to see so many songs for the first time.
Saw Zappa do Packard Goose and I am the Walrus as the first encore at the Warner Theater 2/8/88 in DC. Up in the balcony so we had a great view of the entire stage! Still ranks as one of my all time favorite shows!
You might know this, but Trey went to a couple of those shows. There is a great book about that tour and band. Worth reading if you haven't already
Yes! The whole tour was stellar and I wish I'd seen more of it. The Warner only holds around 3000 peeps so all those shows as most on the East Coast were sold out! I think at the time that was the most I had paid for a concert ticket, around $25.00! If Frank were still around I would think nothing of dropping $250.00 to see him and his talented group of traveling minions! I pre date Barking Pumpkin so I have all the original stuff on vinyl mostly early or 1st pressings. I thought he was phenomenal! Sorry to be so long winded but just caught a buzz lol! Keep up the videos brother, you keep us entertained!

Yes! So glad you got two hometown shows that look pretty damn good. No one beats the band out. Saw the backstage area from our seats at Hershey last year. Buses are running, band walks directly offstage onto buses and gone as house lights come up. Try catching a ride next time. The boys will hook you up.

Superb review of great (no, great & 1/2) show. I was able to webcast it tonight and -knowing you were there- did a big “air boom👊🏼” when those opening notes of Piper came through! Yeah, the Ruby Waves was kinda all over the galaxy, a monster that felt like 5 songs (but excellent nonetheless.) Was hoping to hit ChiTown from MN here, but $ says no. Instead I’ll couch it and compare FZ20 notes after. You do a great wrap-up man! And Hey…those guys still got it.👊🏼✌🏼

To answer your question about Ruby, yes its a classic rock song. Bruford is all over Fish's parts and the main theme sounds, to me, like something straight off the Yes album. Oh, the number line hate. Such a great song. As we get older, it becomes less of a downer and more of a celebration of our lives and the friends we've managed to stay connected with. You'll get there, amigo. Im to the point where i just cherish every note and im on my knees grateful that these cats are still up to their old tricks.

I was there with a bunch of friends. Did you notice them (presumably unintentionally) teasing The Wedge during the Ruby Waves jam? It went on for a minute or two.
Great run of shows for Dayton again. Loved Ruby Waves who is queen. Page was awesome. 👊

Both shows were great that is rare but tonight was even better than last night i think i need to relisten to both again and make a final review I loved the setlist tonight except Steam Number Line and Possum but all were well played so ok but still Chomper dust songs

Was it just me, or did DWD seem just a touch rushed? DWD > Ruby Waves is a good combo, but just felt DWD was hurried.

No, I meant the verse/chorus part...getting to the jam. Just seemed like they sped it up a bit to get to the jam. That said, no complaints here.

Cheers Kev, double expresso golf ready on almost beating the Rock Band Phish to em getting back to that thing they stole in Chicago, kinda cool they did Toad in a hole, or egg.. whatever, it’s a stolen phrase. Made me stoked for Friday the 13th over a Halloween show. Now that’s different!
Also - I told my coworker while closing, who has no idea about Phish, and I was wearing headphones listening to XM during that super interstellar mind trip of a Ruby Waves “man this band is freakin me out on XM right now, hope the play life boy to calm this down entirely” he replied “let’s hurry up, we got lives with wives back at home, boy!”

If you take into account all the times you've bailed on a Possum encore, now what is your count?
Just admit it, you bailed on the Pine Knob Possum last year! That might have been my favorite possum ever for some reason.

Bailed early and told my brother I wouldn't be too bummed if we just missed a Possun encore. Sure enough, we hit a possum on a backroad going home. His end was the road.

I love WOTC I love Chalkdust Torture jammed or straight 7 minutes of rock and roll as long as the energy is high reminds me of BOAF energy level opener 2 28 2003 my favorite until my Blossom 2019 show that made me nuts. Everyone even me gets a little crazy sometimes I actually do have bipolar ocd and substance abuse disorder so my songs are the sloth Brian and Robert BOAF Slave Gone Stash and Waking Up Dead Bathtub Gin Mexican Cousin Secret Smile Train Song Kill Devil Falls 40 (20)years later LSD Halley’s Comet Fluffhead Any other drug songs y’all can recall w clear lyrical references to some drug or alcohol I know I missed a bunch not to mention covers like I’m so tired mellow mood

was the venue empty like Hershey 2022 They always play amazing shows at small venues like Reading my favorite show ever in person it was sold out but when there are less total people or gaps in the lawn or nose bleeds they play so much better for some reason maybe to tell the people that did not show up F YOU you missed THIS! What is wrong w you? Trey has that kind of humor for sure But were there empty parts missing big chunks or just here and there or did it sell out last minute Zappa?
It was pretty packed. Stadium only holds 11k. Ticket price day before the shows were the cheapest I've seen in a long time

I left my seats during first tube. I think people imagine me in my car with the engine running haha Outdoor venues however I do cross the exit line. Basically ran to my car during that Alpine More encore in 19
