I don't care for puzzles that hide mechanics from you, it takes away the thinking and replaces it with guessing. there is actually no feasible way for you to KNOW that mechanic is there. someone got mad at that puzzle and just started rattling it. Solving the puzzle.
You can think of it in a couple of ways: why is it called helicopter puzzle? Why does the crossed section not separate? why when i tip it do I feel/hear movement. A friend got me this for Christmas it was a shit present.
PlatyMoose1 so I saw this puzzle at a friend's house, and after a minute I asked what the locking mechanism inside it was. There's actually a really easy trick that solves it way easier, you just throw it spinning straight up in the air and when you catch it the locks have moved to the outside. Since it was spinning while in "free fall", no orientation change is needed and both pins are out.
Edit: explains how it got the name "helicopter" too
M Grey but what if nobody told you that this is a helicopter puzzle...
Jill Quinn It seems like you can't read his entire comment for some reason.
Jill Quinn - It goes by many names. But, as mentioned, YOU CAN HEAR AND FEEL THE PIECES MOVING AROUND INSIDE. It's no secret to anyone actually trying to
solve it that there are loose pieces acting as locking pins. From that starting point, it's simply a matter of lateral thinking.
Those pins would have ruined my saw.
:)
James McLoad lol
+Teddy Yi That'll separate it alright. Separate very well.

My teacher had one of these in her room and I grabbed it and just started aggressively shaking it all over the place and she told me that it wouldn’t work and it did and I was very proud 😂😂
And that's when she flunked you, right?
Thank you, this comment made me feel like the puzzle redeemed itself for how lame it is.
So the "solution" is basically to break open an internal metallic mechanism that isn't apparent, and probably shouldn't be relevant to a wooden puzzle, at all. Rather underwhelming.
That can hardly be called a puzzle. Lame.
That's how a lot of more advanced puzzles work
my thoughts exactly, but only the last 2 words.
Yes, lame.
litearlly no other way to open it lmao, its physically impossible to do anything. the point of these types of puzzels is to have a clever mechanism that you wouldn't have thought existed before.
So basically what I've learned from your videos is if you shake something really hard or smack it, it will open. Brb just heading to the bank.
hahahaha, best comment!
you might need some military grade explosive to shake it hard enough
This is why violence work. When you beat someone up, a magnet or some kind of slide will move in the other person's brain, and that person is unlocked to do just as you want.
Tao Yanbao What if the person doesn't have a brain? Or has one that is too small to work
Leo Lu Then you have to flip them upside down and shake *real* hard.
in my opinion, using pin lock on a puzzle is a pure trick. because a real puzzle is playing with mind trick not lock trick...
Agreed. They might as well create a ball maze that doesn't have a clear cover, forcing you to guess what the maze may look like to get the ball from one end to the other. Difficult? Sure. A puzzle? Hardly.
I agree.. it could only become a real puzzle if explained first hand that there is a pin inside
agreed. it is not a puzzle.
Yea, thats why im not a big fan of these
But all you have to do is change the orientation of the piece and you can hear and feel the pins falling to the other sides. So it's not like the person trying to solve it is unaware of their presence. Also: of course it's a puzzle. What the hell kind of criteria do you have that makes it not a puzzle? And really? A trick? That's what a puzzle IS.
There are some serious gifted engineers out there
The progression on this channel is wonderful.
if it has hidden pins its not a puzzle it is a parlor trick
It's still a puzzle....a question or problem that requires thought, skill, or cleverness to be answered or solved
The issue with calling it a puzzle using that definition is that, although you do think, you're not really thinking outside the box by just shaking it. The answer isn't clever, because it's just unlocking two pins that you can't see, by just shaking. There is no skill involved at all.
For it to be a puzzle it needs to be solvable by thinking alone (e.G. you have all necessary information). If there are hidden mechanics that you can´t deduce then you are forced to use trial and error.
Get over it, it's still a puzzle.
It's like saying "Get over it, the sun is a planet.", which would make no sense because it doesn't fall under the definition.
"and for my next trick, getting my blood work back to determine the reason for my blue hands."
6pointchris it's the lighting and the way the camera is capturing light. his hands are not that color, even the puzzle will not look the same color in reality.
Timothy Rodowicz o wow! really? thanks for clearing that up. now ill clear up how it was a joke, with a sprinkle of sarcastic.
6pointchris actually it may be a result of raynaud's disease, a common blood vessel abnormality. I know this because I thought I had it for years, until I found out that my hands turn blue because of a very rare disease called 'acrocyanosis' (it means 'you're turning into a smurf and there's nothing you can do about it' in latin)
my Von Willebrands disease causes my hands to be discolored, normally my left hand is kinda a dark purple ish lol, his problem may just be the lighting or something like mine. Anyways, have a great day 🙃

Puzzle: "helicopter."
Solution: spin it.
Got it.
The first time I saw that puzzle, I did it by working post-it notes down between the pieces, isolating one pin at a time.
FAWEXX this is not a church
Doesn't have to be a church to give out life lessons :D
Instructions unclear penis stuck in post it note where did i mess up?
@@thecrazyinsanity , pretty certain you messed up by incorporating in any way...that third word in the solution. 🤣😂
Seems like more of a parlor trick. The kind of thing you would see in a carnival game.
You know nothing Jon Snow
Jon snow exactly my point, the difference between a trick and a puzzle is the information before you, if you do not have all the pieces before you then you have a trick instead of a puzzle.
You have all the information though. Or why do you think it´s called Helicopter puzzle?
Gorgrom hinted is not the same as visible, if you need the name of the puzzle to solve it then it is not a puzzle is a trick toy.
Puzzle- A game, toy, or problem designed to test ingenuity or knowledge. Explain how the helicopter puzzle doesn't fit the definition.
Some of these puzzles are just mind boggling. How are they even possible?
First video I've seen from you!!! Great stuff keep doing more!!!
This is not a puzzle. This is like a party trick.
why are u so triggered. this is just a comment with an opinion u don't have to call anybody a moron
Jack Graybird All party tricks are puzzles until you know how to do it.
he's not triggered he's just saying..
Hollatosa Mamajeen plus he didn't call anyone a moron
Hast y the guy that he was talking to deleted his comment
i seriously doubt that this can be called a puzzle....
now i am puzzled
crashyburny MIT
Why not?
maybe because it looks more like a mechanical gimmick rather than a puzzle... or maybe the definition of a puzzle is different for me.maybe in one way it is a puzzle.
A puzzle is a game, problem, or toy that tests a person's ingenuity or knowledge. In a puzzle, one is required to put pieces together in a logical way, in order to arrive at the correct solution of the puzzle. There are different types of puzzles for different ages, such as crossword puzzles, word-search puzzles, number puzzles, or logic puzzles.
even door locks could be called a puzzles for people who doesn't know how it work. most of these applications fall under logic puzzles category. 👌
How is a hidden pin, logical?
Your channel is really fun! Please keep uploading :D
Just found your videos, its great!
I've been colecting some of these puzzles, and I find this one very unique and cool. Very elegant solution.
You sir are saving me a whole bunch of time and money. Thank you.
the start of these videos always fills me with so much anxiety.
i have no idea how people like puzzles they just look like a lot of work to me.
For those saying this is not a puzzle, I bought one of these and took the time to solve it by observing the behavior and thinking about the possible mechanism inside that could produce the behaviour. Mechanisms you can't see or touch, but you can actuate are just as much puzzles as the ones you can see.
I used to have one of those puzzles! I always played with it and it was so simple to solve. it was fun
LIKED your video! Glad I found your channel. Very fun!
Good to have you here Matthew!
Je vien de squeezie pour réentendre ça => 2:12 😂😂😂😂
pareil mdrrr

How to solve any puzzles that involve shaking: use it in an x-ray
But the real puzzle is: How did they get the pins into the wooden shafts? :D
By using 3 pieces per part. You can see the change in wood color
several pieces of wood and a drill and glue
And also you can see the plane marks on the revealed inner part of the wood, it's not common knowledge but just my 2 cents.
A baby could figure this out by complete accident.
my left ear love these videos
Soon as you do one puzzle like this, you’ll find a lot of others pretty easy... same with one with magnets.
Chris Ramsay did one that was custom made for him and it honestly wasn’t all that difficult, it’s just there was soooo many pieces, but most of them essentially were the found/solved with the same technique.
I don't care what you want to call it but I've been tying for days (with out the puzzle itself) to figure it out. I finally watched this and know I never would have gotten it solved the way I was headed. Thanks for the information. Now on to the next petite mystery.
Thanks for the honest comment!
Enjoy the next one!
anyone seeing blue hands?
Strawberry 〈/3 The infrared filter on his camera might be degrading. Or the camera sensor might be degrading. Or the white balance might be off.
I see white and gold
+Jake N, nah, blue and black my friend.
he was cold...
His white balance is off.
The cool part of this puzzle is, from the start, you can clearly see the two pieces of the cross come apart but it's HOW they come apart that's the trick.

"knowing the solution cannot be reversed" dude, I have puzzles that I've solved that I don't even know the solution to.
the big question is how did they drill the holes for the pins?
James H sorcery
They were separated before assembling
A little mouse and a very small hole saw.

Idk why this is so entertaining lol but you got a new subscriber
knew it! as soon as as i saw that cross had the lil gaps and i knew right away u needed to do that
3/5? Really? I wanna see a 5/5 puzzle, it has to be impossible
There are some, believe me! :)
Show them here then.
Look at his video of the Revomaze Blue....it’s ridiculous.
That's what I was thinking.
))
People below really don't know what a puzzle is. This is a cool puzzle, thanks for sharing.
You're welcome!
Tirion, that's one way of looking at it. The other way of looking at it is that when I was growing up, when you bought a 'Puzzle', what you got was what you saw - i.e. there were no hidden locking pins or anything like that, it just required you to figure out a way to make a certain shape fit through, or around, another shape (or to do some maths and apply some logic, like the Taipei tower puzzle, and others).
So to people like me, this kind of puzzle looks like trickery... and that sentiment is echoes in many of the comments.
LeatherCladVegan a puzzle can be solved by examining it. This cannot. So not a puzzle.
Yeah, that's what I'm saying. Cheers.
Danke, das war gut erklärt.
Whoever came up with this one is extremely smart. I never got a look at the ends of the cross for drill holes as it would be almost impossible to drill those holes from the slot (Rabbet) cut in the wood. Crazy puzzle.
It’s made of two separate pieces of wood. You can tell by looking at the grain
qui est la après la vidéo de Squeezie ?
Before even watching this video, I can feel my blood pressure going up just from looking at that thing...
Woah!I just found the solution by observing the cross wooden structure.
It is connected and can be divided and we can take out the rectangle.thats super easy bro

Wow such a hard puzzle you just shake it really hard and it comes apart real good
I figured it out in less then 30 seconds in our local toy store. It's obvious the cross was overlayed in a way the pieces slide apart. Puzzles are things people over think such simple solutions. It's either a trick cross or trick ring. I figured it might not be the ring as it's tinier and more fragile. Then I figured it's either glued and didn't want to break it, then I thought helicopter. Spin....I didn't spin it, as it wouldn't just budge loose. I jiggled it or slapped it lightly against my hand and it gave way, slid it out and was like is that all?! Cool concept.
when the cross is spinning the pins go away from the center. like when you put a small ball in a glass jar and then spin the jar, the ball will go to the sides
Yes, it's called centrifugal force

simple mechanics but very interesting
If you try spinning it, you can use centrifugal force to get the pins in the right positions.
Ahhhh...I would not have thought of that. Very nice Mr. Puzzle. I shall subscribe to your channel.
I appreciate your feedback on my videos! :)
Mr.Puzzle awww...thanks. I like puzzles. You do a very good job showing how they work. Thanks for your feedback too. :)
So this is Mr. Layton channel?
See the partition lines on the pin holders! The pin holder is made of 3 pieces.
Show!!! Parabéns.

I found ASMR thanks to this video and someone who commented to me, thank you.
Your welcome!
wonderful your jobs
It's painted with transparent paint
no its not
It's just the term Mr. Puzzle uses for 'lacquer' ;)
@@LeatherCladVegan Lacquer has tint in it. A Varnish does not.
@@peterkelley6344 Oh, I just started working with wood again, and I was recently wondering about this question.
So, chemically, they are identical, apart from the colouring additives? I'm guessing that a varnish brings out and preserves the natural, desirable colour of a wood, whilst lacquer does the opposite and hides the non-desirable colour of a wood?
Interesting, thank you!
Mr. Puzzle peut dire Merci à squeezie, grâce à lui y'a plein de français qui débarque
Nicely done good sir.
Cool I liked the video
I thought he was gunna smash it with a hammer to show us "the solution" when i saw him actually solve it i was pleased

wrong angle of camera
that was so easy just by looking at the puzzle i already saw the loose end on one side of the puzzle.. ive been doing puzzles for years and this one is not that complicated
this might be the fastest i have ever solved a puzzle. 10 seconds in i got the idea how to do it.

The camera angle sort of disoriented

Wow this is cool
Gracias 😊
I can solve it eazy
Hold my beer
someone thought about whether or not to consider this a puzzle and then a bunch of people just read that comment and said the same thing without thinking. This is what amazes me about youtube. We think we can define what a certain company calls a puzzle. We are simply too proud. They can call it a puzzle if they want. And of course, we can all copy the guy that said it wasn't a puzzle, if we really want.
but it isn't a puzzle lol
okay it's a puzzle then. A shit puzzle.
Puzzle: noun a game designed to test ingenuity or knowledge.
This does neither since the only way to solve it is by dumb luck, someone telling you how to solve it, or MRI/ultrasound.
So no we aren't lemmings following each other over a cliff.
bkpickell I think this involves a lot of ingenuity. The clue is in the name. Like the Bad Radio puzzle. In fact the great majority of box puzzles work based on trial and error, there's nothing wrong with that as it's a completely valid learning experience.
This is like some low key asmr
This is brilliant

do u pull the sticks apart and slide it out of the square?the sticks look removable
How did the get the holes and pins inside that narrow cut? I see, they didn't. Good crafting to make the joints so fine they almost aren't visible.
first hint on the solution was the name of the puzzle...centrifugal force
Robert Rijkers but without the name of the puzzle what clues at all would anyone have to solve it? none, and it would just be trial and error until dumb luck solved it. I think that makes this nothing more than a scam artist trick than a legitimate puzzle, something at a carnival to take your money or at a children's museum to wow small kids.
centrifugal force does not exist. It's a fictional force, but it's really just the inertia
also, this is not a puzzle, it's a trick
Well, the puzzle does have a name.
Robert Rijkers Also helicopter
