always enjoy your videos. We have been a t shirt manufacture since 1990 and my wife and I just decided this year to get into screen printing and we have learned a great deal from watching you.I run around 750,000 shirts a year and making the shirt is the easy part for sure.thanks
very Cool and the thing about being a professional is that sometimes you just expect for folks to know, by not thinking that it is so elementary, why mention it! But you never know when someone that really is trying to make something work for their life...really needs that simplicity of knowledge. Thankyou for your wisdom and your working knowledge. Shalom
Great work, especially like the information on the screen mesh, squeege durometer, off contact and strokes. Often times we see this done without this information and never seem to figure out why ours dosen't look like yours, shirts that is. Thanks again.
the best Video until now ... but everytime the next video is better then the previous :) ...... continue to suprise me Jon ....... very good job !!! thanks a lot !!!
Thank you! This is a bit too much to answer in a comment but you’ll never be able to compete with an automatic press if you’re printing manually. Automatic presses are not only faster but they are more consistent and can print in ways you can’t on a manual press. Thanks so much for watching and dropping me a note. ☠

Hi there. A common question. To reach perfect one color halftone, do we need to add a bit reducer like 2-3% for plastisol ink? And do stroke, flash, final stroke? I did it without gave ink the reducer, I did the second stroke, I lose the brightness. Any tips?
I usually print halftones like I did in this video. No reducer or flashing. Try not to over think it. Printing on white garments is the easiest. Doing black is a bit harder. Thanks for watching! Screen Printing Equipment & Supplies - CatspitScreenPrintSupply.com/
I love your videos. I find them incredibly helpful and I hope you keep doing them for a long time. Also, How are the squeegees on the rack next to you so clean!

Thanks for your videos they really help us figure things out! I tried printing a negative print item on a black shirt with water based ink and it was tragic, ink was too thick and I think the mesh count was too high, I used 305, could you explain to us the settings that are needed to do a white halftone on a black short,? Like halftone resolution and frequencies ext and the best way to achieve this print, should I use plastisol inks and lower mesh? Thanks again
It really all depends on the artwork. You can see what I did in this video series with, (watch all 3 videos), printing the halftone on black shirts in white ink. You need to tweak it from there depending on the detail and/or contrast in your artwork. Thanks for watching!
Hi, I love your vids. I have a question about producing these shirts manually (yours and mine styles) vs. automatic rotating machine (my competitor's way) that can print shirts in multiple colors in a short period of time and cheaper. what are the pros and con of the automatic machines vs. manual press? What action I need to do to compete with them? Thanks so much for vids and reponds
hi there! It's me again, i'm just a little confused about the frequency and the dpi in printing haftone. i watch different tutorial and they always said that, the higher mesh you use the better the result are. I'm using 250 mesh can you teach me what is the best number of my frequency and also the dpi for cyan, magenta, yellow and black. Thank you so much!! I realy apreciate your time and attention, and i hope you can give me some ideas how to do the right thing. God bless to you
It's impossible for me to teach you that in a few comments. It's not set in stone. The higher the LPI you want the finer the mesh count you will use. CMYK at 55 to 65 LPI might be run on a 305 or 355 mesh. Generally speaking. Check out these articles. They should help out. www.catspitproductionsllc.com/halftone-tips.html www.catspitproductionsllc.com/highmeshcounts.html Thanks for watching. Any knit that is big enough to allow the dot to fall into the “holes” with the size dot you are using can cause problems. The finer the knit surface the better the halftone. Thanks so much for watching and dropping me a note. ☠
Thanks for the videos, just did my first single color halftone, white shirt, black ink. 230 mesh, using Photoshop and no rip software, dual cure on a homemade exposure unit. Looks as perfect as the original photo. Wish I could post the photo here. Thanks again.
I notice when you flood the screen with ink you lift it off the tshirt, it is something I never done before. How important is it to lift it off the tshirt when you flood the ink, what happens when you just leave it against the tshirt when flooding? Also do you do this when you print all colors or only for white and opaque inks?
I always flood the screen off pallet. This reduces motion on the shirt while printing and therefore increases clarity, resolution, or crispness. Basically it keeps the prints looking sharp and clean for longer period of time. Thanks for watching. Screen Printing Equipment & Supplies - catspitscreenprintsupply.com/
I create my spot color in Illustrator, in my case text with affects, and my halftone in photoshop exactly the way you do. However, when I try to "Place" the halftone into illustrator, the halftone just looks funky. Not like it is suppose to appear at all. Any ideas on why this happens? is it because I'm not using RIP Software?
Yes, you cannot print the halftone in AI properly without RIP software. The RIP will allow the printer to make the dots. Thanks for watching. Screen Printing Equipment & Supplies - catspitscreenprintsupply.com/
Thank you for the Reply. I guess I'll continue with my current process of creating the "dots" in Ps and the "spots" in Ai. Love the series looking back on where you started.
@Mohamad Ariff Azmi - I would suggest a 200 or a 230 for a 1 color with no higher than a 45 lpi halftone. Otherwise you may need to use a higher mesh count. ua-cam.com/play/PLlzqjWiR6o9Zuwfj1f6zVidGCc2tXx4l3.html Thanks for watching and leaving a comment!

Are you flashing between prints? If so then either the shirt or the ink is shrinking. Use flash tack and only flash enough to dry the ink to the touch. Also yes, if your mesh is lose then it needs to be as tight as possible. 18 to 20 Newtons will work well for tee shirts. Thanks for watching.
