I listened to he when I was a teenager in the early 00s and now suddenly I’m back to listening to her music every day. She’s very talented yet underrated

I actually saw this live and was blown away.
Surprisingly, I didn’t hear anymore from her until I went to Denmark for the holidays (my mom’s Danish), and discovered that Anastacia was so huge there, she was actually the main star for their New Year’s show.
Happy for her well-earned success.
I was 13 when she blew up. In Ukraine she was huge since 2000 till 2006 I guess.This is my childhood and I still love her

I remember watching this episode when it first aired.... And the judges were assholes to her!! Instead of noticing her amazing talent, they insulted her. And now I find it ironic that I can Google her name, search for her on YT and in an instant- I can find her!! As for the judges?? Can't find them anywhere!! God bless Anastacia!!! I've been a fan since the day she walked out on stage on the cut!!!
Actually, David Foster was the only judge who talked some sense that day, and he's still pretty relevant. Can't say the same about the others though...
KRS1 was and is a big deal in hip hop. And I think he intentionally underrated her so she could pursue better record deals than the one she would sign if she won this show. It was no secret that even Michael Jackson had called her. She did not want to win. She just needed the exposure.
I love her voice a lot, she's a white soul sister by heart. She was 30 when she did this show on MTV but the producers told her to lie about her age to get noticed. She's underrated in her own country which is a shame. That guy that Anastacia was competing with, he is from Brockport a suburb outside of Rochester, NY
I have never figured out why her record label never promoted her in the US.
@@RUDYNATACHA Her age plus she come out the same time as Britney and Christina. Her old record label Sony promoted her in Europe instead and also she wanted to come to America but they wanted her to get rid of her Crohns disease scar but she's like hell no I am not doing that so they left her in Europe. Money is money at the end of the day.

@@JSDWAYNE she went where she was appreciated. Europe and Australia/New Zealand adored her and "got" her from the start. The music and voice was what people most connected with.

🤣FACTS, though. I don't even remember him. I just Googled him and couldn't find anything. Anastacia is $40M net worth now and has made lots of good music I still listen to. U.S. slept on her. Glad the UK stepped up. They seem to acknowledge real talent more than the U.S.

This was my favorite song on this show. Too bad more didn’t happen for her. Her voice was badass. This song still kicks ass decades later. Judges Dru Hill and KRS One were on crack.
She had some success in the states, but is huge in Europe. And she won Australia’s version of “The Masked Singer” a few months ago.
She is a massive star, currently doing a European tour with sold out shows, I went to her concert just tonight and the house was packed with thousands of people.
She made it big in the UK! I remember her being on the charts and I brought her album. Didn't know about the show til now, I just thought she was a famous American singer as she did very well.

They told her she was to white with a soul sound and would never make it. Ha MTV is the one that's gone USA made a Hugh mistake but Europe said come on now a Hugh international stars she's one hot mama still today that voice is like no other.

She was actually older than 25, she lied about her age, then her biological father outed her in the press.
Yes that's true she admitted her age in the press a long time ago about 10 years ago when she turned 40. She was 30 in this show that's where the producers told her to cut her age down to a few years bcuz the shows age limit at that time was 29 and she's a year older. You know how the industry was, they are obsessed with youth so thats why she lied about her age. America didn't want no old hens starting in the industry during their 30's so that's why she's only successful in Europe plus she's doing well. Europe don't discriminate against age like America does. There's a interview in a UK talk show where she talks about the age situation.
