I like to think that the parliament going 180 at the end had more to do with a combination of the discussion being had publicly, Pine’s character renouncing his title, and Rhys-Davies’ character losing it. Now they don’t really have a choice because the public is on Miya’s side, their other option just refused the title, and the main spokesperson for enforcing the marriage law just stormed out in a rather dramatic rage. The only way for them to get out of this unscathed is to be in support of it. Kinda fits more with their characters throughout the movie. They did try to refuse the orphanage being in the off season castle because that was their vacation spot.

Enemies to lovers it is THE BEST TROPE! IDC what anyone says. It's just * chefs' kisses* Also, I love the grandma grandaughter relationship. It's very similar to me and my grandmother lmao.
Guys you always DELIVER! This is one of my favourite movies honestly, not for its quality but because it reminds me of my childhood when I used to constantly watch this movie with my mom, so it's been a pleasure to rewatch it with your company! Keep up the good work, you're amazing :)
I always thought it would be funny if the last scene was the farmer herding his sheep on the penny farthing since they never really gave us a conclusion to that lmao
They're almost certainly 2nd cousins at the closest (if Nicholas' grandfather/grandmother was siblings with Mia's grandfather Rupert) which isn't all that closely related, particularly for royals.
@Isaiah Pierce I totally understand your point of view. I interpreted the whole in-line-for-the-throne situation as, Mia, the Vontrokens and Nicholas all being part of the same family tree. the Vontrokens were at first the most eligible since they were the relatives closest to the late king Rupert (King Rupert, may he rest in peace) who were of age. Now that Mia and Nicholas are of age that is no longer the case. Mia is now the relative of the family tree closest to the late King Rupert (King Rupert, may he rest in peace) and therefore most eligible. So basically I saw the bunch of them as part of the same family tree, Mia is on the main part of that three and Nicholas is on one of the branches a bit farther off, but still close enough to be considered 'most eligible' hope that makes sense ^^
@Isaiah Pierce oh I definitely think she would have, I just think the filmmakers, if they really are related, would not tell us, the viewer, because Nicholas and Mia are love interests and they can't sell the enemies-to-lovers between the two if everyone watching is grossed out about the cousins-thing XD
@Isaiah Pierce The Von Trokens actually add an interesting paradox. It's stated they become the rulers if there's not a Renaldi-blood relative to inherit the throne. Meaning if Nicholas was a relative to Mia via the Renaldi line, he should have also stood between the Von Trokens and the throne. Yet if Nicholas is NOT a Renaldi-blood relative, in the event Mia (the only Renaldi-blood relative) can't be queen due to not being married, the Von Trokens should have been the next in line again.
@Isaiah Pierce Fun fact in the books, the grandma actually tries to convince Mia to marry her cousin. Clarisse is alot meaner, stubborn and all around more judgmental in the books
The tradition of the white wigs comes from Victorian England where there was an epidemic of syphilis. The white power was scented to hide the smell and baldness that comes with the late stages of syphilis. King Louis XIII made them fashionable however Victorians really had a deep adoration for things that they didn’t know could kill them
Honestly? This sequel is one of the best I've seen. Up there with Aliens in terms of living up to the first movie, imo. Thanks so much for doing this reaction! Glad you guys enjoyed these movies, they're a couple of my favorites.
So happy you got to this one! With the holidays coming up, I think While You Were Sleeping would be a great addition to your list of Sandra Bullock reactions. It’s one of her most underrated movies.
This isn’t really enemies to lovers, they are more rivals to lovers! Enemies is more like when they are on the opposite sides and try to kill each other but slowly fall in love through mutual understanding or something like that.
I only watch these movies through you guys, never really wanted to make time to make movies besides commentary channels and since you guys basically have the entire movie throughout the video it’s nice to know I’ve watched it fully or, almost, at the very least!
Fun Fact: The “Crowning Glory” song scene was the first time Julie Andrews had sung since her throat surgery. Raven said in an interview about it that she was nervous/excited to sing with a legend such as Julie Andrews.
Love that we’re all rooting for our grandmother Julie Andrew’s the Queen of Genovia to get with Joe 😂 Also I died at the “I’m sorry papa!👀 Um… I mean security 👀”
Why is it that like most guys named Chris in the film industry are so good looking? Chris Pine, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Pratt, Chris Evans. And I like how 3 of them take part in the Marvel movies while one of them took part in DC's Wonder Woman.
44:39 Julie Andrews and Hector Elizondo created the romance between their characters startung in the first movie it was their idea, and it worked well so they continued it in this film!
I had to fact check the con artist and Anne Hathaway because I remember hearing about her lovely very private wedding. I found out it was an ex-boyfriend that was the real estate con artist and was found out by the IRS. She still has a very private relationship with her husband and two children.
Prefer the first movie, but I also like the second one, so many of the scenes have great comedic timing. An I had to grin, when you criticized the music choice at the parade scene, because my ten-year-old-self would definitely disagree. Got pretty emotional when I saw that scene for the first time in cinemas (especially because of the song) and when I finally got the DVD I just listented to the song and music video that were on the DVD-extras on repeat :D
Legit cried laughing my ass off at "no explination to how he got up the stairs" 😂😂😂😂😂 Had to pause and compose myself! I pictured it and it was brilliance!!!
I love how you guys were so insistent on the Penny Farthing. It really would be crazy amazing if he did get into the church on a Penny Farthing. And thank you guys, I never really knew what that bicycle was called. I also liked how you guys ship Joe and the Queen Clarisse.
As a kid I was so confused those two ended up together at the end because if they were both in line for the throne because of someone's sister's husband's whatever doesn't that mean they are in some way related👀 bypassing that good for joe!!! 😅
I really love you guys' takes and commentary! Really lined up with what I was thinking too most of the time. Love ur chemistry and comedic timing too, despite all the odds of distance, u still manage to give us great quality contents! Lmao I think his “secret” was supposed to be just something her doesn’t admit to everyone bc it’s unusual but true, nesquik in cereal does seem like a power move😂
I've always loved Princess Diaries. The only hitch is: Monarchies don't work this way. (I apologize ahead of time, this won't be a short comment) In the first one, Queen Clarisse mentions that she married into the royal family and is not related to the royal family by blood. If she lost her husband, the King, she would not, by law, be able to still sit on the throne. The crown would immediately go to the King and Queens 1st born. (Some monarchies still require the crown to go to the 1st born son. Queen Elizabeth II changed the law in England to be the 1st born child, regardless of gender, just before Prince William and Kate had their 1st born.) This is a roundabout of saying Queen Clarisse wouldn't stay on the throne since she is not royal by blood. It would have gone to Mia's father, regardless of age, so when he died Mia would have been Queen right away. Now if Mia's father died before the King, when the the King died Mia would be Queen, again, regardless of age. Whenever and whoever Mia does end up marrying, he would never be "King." He would be "prince consort" because the title of "King" is considered a higher title than "Queen" and no one can have a higher rank of the regent of a country. And I'm not even going to touch on the cockamamie law requiring a princess to marry before she, by blood right, can be queen.
You're so right. The reason it makes no sense is because they killed her father for the movies to make room for more Julie Andrews. I could be remembering things wrong (I haven't read them since the 6th grade), but I think that in the books, Mia's father was the King and Clarisse was the Queen Mother. Mia was kept secret was because she was born out of wedlock. Her father was supposed to go on and have a "real" heir, but then something happened where he lost his ability to have kids Again, I could be misremembering things, and I don't know if that premise is any more accurate to how a monarchy works, but I think it's a bit more coherent.
the actress who plays Lily is gay, which is why she literally came out of the closet at the beginning. Bummed me out that they forced a het narrative on her after. love you guys! EDIT (ugh): i'm *not* saying gay people must play gay roles. i am saying that the symbolism of the closet scene (a big step for a disney film) was unnecessarily negated when the character didn't need a romance at all
You are right, the ethnicity in this film is everywhere just when the orphan girl comes out speaking Italian, you can hear children speaking Spanish and not with a Spanish accent but with Mexican 🙃

the way you guys went from immediate hype right over to immediate crushing disappointment in like under 30 seconds at Chris Pine giving up the penny farthing for the horse 😂😭
And I've watched this movie many times and only now realized that they made a portrait of the queen's husband with the actor who made The Sound of Music
Oh that's so cool! - Stef
The server has to be blind to not see the princess in that bright red ball gown. He luck Joe wasn't nearby.... You're asking for death if you mess with his girls.
I think Mia has a part of responsability too because she turns her head at the same moment
the sleepover sequence was the epitome of fun and my dream slumber party when i was young, tbh it still is.
waiting for Ella Enchanted ... We have to finish PAHCU ( Princess Anne Hathaway Cinematic Universe)
Yes next time
Ocean's 13 (or 8, or whatever number, I can't keep track) has her in a leading role and it is awesome!
You two knowing the proper name and showing pure enthusiasm for the penny-farthing was the best part of this video 😂
Fun Fact: ‘Charlotte’ is actually Gary Marshall’s daughter.
She's a lovely character :)
Even at my big age, the parade scene always makes me emotional
Curiosity about the movie. The director wanted to use a stunt double in mattress scene with Julie Andrews but she thought it would be fun to do it herself and she nailed it.
Probably the director didn't wanted to break Julie Andrews
Ahhh Julie Andrews singing again after so long was a really big deal at the time this movie came out!
"One thing I will say though, I demand for more Raven Symone in this movie."
Omg, right?! Ty! That's what I was hoping for too! Some more one on one with Anne AND Raven would have been so much better! Love that you guys said it! And omg, yes! I'd LOVE to hear your commentary if they film a third movie, for sure!
The fan scene was completely improvised. Apparently they needed something to fill the runtime, and came up with that.
Really ?
Too fast to be given a ring for engagement? Lol thats kinda the whole point, she literally only has a month. Great reaction as always. Cant wait for the next.
Hector Elizondo has such great comic timing.
28:25 The Yoshi Sound made it even funnier
Fun fact: in the audio commentary for one of his films Gary Marshall said: "I found out nepotism was legal so I turned it into an art form"
So the nepotism line about it belonging in the arts, was him having a jab at himself 🤣🤣
Hahaha
I 100% want an older Mia and Nicholas with a young princess of their own that needs to be played by Hailee Steinfeld who is coming of age herself and going through her own awkward teenage phase and trying to prepare for her coronation as crown princess or something
hailee is like 30. she’s too old to pass as a teenager
@@littleekellyy Hailee is 26 !, and she still can pass for a teenager :)
@@giuliapicchiotti idk. i'm over grown adults playing teenagers. when i think of "awkward teenage phase" i image a 13-15 year old and having a 26 year old playing that role is just weird.
Great idea although why Hailee Steinfield?
Me too
I love this movie. A lot of people hate it and the Clarisse/Joey subplot is the romance I'm here for.
I like you guys back and forth and your point of view is very reasonable, which unfortunately seems to be harder and harder to find.
I look forward seeing more from you guys. :3
32:21 Actually, the rule is that you cannot use obscenities in PG Films. Hence, the gibberish. Like Joe Pesci in ‘Home Alone’.
Hey Budz. Glad you're feeling better Sam. My heart's going out to you 💜
Much appreciated. Not really actually there yet for me, but I’ll get there 😊 - Sam
I love how yall forgot that yall already fell in love with Joe in the first one and re-fell in love with him again while watching this one
23:27 Very random fact - that girl is Mr Kate, the interior design UA-camr! I totally forgot until I saw her again just now!
Enemies to lovers it is THE BEST TROPE! IDC what anyone says. It's just * chefs' kisses* Also, I love the grandma grandaughter relationship. It's very similar to me and my grandmother lmao.
The Gimli vibes are strong in the dart scene, and I love it. And I really wanted the junior security guard to end up with Mia haha. I like that guy.
Guys you always DELIVER! This is one of my favourite movies honestly, not for its quality but because it reminds me of my childhood when I used to constantly watch this movie with my mom, so it's been a pleasure to rewatch it with your company! Keep up the good work, you're amazing :)
I always thought it would be funny if the last scene was the farmer herding his sheep on the penny farthing since they never really gave us a conclusion to that lmao
i love how joe is mia's grandpa now
like he definitely had the grandpa vibe during the movie but now he's her actual grandpa too and that makes me happy
I would just like to note:
If Nicholas and Mia are both this close in the running for the throne, that means they are related... closely related
So basically I saw the bunch of them as part of the same family tree, Mia is on the main part of that three and Nicholas is on one of the branches a bit farther off, but still close enough to be considered 'most eligible'
hope that makes sense ^^
King Louis XIII made them fashionable however
Victorians really had a deep adoration for things that they didn’t know could kill them
Honestly? This sequel is one of the best I've seen. Up there with Aliens in terms of living up to the first movie, imo. Thanks so much for doing this reaction! Glad you guys enjoyed these movies, they're a couple of my favorites.
The Crowing Glory scene always makes me happy cry because it was the first time Julie Andrews sang in a movie or anything after her surgery.
So happy you got to this one!
With the holidays coming up, I think While You Were Sleeping would be a great addition to your list of Sandra Bullock reactions. It’s one of her most underrated movies.
It is one of my favorite movies 🤩 and so underrated!
Yeah, you could call it an extended highlights edit 😆 some of them are definitely worth the full watch tho! - Sam
Fun Fact: The “Crowning Glory” song scene was the first time Julie Andrews had sung since her throat surgery. Raven said in an interview about it that she was nervous/excited to sing with a legend such as Julie Andrews.
Love that we’re all rooting for our grandmother Julie Andrew’s the Queen of Genovia to get with Joe 😂
Also I died at the “I’m sorry papa!👀 Um… I mean security 👀”
Why is it that like most guys named Chris in the film industry are so good looking? Chris Pine, Chris Hemsworth, Chris Pratt, Chris Evans. And I like how 3 of them take part in the Marvel movies while one of them took part in DC's Wonder Woman.
I love how happy Stef gets whenever Fat Louie is on screen XD
44:39 Julie Andrews and Hector Elizondo created the romance between their characters startung in the first movie it was their idea, and it worked well so they continued it in this film!
“Holy shit! It’s the Bat Cave.”
Knowing Anne Hathaway played Catwoman, I found that line funny. 😂
Gretchen the Maid is such an underrated character 😅
fun fact, prince jacque and the orphan girl are siblings in real life! Abigail and Spencer Breslin!
You should try reacting to ‘Casper: The Friendly Ghost’ with Christina Ricci.
And Casper Meets Wendy!! 😊🥰
25:58 Gotta love that unique Aussie perspective to this moment
The only line I remember from this movie: "How am I supposed to herd sheep with a bike?"
I had to fact check the con artist and Anne Hathaway because I remember hearing about her lovely very private wedding. I found out it was an ex-boyfriend that was the real estate con artist and was found out by the IRS. She still has a very private relationship with her husband and two children.
"And along came a fuck boy!"😂😂😂😂😂
I love how Sam and Stef are like the big brothers being protective over Anne
Prefer the first movie, but I also like the second one, so many of the scenes have great comedic timing. An I had to grin, when you criticized the music choice at the parade scene, because my ten-year-old-self would definitely disagree. Got pretty emotional when I saw that scene for the first time in cinemas (especially because of the song) and when I finally got the DVD I just listented to the song and music video that were on the DVD-extras on repeat :D
Well, I can totally understand your love for the song and the scene Jenna, all things considered haha 😁 - Sam
46:59 Yes, we already have a Rapunzel, and she's voiced by Mandy Moore, your arch-nemesis from the first movie~
I also liked how you guys ship Joe and the Queen Clarisse.
the dissapointment when he wanted to use the horse to get Mia! LMAO
this channel is such a comfort channel for me, thank you for the uploads and having such good vibes!💗
You guys are so fucking wholesome, the best buds
As a kid I was so confused those two ended up together at the end because if they were both in line for the throne because of someone's sister's husband's whatever doesn't that mean they are in some way related👀 bypassing that good for joe!!! 😅
Most people who are royal are in some way related, it is true.
I really love you guys' takes and commentary! Really lined up with what I was thinking too most of the time. Love ur chemistry and comedic timing too, despite all the odds of distance, u still manage to give us great quality contents! Been binge watching almost all ur movie reactions in weeks now, definitely my comfort channel lately. Thanks for being awesome! :)
Lmao I think his “secret” was supposed to be just something her doesn’t admit to everyone bc it’s unusual but true, nesquik in cereal does seem like a power move😂
I've always loved Princess Diaries. The only hitch is: Monarchies don't work this way. (I apologize ahead of time, this won't be a short comment)
In the first one, Queen Clarisse mentions that she married into the royal family and is not related to the royal family by blood. If she lost her husband, the King, she would not, by law, be able to still sit on the throne. The crown would immediately go to the King and Queens 1st born. (Some monarchies still require the crown to go to the 1st born son. Queen Elizabeth II changed the law in England to be the 1st born child, regardless of gender, just before Prince William and Kate had their 1st born.)
This is a roundabout of saying Queen Clarisse wouldn't stay on the throne since she is not royal by blood.
All of that sounds truly terrible. Particularly the part where a King is automatically higher in rank compared to a Queen.
Maybe Clarisse was the interregnum queen, hence attempting to get Mia involved asap?
Wouldn’t Clarice have been Queen Regent when Mia was too young to rule, though?
EDIT (ugh): i'm *not* saying gay people must play gay roles. i am saying that the symbolism of the closet scene (a big step for a disney film) was unnecessarily negated when the character didn't need a romance at all
I forgot about that
Really, I didn't know that
🙄 because the actress is gay she can’t play a straight character?
@@kataleesilovas4251 that's not what I said.
@@hungryhungryhippocampus7889 lmao do you want me to reply so bad you come back 19 hrs after you’ve already made your witty comeback?
You are right, the ethnicity in this film is everywhere just when the orphan girl comes out speaking Italian, you can hear children speaking Spanish and not with a Spanish accent but with Mexican 🙃
