signed sealed delivered.... im yours!! I couldn't find a membership like on this channel. Let me know if/when you do that so I can members-up for both your channels. Looking forward to see what you do with the new channel as all the livestreams i've been part of are a hilariously good time. Congrats on being ready to expand. (really really cant wait fo the your tv channel as well!) Great job all around. Your uploads always make my day.
I never got to thank you properly for when you had my back in the comments after I'd criticized one of the movies you'd done and people started coming at me, and someone even said they'd unsubscribe over it. I hadn't been at the time. I have never been subscribed to any channel before but I figured I owed you one after that, especially if you'd potentially lost one because of it, so I'll gladly subscribe to your other one as well. I look forward to seeing what your livestreams will look like, and I'm sure you'll continue to grow significantly as a channel because your commentaries are so different from so many other ones I've seen and always a lot more thoughtful and engaged with the films you watch, so I always really appreciate and enjoy them and I have no doubt that this new channel will be just as great. Thank you for the content and I hope you have a great deal of success and a swell day
Hi guys, I’m a digital media specialist and I strongly suggest you keep your all your videos on one page. I would only propose a new channel if it’s going to be a totally different theme/topic. Like video game streaming or true crime vs what you already do. But if your live streams coincide with your Movie Budz content/personalities, I’d advise to keep your live streams on here and just have a playlist of streams or you can private them after if you don’t want them mixed in with your content. I hope you don’t take this the wrong way, because I love your content! You guys are so wholesome. 🖤 Just a friendly suggestion!
Would’ve been so easy for them to write her friend off as jealous and bitter over Tiana getting the Prince, but she’s purely supportive and happy for them, and I love it.
I’ve seen a lot of criticisms towards Lottie for not just giving Tiana the money for the restaurant but there are 2 main factors playing into why she can’t. 1) Tiana straight up wouldn’t accept the money, she believes you have to work hard to get what you want. I’m positive Lottie or her dad has tried to give her the money. 2) the time period, Lottie is a rich white girl and Tiana was a poor black girl, if Lottie or Tiana ever got “too” friendly it could’ve been troubling for both, segregation was still happening. While Lottie is a sweetheart and considers Tiana her best friend, at the time that just wasn’t allowed. Also, it’s not like Lottie or her dad was ever not supportive to Tiana or her mom for that matter. They are Tiana’s mom’s biggest customers, I’m pretty sure Lottie only gets dresses from Tiana’s mom and I’m willing to bet Big Daddy pays hella cash for them dresses because they are stunning. Lottie and her dad also eat at the restaurants Tiana worked at all the time even tho they could definitely go to more fancier restaurants to eat and I’m sure they tip her wonderfully. There’s also a theory which I believe 100% that Lottie paid Tiana’s mom to make the blue dress. Lottie only wears pink, that’s her color so why would she had a random blue dress that also happens to fit Tiana perfectly (Tiana’s mom would def know her daughter’s size)? I think she definitely had it as a back up dress for Tiana if anything went wrong at the party because once again Tiana isn’t just gonna accept the dress. Sorry for going on a tangent, I get very excited to talk about Tiana and Lottie and their friendship.
I know Lottie likely wouldn’t have thought of it on her own but I would’ve tried to make an investment deal with Tiana, like I’ll tell her I’ll endorse her in exchange for a percentage of the profits when she starts her restaurant. Or maybe Tiana wouldn’t accept that kind of deal either and she is just simply determined to do everything on her own, which is probably true lol
THIS. I always say Lottie knew Tiana so well that she knew she would never accept a handout. So she and her father supported them through their business'
If you notice that Lottie wears ONLY pink, but the dress she gave Tiana was blue (and also I'm pretty sure they're different sizes) - it's pretty obvious that she had that dress made for Tiana. Also, Tiana is prideful, so she wouldn't accepted it, if Lottie'd gave it to her as a gift, so she waited for a chance to help her, the same goes with a restaurant. Instead of trying to give Tiana money she wouldn't accept, Lottie gave her chances to earn them. She's a great friend.
Something I love is that you see Lottie's progression in the film. She helps Tiana when she's down at the ball but leaves Tiana when she seems okay even though she's still sad because Lottie's focused on her own dream, but sacrifices her dreams for Tiana at the end of the movie.
The theory is that Evangeline was a firefly and Ray's wife and than she died and became a star, and when Ray died he followed. I liked that Tiana didn't take his money, and still use her own money to get her dream. Also, she made him actually work at the restaurant. I like the message of you can have a career and still have a romantic relationship it doesn't have to be one or the other.
@@ashleydavis2124 Ray literally says Evangeline was a firefly, but it's implied she past away and now she's a star and when Dr. Faciler killed Ray, he joins Evangeline. I unsubscribed from Movie Budz because their constant shitting on Naveen annoyed me and these idiots took it seriously when Charlotte said the joke at the end. OH MY GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@@summerrose8110 Naveen _was_ a douche. There was nothing likeable about him. Tiana hands down got the worst disney princess movie. And even though it was a "joke" it was still inappropriate whether you like it or not. I'm sure they won't feel the loss.
@@deehines5750 You racist bigot, that's why idiots are trashing Princess and the Frog, because the protagonist is African American?! I wish you a terrible karma to happen to you.
I always really appreciate how thoughtful you guys are regarding women and their boundaries consistently in every movie. Genuinely one of my favourite commentary channels for the chill atmosphere you guys have.
Still don’t think Naveen’s a bad guy. He’s charming and the progression of his love for Tiana honestly felt more natural than say Christoff & Anna. The PG version of Barney Stinson I guess. Also I’d say his decision to act selflessly in order to achieve Tiana’s dream gains major points. They had good, entertaining chemistry. Naveen’s an iconic Disney Prince in my book
Like his growth was being willing to work to make sure he can help make her dream come true to being willing to give her up because he sees how important it is to her
@@esreverTAIt’s hard for me to really gauge which movies I like more. I think it just boils down to jazz, New Orleans vibe and characterization. Like Tangled might be more fun but I’m more invested Tiana and Naveen’s relationship, and also… Ray!! 🥺😩
I did feel like they never gave Naveen a chance. People hold these movies up to Frozen/Tangled standard for character development and thats just not feasible.
I think you judged Naveen a bit harshly. He was spoiled and a playboy for sure, but I genuinely think he didn't love money in the way you pegged him. Rather I think he loved the freedom that that money afforded him. He was a free spirit who'd never had anyone teach him how to be responsible or put him in his place. Then comes along this woman who does just that, who doesn't bat an eye at his princely title and his world is shaken. Romance is rushed for sure, that's kinda a standard for Disney, but I really do think Tiana and Naveen balance each other out amazingly.
I agree, I didn’t dislike him as much as the movie buds. And as you said Disney romances are often rushed. The only really good example for me is tangled which also has this love hate relationship between the two love interests.
Yeah, Tiana doesn’t bow down to him or swoon over him because of his money or his title, she even puts him in his place and makes him treat and act as her equal. and while she brings him down to earth and humbles him he also helps her learn to have fun and realize that there’s more things to life than just working hard. They’re wrong on one fact, people change because they want to change, cause they want to improve, and Naveen realizes that he wants to change himself to help Tianna she’s the one who makes him want to be a better person and change his ways. also the whole film is making the point what you want (your dreams) aren’t always as important as what you need (appreciating who and what you have) and the point is that both Tianna and Naveen realize that what they want isn't as important as what they need each other to balance themselves out and it’s because of them going with what they need that they both get what they want as well later on.
As a black woman this movie meant so much to me when I was little 💖. Edit: Naveen and Tiana still kinda hold up as a couple imo🤷♀️. At the beginning when they met as humans and she was uninterested he left her alone . Idk Naveen’s character development is there and he is a good person at heart; he needed the reality check of how spoiled he was
I was 14 and saw in theaters with my mom and grandmother, I was so excited to see black people represented. I'm African American and didn't want to believe Disney is racist(Sometimes they are), I love this movie.
Yes I remember my dad was so mad that Naveen is more racially ambiguous but he was glad they gave Tiana a good Black dad instead of stereotyping her mother as unmarried and single. 😭
@@_trixieburg26 prolly the dad wanted to see black love, no guessing. Which I can understand because movies and tv have ambiguous people in roles that could’ve gone to unambiguous black people for the reason of being palatable to a white audience.
27:24 You people have absolutely no idea how hard the theater in New Orleans erupted into laughter upon hearing "Y'all from Shreveport?" Disney actually did some research and found some good local jokes, and I cannot praise them enough for it.
@@kerdunne3422 From what I gather (as a Michigander), Shreveport is located in the northern part of Louisiana, the opposite side of the state from New Orleans.
It may also be the fact that Ray's Voice actor Jim Cummings ( veteran voice actor For Disney) used to live in New Orleans, and can do an amazing cajun accent I would not be surprised if it was him to ad-libbed that line.
If you look closely, you’ll notice that during “Friends on the Other Side” (11:22 in particular) the shadow changes the design of the wallpaper to skulls and crossbones anywhere it stands.
I do love how everyone asks, why can't Lottie just hook up Tiana and get the restaurant like that? Well firstly, Tiana is not one for handouts, especially if her friend is that rich. Like her song "Almost There", she says "People taking the easy way" She doesn't want easy, she wants to work for it! And she did when Lottie gave her money for her 500 beignets! Tiana probs told Lottie that she doesn't want any handouts multiple times, she's not taking "free money". Lottie respects and knows Tiana enough to know her attitude and she completely agrees with it! Lottie may be crazy but she's always a good friend for Tiana and understands her dream.
My point exactly and I don't really like how they pretty much make Lottie out to be a predator when I'm pretty sure she was talking about the Prince dance and not actually planning on marrying him
The design of Tiana's blue dress and hair from the party is actually from Cinderella (1997) with Brandy. Cinderella 1997 is when Disney introduced the first black princess. It's truly sad that it's so underrated. Please consider checking it out. You won't be disappointed. Between the cast(with Whitney Houston and other amazing actors), music(every song gets it's a message across), and costumes(!) it's hard not to fall in love! Peace and Love ✌️💗
Oh wow! I didn't watch that one much growing up but I definitely saw it at some point, and I can totally picture the dress and overall presentation you're talking about! So cool to know about the reference this movie made to it.
Disney's Princess and The Frog is truly an underrated gem. I feel like more people should appreciate that animated masterpiece. There's not a lot of Disney Princesses who are of color, and obviously Princess Tiana is the exception in this case. Lottie is the best friend Tiana could ever have, even though she may appear like a diva cause she has all the money, but deep down she has a kind heart.
I believe this is the disney movie that shouldnt have been made. As a kid u watch a movies and want to be the princess or have that prince but ur telling me that a movie about a poor black girl who works 24/7 and then is an ugly frog who falls for another frog for 80% of the movie is something i want? He was also just not a dreamy guy. I dont want to be a princess like tiana. I wish they had a black princess who stays black throughout the movie insyead of prefering a FROG
@@mariamlake8746 what do you mean it shouldn't have been made? I loved this movie and it didn't make unrealistic views because ALL of them do that. You should say they all shouldn't have been made then
@@mariamlake8746 I mean the being a frog issue I get. But ALL Disney movies have had unrealistic goals for girls to need a man to save them. BTW when Lottie says “we’ll i’ve waited this long” in regard to naveen’s younger brother, she meant that she waited up until this long to dance with a prince, since lawrence was a fake prince. Just wanted to clarify that!
7:50 "Bestie could have just hooked you up this whole time?" After being her friend all these years, Lottie's probably well aware of Tiana's determination to work to make her dream come true, and once there's a reasonable opportunity to pay Tiana a big sum of money, she does. Tiana literally only considers Frog Naveen's offer of money from his family out of total utter heartbreak and desperation that the world has once again thwarted her dream despite all her hard work, when she had spent most of the day thinking she finally had her restaurant, because the Fenner brothers are stupid, horrible, evil people.
totally agree - but she definitely could've hired tiana sooner 😅and paid her extra for one reason or another (time crunch, tip, things that don't feel as much like a handout)
@@SkwithOv she had to shove the money into Tiana's hands and this celebration is probably the biggest they've ever had as adults because of the Prince's arrival. She's likely tried before to push money onto her and Tiana just won't accept a tip that's ridiculous.
Yeah with her work ethic, no way Tianna would have accepted the money without working for it Also it’s shown that Both lottie and her father predominantly use Tianna’s family for their business ventures, be it eating at the restaurants she works at, paying her mom for the daughters custom made dresses and paying Tianna to cater their parties and get togethers.
Y'all really missed the mark with Naveen. So many people change BECAUSE of someone they love, not FOR that person. You should never change who you are just to make someone else happy but that's not what happened here. Naveen changed because he realized his life was not fulfilling by just flirting with other women and leeching off people. He respects Tiana's hard work and dedication while also teaching her that she can let go and have fun sometimes. There's nothing wrong with changing your behaviors because you've been inspired by someone close to you. In the words of Jonathan Decker, licensed therapist over at the Cinema Therapy channel: "It's one of the healthier relationships. It doesn't start there, but because what it grows into is, not just a character arc of 'oh we fell in love,' but Naveen does a major page one rewrite on himself. And Tiana, for her part, she likes Naveen, she's into Naveen, but she's also not going to just sacrifice everything she's worked her whole life for...But he loves to listen to her talk about her dream, that's real love by the way, is their happiness is what you want the most. Not 'hey if you did this it would make me happy.'"
Gonna be honest, the biggest reason why I gave my boyfriend a chance was because he treated me like a person with my own interests and ideas and had actual conversations with me, you know the bare minimum of how you should treat everyone I just had never met a guy who treated me like that and also was into me lol I don't think its fair to say that you cant be loved if you aren't perfect from the start, and I also think its ok that your motivation to change comes from a person as long as they don't make that person do all the work for them. It doesnt matter what the motivation is as long as it gets you to a better place. I got lucky that my boyfriend continued to raise that bar and didn't just stay at the bare minimum, 8 years later and he is still moving that bar up. Not everyone is perfect, mistakes will be made and I think as long as you can see the effort they are making and see that they continue to strive for better and they make actual change(and keep that change) you can give someone a chance. You're allowed to better yourself while you're with someone.
Agreed. Naveen so cleary changed for the better at the end which was the whole point of his arc. Its so good to have characters like him so others can see its never to late to learn and to change who you are.
Ah, a favorite! a) the first black Disney princess 1000% NEEDED a romance storyline because black girls & women are always shown to be 'strong' and 'not needing' softness & romance in media. Optics wise leaving her cold in that arena would have been a slap in the face. In general I do think do to the Disney timeline there wasn't enough space for a proper Naveen turnaround - maybe a week or so implied together would've worked more. It would give Naveen more time to change and the story more time to properly intone Tiana's problem not being lacking love but lacking time for herself to enjoy life, friends and family like her father did. The lesson being that black girls deserve to have all those things is important as a nuance that wasnt' really perfectly handled. (her black friends teasing her a bit always came across as them missing her to me instead of disparaging her. They know she works hard, and they likely do too, but she also needs to try and find even a little balance once and a while. And her mom 'wanting grandkids' is very typically grandma but also that feeling of 'who will love/care about my child once I'm gone or remind her to not run herself into the ground?' Even with these hiccups I really liked all the characters, Lottie included and I'm 100% certain the thing with Naveen's brother was meant to be a joke LOL
I actually like that he wants to change bc of her. He never had a reason to want to change and seeing how hardworking and dedicated Tiana is made him want to be better bc it made him realize how lazy and unrewarding his life is. Sometimes you need that push to want to become a better person. Him changing in one day is definitely a stretch but to change for someone else is not far fetched or weird at all
I know the point in the movie when he was talking about he realize that he didn't know how to do anything I think that thought came along before he met Tiana which is why he was so desperate to marry a rich girl because he knew he couldn't survive without the money but after meeting Tiana he realize that he could and there was more to him than just being a rich boy
Besides Naveen being a huge spoiled baby, I really get it. There's beyond being successfull and working hard - specially for black woman, we grow up learning to work hard and be strong, being denied healthy love and healthy self care in general. Yeah, work is important, achievments are important, dreams are important, but Tiana really forgot about love and friendship.
There's a theory that Lottie had that blue dress made specifically for Tiana as her favorite color is Pink and we never see her wear another color but the dress she gives Tiana is blue and it fits her perfectly.
I love their commentary but I 100% closed my ears when they were criticizing Naveen and his and Tiana's relationship. 52:38 idk bro I gotta disagree, that man has me swooning as much as a fictional character can
The movie was a hit when it came out. It lead them to making more Disney Princess movies like Tangled, Frozen, and so on. It basically relaunched Disney Princess movies.
I love your lads input, but I respectfully disagree with some of your opinions on this film. Tiana values hard work and that's great! But too much of something can be bad, and this includes hard work, she is working her butt off for a dream, while the present is passing her bye, and the Prince is her foil to that, he knows how to relax but too much relaxing can make you weak and unreliable, they both meet each other half way and help each other become better people and meet their goals-- I think they're great I just wish they had more scenes developing their romance
Yeah I agree I watched the reaction of Beauty and the Beast and they gave Beast a lot more leeway then Naveen even though in my opinion beats was a lot worse
Honestly naveen is in my top 3 disney princes. His growth is amazing. I get what you were saying but not at all at the same time. HE WANTED TO GET 3 JOBS SO THAT TIANA COULD GET HER RESTAURANT. HE WANTED TO MARRY LOTTIE SO THAT SHE COULD HAVE HER DREAM COME TRUE. yall i mean what.
exactly! I feel like their reactions were way too extreme. like at first it did seem like naveen was only giving the bare minimum in regards to his growth but I’m shocked that they never realized how hard to he went for tiana towards the end of the movie. like he was willing to do literally everything in his power to help her and they kinda just brushed it off like it was nothing :/
@@okelise i know and honestly it really annoys me because I just watched the reaction a Beauty and the Beast and they give Beast a lot more leeway then they do Naveen when Beast is a lot worse to Belle and literally everyone else around him but he gets a pass and Naveen doesn't get any kind of sympathy ?
How is that growth? He didn’t have to actually DO any of it. It’s easy to say you want to and a lot harder to actually do it. He is used to saying whatever he has to to get what he wants and this is no different.
@@liannebiggar1557 he didnt even tell tiana He wanted to do all of that. He just told himself. And when He realized how urgent tiana needs the money he did not go through with his plan and sacrifised it by going to lottie and being ok with getting married to her just so tiana could have her dream.
Watching this in psychology class. Priorities 😌 But the things I love about this movie is they got the whole Louisiana, New Orleans aura correct and the fact that Charlotte always supported Tiana.
Okay, I really appreciate the dedication but you should probably be focusing on your class lol 😅 Good to hear they nailed the accuracy. Also yeah, Lottie was a gem 😊 - Stef
The biggest problem with Disney for me is that they don't allow Black people to have enough screen time as human beings and main characters. Tiana and Naveen are human for so little time, and the main character in Soul the same thing applies. Why can't we just be main characters in human form for a long period of time as main characters? 😭 Even Ariel spends more time as a human than a fish. Edit: I'm referring to their animated movies, specifically.
@@earthing3696 I don't think it's as much the fault of the artists as it is the fault of the Disney company bigwigs/executives etc...all the movies have to be approved to be even funded and often there is p strict requirements of what gets approved, and it sucks ass
The only thing I dislike about this Disney princess, and a few other films that depict positive Black characters, is they spend majority of the movie as an animal or inanimate object. Weird. But as always, I enjoy you all's commentary. So refreshing to hear men speak respectfully about women, and humans just in general. Love this channel!
What makes Tiana and Naveen's relationship so great is the chemistry both of them have together. The way they banter is so fun in my opinion because it reflects a real life relationship. Yes, Naveen didn't get enough character development. However, this is a Disney movie. Most Disney princes have no character at all (I'm looking at you Prince Eric). The fact is, that both Naveen and Tiana brought each other out of their comfort zones and made each other better people. This is what it means to be in a healthy relationship. Neither Tiana or Naveen completely changed their personalities for each other. However, they both recognized that they had flaws and decided to work on them once they found the right partner. One of the best Disney couples in my opinion.
@btamamura as a character, I can agree that Prince Eric did have some charming points, but when I'm talking about character, I'm talking about the ability for a person to be able to stand out on their own in a Disney movie. While watching The Little mermaid, I feel as if we did not get to spend enough time seeing him as an individual. Yes, he had a couple of moments where he got to show off his skills. However, I don't know enough about him to say that he's not just another generic Prince shipped out of the Disney machine. Again, this is not me saying that he is a boring character. However, I also can't say that he's anything other than basic.
I'm sure Lottie WOULD have given Tiana the money, but honestly I don't think Tiana would take it. Tiana's character is all about hard work to get what you want. A handout from her rich friend? Nah, she would never take one. Heck, even when Tiana's dress got ruined, Lottie had to 'loan' her the blue dress. Lottie, who doesn't wear any color but pink and just so happens to have a gorgeous blue dress that fits Tiana perfectly?
Interestingly enough she probably paid Tiana's mother to make that dress for Tiana probably hoping that she would go out and have some fun so she would have something nice to wear
It's just occurred to me how silly Naveen was to think Tiana was a princess in the first place. Like, did he not know anything about the nation he was visiting before he got there? Did he think a woman with a Louisiana accent would be a princess? Of a nation which famously is NOT a monarchy? 😂
He probably doesn't know the accents that well. He doesn't know what kingdom she's from or why she talks like that. She could be visiting too. And he clearly wa supposed to come in his formal attire so he probably didn't even know it was a costume party.
I actually think the romance between Naveen and Tiana was more successful than y'all made it out to be. A major theme of the movie that Mama Odie brings up is separating your wants vs your needs. Tiana and Naveen each represent two extremes of a spectrum, the spectrum between hard work and personal pleasure. Obviously Tiana is far towards hard work and Naveen is far towards personal pleasure, but the thing is, as people, we need to achieve a balance between the two. Each of them thinks they WANT to lean towards the extreme side that they're on, but what they NEED is to be balanced. The reason they fall in love is because each of them forces the other towards that balanced point. Naveen forces Tiana to actually have fun for once like her friends tried to do in the beginning; this is something that she needs in her soul, so her attraction to him starts there (even if she doesn't understand it). On the other end, Tiana forces Naveen to actually work hard for her attention. She doesn't let him lay around doing nothing, she makes him help. That's something that he doesn't think he WANTS, but deep down it's what he NEEDS. That deep feeling of "oh wait, this is making me feel better" is what makes each of them attracted to the other. That's just my two cents though. Obviously everyone will interpret the movie differently!
You forget that Tiana never allowed herself any kind of social life. She finally had to stop working and go on an adventure. It's understandable she'd get caught up in a moonlight dance, and the romance of it. Doesn't mean she'd ever do anything about it, had her plans worked the way she expected.
I'm not gonna lie, I'm actually surprised by the reaction to Naveen 😂 I always thought he was charming and funny even if he was lazy and irresponsible. Top 3 disney princes for me. Eugene first, Naveen second, and Prince Charming (Cinderella 3) third.
yeah i agree w this!! i think if they've been friends for such a long time and knew each other so well, there's a reason why Lottie hadn't given Tiana all the money in the first place? i can understand that it can feel kinda shitty to have to ask for money (especially if it's a lot to open a restaurant), and tiana probably made it clear that she wanted to earn the money herself
@@aspensastrology7964 They didn't celebrate because of his election tho. They celebrated because of Naveen's arrival and I'm pretty sure you don't get a visit from a prince every year
@@aspensastrology7964 they probably could have given up jobs and they probably offered but Tiana could have viewed it as a Pity job and the only reason she didn't with this one was because she knew that Lottie always wanted to be with the prince don't have nothing to do with the money and Tiana can still feel like she earned it instead of it being give it to her
38:40 I usually enjoy your reactions and this one was pretty fun! 💚 However, I feel like you both missed the point here. It's not that Tiana needs to get with Naveen, it's that she needs to recognise that her dream of owning a restaurant shouldn't take over the entirety of her way of living life. We see from the start that she doesn't leave time to simply *enjoy life with* other people, because she thinks the only worthy way of spending her time is working. But that way of thinking isn't healthy or true. Later, Tiana was so engulfed with the idea that getting her restaurant was the most important thing in her life that she genuinely considered making a deal with Dr Facilier and going against her moral compass. That is the slippery slope that she was about to fall down. Mama Odie was trying to get Tiana to realise that there is so much more to life than just work and conventional "success". Loving and being loved by others (platonic, familial or romantic) is the greatest gift of all. Love is what kept her father going and enjoying life despite never achieving what he wanted. Because he had what he needed 🥰
One thing I've noticed about this channel is that they tend to read too much into things to appear more woke in a way when it never really is that serious and although I appreciate the effort it tends to be quite annoying XD
You guys were a little hard on Naveen, it's not all his fault because it was his parents who spoiled him. He was molded to be a spoiled brat and he should've learned hard work long before he was grown of which his parents failed.
Yeah and when they say he just realized at that point that he doesn't know how to do anything I don't think that's true I think that realization came to him when they first cut him off which is why he was so serious about marrying Lottie because he didn't feel like he could do anything or be somebody without the money but Tiana showed him that there's more to him and he can do these things like simply mince some mushrooms for someone who I've never really had to brush their teeth by themselves that makes actually a big impact knowing that they can do it
the Almost There sequence art style is inspired by 1920s art deco posters and i remember being obsessed with that fact when I found out. this movie does it all
Lottie is so funny 😂 they did an excellent job on her animation to make her bubbly and energetic. God bless her. I went to see the movie when it came out in theaters and thought it’s okay. But now that I’m older, I can appreciate the culture of New Orleans, jazz and the 1920s era, despite the Great Depression 😬 Now I’m constantly singing “Almost There” because it’s like the 21st century’s “A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes” about hard work and achieving your goals.
The way me and my cousin was bought to the movies and we were against each other’s movies and I won so I made him watch princess and the frog never even regretted it 😌
This was supposed to be set in the 1920’s and it’s so sweet that Tiana and Lottie were able to be friends and the scenes of the movie are so beautiful.
I think y’all may have been digging a biiiiiit too deep with the whole “Lottie being a predator” thing at the end😅 she didn’t actually wanna wait to marry him lmao
@@jinphany. honestly I don't think she was being sarcastic but I don't think she was being predatory either I think she was literally just talking about the dance because she never got to actually dance with Naveen because you notice after she says that she starts to dance more by pretty-much swinging him around around a little bit dancing more just enjoying the fact that she's dancing with a princess after waiting this long
One thing I love about this movie is that Lottie isn't characterised as some spoilt, rich girl. She's a compassionate and considerate friend who happens to be rich. She could've easily taken Naveen for herself, but she wanted happiness for Tiana. Lottie is a really good friend.
She is amazing she never looks down on Tiana I genuinely believe that Tiana and her mother made a large impact on lottie's life making her more humble she was like the mother that she didn't have and Tiana was like her sister who kept her grounded while still being spoiled but not to the point where she was as bad as Naveen in the beginning
Lottie is such a great friend: At the beginning of the film at the costume party, she leaves her prince to help her friend! She also has the dream of becoming a princess and does everything for it. Rapunzel's dream is to see the lanterns and does everything for it, why should Charlotte called to be egoistical?!! And this is exactly the dream she gives up for her best friend. I think that's wonderful about her !!
@@themoviebud1988 I should have phrased it differently ... but I've already read a few comments under (reaction) videos in which Lottie was not exactly sympathetic to people because she didn't give Tiana any money for her restaurant, or because she should have supported Tiana a lot more. I'm just thinking that she is a very good friend and wanted to say that :)
I've never found their bonding wierd, he is drawn to her because of her commitment towards everything in life and she is drawn to him because he shows her life. One of the oldest stories in the book. 😝 (Also I think he realized before that he was a "up to no good person" but that didn't mean he knew what to do, so he just kept on partying, trying to get money to keep his life as was.)
I can agree and let's compare Naveen to another Disney prince Beast Naveen may have been jerk but Beast was not only mildly abusive in the beginning he literally captured her and just like Naveen wanting to be with Lottie Beast only wanted to be with a belle because he had something to gain which is the complete opposite with Naveen and Tiana he has nothing to gain other than her love when he has a lot to gain with marrying Lottie the life he wants ( or thinks he wants ) but he comes to realize that he didn't want that and he genuinely likes being with Tiana she doesn't make him better she makes him want to be better
I feel like yall just overthinking this whole Naveen plot about him being a shitty guy lol. It's lowkey annoying, everytime he pops on screen yall just hating on this character. Like why? Lol the only thing to me that he's done "bad" is he was spoiled
I think it's because he is totally an f-boy. He's exactly like those tik tok F boy thirst traps. I personally find that to be really repulsive and instantly makes me dislike any man with that personality no matter what they look like. To me they always come off as manipulative and so in love with themselves they can never truly care about anyone else. It's really a very selfish personality type. But Naveen definitely screams F boy so even though he didn't technically do anything that wrong he's clearly really self-absorbed and in love with himself, and in real life those traits go hand in hand with manipulation, insincerity and selfishness. So I agree with their commentary on him. But I can see how someone who isn't as repulsed by that personality type can think they're being really harsh. Because they are taking what that type of man is like in real life and adding that to the character of Naveen.
@@WhitneyDahlin ok, but if that used to make naveen happy spending his life like that then who are we to judge. It's not just his fault, it takes girls to make a guy an f-boy (assuming they're straight). Truly the only thing he did was live an entitled life where he became weak and lazy because of the pampering he got, and Tiana worked herself too hard, so they met at just the right time, and she helped him to see that he dont wanna be lazy no more.
I always thought that at the end, Lottie was commenting on how long she waited to dance with the prince, and then it didn’t matter how old he was, just that she got a dance with a real prince. I don’t think she meant that she was going to wait until he was old enough to Marry, just said she wanted that little moment because that was her dream this whole time. She doesn’t really care if it comes true anymore though, because she’s a pretty solid character
Now why y’all going so hard on Lottie😭😭 she’s such a loving and supportive friend. Tiana would literally have never accepted her friend’s money. And I get it, it would seem too much like charity, it would make the friendship very complicated.
I always feel bad for Naveen when he tells Tiana that he doesn't know how to do anything. It's like imagine growing up having everything given to you, having people do everything for you. Then all of a sudden, you become a certain age and your parents tell you that you have to figure your life out. What are you gonna do, you don't know how to do anything. How are you gonna live? His parents didn't raise him. They just gave him everything and then when they decided to stop they just told him to figure it out.
I usually like your commentary, but I could not understand why you were bashing Prince Naveen so much, while seeing absolutelly no wrongs with Tiana. Sure, he had vices, but it's possible to change when you see a good example in front of you (something he probably never had). I dont see him changing for Tiara preciselly, but because of her. I would also think that he would be able to change if instead of a Tiana there was a guy friend who had a possitive influence. Maybe the pacing of the story wasnt done right to show his change, but shitting so much all over him... that's not right. As for Tiana - I like her. I think she is great, but that doesnt mean she doesnt have vices as well. You seem to be blind to those. Like having a goal is good, but being too obsessed about it to ignore friends, etc that's not a great personality trait. Plus Naveen was right - she was a stick in the mud who needed to losen up a bit. Stress is not great for our body or for our soul.
Yes! I l was thinking the same as you. I loved that message of the film and how Naveen and Tiana helps each other to enhance their personality. Tiana is my favorite princess because I see myself in her, but as someone who has suffered from stress and depression I can totally see her vices.
Fr! They shit on naveen so hard about him being a jerk, but they was doing the exact same towards him and just completely turned their eyes at the signs of development he showed. Besides, entitled and ignorant and lazy, naveen is those things. A complete rude, mean, cruel jerk he is absolutely not.
Yeah and honestly I can say it annoys me a lot more because I watched the reaction for Beauty and the Beast and they give Beast a lot more leeway than Naveen and Beast is a lot worse two pretty much everyone's around him than Naveen is
i think its okay to realize by meeting someone that u need to change. as long as u start to put effort moving forward which i think is what happened with naveen. tiana lacks a life other than working constantly. naveen lacks work but doesnt lack finding the fun in life. they can both give each other something new together. it did move fast but it makes sense to me due to the time this film was made. most disney princess films are known for love happening very fast. if anything this one happens less fast than most lmao.
I know and personally I think her relationship was handled very nicely because they both had something they need to change about themselves and together they both fixed each other's problem
I’m from Louisiana and this movie was so special to me and my family/friends. It really does accurately capture the culture, music, food, and vibe of Louisiana (especially New Orleans). The movie isn’t perfect of course (like the underdeveloped love story), but I still really love it!
this is favourite disney ‘princess’ movie (next to mulan) because the jazz soundtrack is so fun! I’m devastated disney have stopped their 2D animation too because this was such a beautiful movie but totally went under the radar.
I currently go to Tulane University, and I am from New Orleans. It warms my heart to see people enjoy this movie as much as I do. It certainly has its faults, and I was happy to see y'all talk about those criticisms. I love y'all's reactions!!! Come visit sometime!
I'm not gonna say their opinion is wrong as, by definition, opinions can't be wrong per se. BUT, they were overly harsh on Naveen whose only real crime was being spoiled, and that was his parents' fault. He opened up about not knowing how to do anything and they shit all over what was meant to be a touching moment. It's a Disney movie so yes the romance is rushed but that's also do the scope of the movie only being like a day or three. That being said Naveen and Tiana compliment each other really well so the romance works. One shows the other how to live life like a normal person and that one in turn pulls the other out of the complacency that's been instilled in them. My two cents anyway. I really loved this movie when it came out. First Disney movie I loved in awhile
Yeah I agree with you they were harsh on him and Lottie as I'm sure she meant to dance with a real Prince not to date the child they made that weird it also about Lottie not just giving Tiana the money when Tiana's character clearly shows that she wouldn't just take free money and would want to work for it but because Lottie paid her for a job ( not a Pity job ) she gladly accepted the money as payment
Top Brutal deaths in Disney so far 1. Mufasa's death 2. Dragged to hell in princess in the frog 3. Brutal hanging in Tarzan 4. Bambi's mom being shot 5. Keep adding on to the list
Mother gothel getting owned by a chameleon and falling from the tower And gaston.. also falling from a height (Lots of plummeting to the death in Disney)
Princess movies are naturally knowing that person for a day, what movie besides Mulan, which really wasn't a princess, but is my favorite movie has not fall in love in a day.
I love the color palette, foreshadowing and symbolism for this movie. Naveen dropping the coin looking at Tiana because she's worth more, looking at her through the pearl instead of the pearl, the skulls illuminating behind Dr. Facilier, Naveen on the lily pad, the water drops sparkling on the flowers when Ray was singing, the wrinkles on Mama Odie's face, I could go on. Also this being the last 2d animation, it was a box office hit.
Well I mean, there are people in your life you meet and their influence makes you want to be better or change your whole outlook. That's what I love about their love story. They didn't go in trying to fix each other, they just grew together. Even if it was such a short amount of time, in true Disney fashion.
Ray and Evangeline is a reference to the Acadian folk song 'Evangeline'. When the British invaded Acadia (french colony in Canadian Maritimes), they displaced a large portion of the men to Louisiana. This was to prevent the Acadians further populating their community, in attempts to kill the culture adn encourage integration with the British. Out of this history came the love story of Evangeline. A peom written about lovers seperated and never physically reuniting. This is why they point out Ray's accent, to recognize the french (acadian) culture present in Louisiana.
I think Lottie would’ve tried to give Tia money but given her ethic and hardworking nature she wouldn’t of accepted it. So her giving The money for working the party was a perfect way for her to help
As a black New Orleans native and female..this movie was EVERYTHING TO ME when I was younger and I watch it with my daughter to this day..but what I really appreciate andlove about this is how true Disney was to Louisiana culture..creole culture jazz the importance of food in Louisiana is crazyyy lol.. but that scene when Tiana made gumbo n everyone was invited over...that's really real..I love my city💜💜
Fried frogs, catfish, and alligator are 'delicacies' here in the Southern US. Particularly in Louisiana and Florida. Never had them but have seen it around lol
Well, he did say that he realized that he didn’t know how to do anything when his parents cut him off. So most of his character arc has already passed off screen. The voodoo guy just gave him an easy way out from his stress over what to do now in life. Taking credit does pretty much the same thing. It promises you great wealth and then fucks your over in the end. His meeting with Tiana, when she was the first to not go for his looks, to reprimand him, to teach him. That’s what so different about her than every other girl. And yeah, we can’t spend too much time fleshing out their characters in a children’s movie. Also Fairy Tale
About Mama Odie in the snake, there's a huge theory that the snake is her husband and the shadow man is her son. He turned his father into a snake and left the bayou. It's also theorized the fangs he wears around his neck or the fathers since he doesn't have any
i don't really get how people can interpret charlotte's "little brother" joke/scene as something predatory, sexual, gross, etc. her whole character is that she wants to be a princess, and live happily ever after with a prince. like. that's literally all she's thinking. she says so to naveen himself. "we're gonna get married and live happily ever after". she's a great character but /clearly/ all she wants is to live a fairy tale. that's where her head is at. i don't say this in a mean way, but she's literally such an airhead with her head in the clouds (due to privilege, being spoiled, etc). ...she just wants to be a princess yall, it's not that deep. this is /charlotte/ we're talking about lol she obv has a very childish (read: naive) view of the world herself. sex is the last thing on her mind, goodness
I don't even think she was thinking about that when she said that I think she literally just meant the dance because she never got to dance with a prince and never got that moment and she said she waited this long and started dancing with him more like I'm going to enjoy the fact that I'm dancing with a prince no matter what his age is
Tiana always wanted to earn her restaurant. She wanted it to be hers. Something she built from the ground up. It wasn’t until she saw her dreams collapse when the bankers told her someone else bid more that she began considering a short cut (quick fix) by getting money from the Prince. Lottie would have given Tiana the money had she asked. She clearly never did. Lottie never treated her badly and was her best friend.
Also if you noticed when she tries to do the so called quick fix Tiana says "this is what I get for Wishing on Stars" as in this is what I get for taking a shortcut also that's the reason why she completely misses the point of the song dig a Little Deeper because she automatically assumes that she has to work harder because she didn't get her dream
I hate explaining this because I know it sounds weird when you first watch it. But when Lottie says, “I’ve waited this long” it was her joking that she was gonna wait till he came of age THEN she was gonna marry him. It was suppose to be a joke. But it was clearly distasteful. I think it would’ve been funnier if she saw another prince there and pounced/fainted on him. That would’ve been hysterical! But-ya know.
Feel like you guys are being too harsh on Tiana and Naveen's relationship. I mean it's a kids movie and while he is pretty annoying in the beginning i feel like if you look at it from a simpler point of view their growth is kind of cute. And also like you said it's an hour and 30 minute long movie, what do you expect. And also alos the moral isn't "marry a guy and give up your dream". The point is that Tiana has no time for herself, she's done nothing but work bc she thinks that's what her dad wanted. She has no social life other than Lottie and no love life bc she's just working constantly. Her dad did tell her to work for her dreams but he didn't say that's all she had to do. She can love and work hard at the same time. And she has the right to do it to. The problem is that she thinks she doesn't deserve/need it. That's the point of the movie, not "let me give up my dreams for this guy"
I honestly think facilier would have honored his agreement with tiana, he really only seems to have it out for rich/privileged people. She was caught in the crossfire and was never meant to be one of his victims. He just underestimated her ability to have changed her dream like in a day and willingness to go against him for love, something that NEVER came up in his magic background check
I feel like y'all get so caught up in being 'woke' that sometimes you forget to enjoy the movie for what it is, not what you think it's trying to be. Don't get me wrong, there's nothing bad about trying to remain self-aware and conscious of how certain storytelling tropes/elements can appear, but as a viewer it can be a little frustrating to see y'all pretty frequently miss the metaphorical forest for the trees.
Fr. They complained so much abt character growth and all that, but were still caught up on who naveen was at the beginning of the film. And tbf all he ever was was spoilt and entitled, he doesn't have a bad heart with bad intentions. Same goes for lottie.
easily my all time favorite disney princess movie. I love that she and Naveen both help each other to be better in the end, bc she's flawed as well but in a realistic way and a way that doesn't make her unlikable. also, and that doesn't really affect the quality of the movie per se but it's important to me, her outfits are the absolute best
Notice how in the song: friends on the other side. They each got what they wanted. Prince naveen got freedom, by “hopping around from place to place.” And also it was the “green” that he needed to a archive it. The bultler guy got what he wanted, bc he turned into prince naveen. “Someone he’s walkways wanted to be”
I mean I do think it works on the same way are a lot of road trip of buddy cop movies. You know where you have two characters of two extremes and they learn to meet in the middle. Tiana is someone who is all work and no play and Naveen is all play and no work. They both have to realise that it's not healthy to be like that and that both fun and hard work is important. I think the movie did that. I also don’t necessarily think he is that creepy or as awful in the first place. He is used to women reacting a certain to him because of his looks and title as prince. Also his family being royalty probably does mean that an arranged marriage isn't that weird to him. He would figure that" well she'll be happy for the status" because that's his experience, and he would be right where Lotti is concerned. Frankly he's just spoiled and unfamiliar with real relationships. I would have liked that to have been explored a bit more in the movie since it would make sense that a genuine connection with someone formed when he has neither his looks or his title would be so precious. Also that scene with the gumbo in the swamp is the first time he's ever eaten something he's been a part of making probably so that is actually a mile stone.
Fun fact, comparing the star to previous Disney films it's theorized the Evangeline is both the Blue fairy from Pinocchio and the second star to the right from Peter pan
you guys should definitely do commentaries on harry potter! i think it'd be super entertaining and coincidentally harry potter is on aussie netflix right now :)
Younger me would’ve never noticed how the guy said some thing about Tiana‘s “background” until now I am completely shocked, and of all my years of watching this movie I never noticed how the dog talked back 😂 I’m also glad that Tiana‘s friend wasn’t the jealous type even though she gets everything I actually like her as the crazy friend at least she’s supportive
I agree about having conflicted feelings for this film. I really dislike that the main characters are not human for so much of the film, which is a sentiment shared by many people about this depiction of POC in a Disney film. I like/love the songs as a soundtrack, but agree that some musical scenes feel jarring in their placement and I also still can't figure out why? I LOVE Almost There and Friends on the Other Side. I love Ray, Facilier and Lottie - and all the animation styling around Facilier, shadows and voodoo - and the scenes that use the art style of the Tiana's Place flyer she inherited from her father. I like the exploration of so much of New Orleans. I appreciated the characterisation of a Disney princess as a hard worker, but also considering the family and friends are introduced from the start, I like that they also make a point of showing that love (not only romantic) is important too.
Yea I definitely agree. The first black princess and she literally has to work hard/be a frog the entire movie vs all the other princesses aside from Cinderella. And even in Cinderella, after she was married, she didn’t have to work at all. Idk I have mixed feelings about those creative decisions on disneys part. But iconic movie overall
@@jdani9625 I don't think Tiana would be happy putting her feet up once she got married. Her dream wasn't to be and never have to work again, it was to run a restaurant an she finally achieved it. I agree with the frog thing though, I just think her working is realistic and I like it.
@@jdani9625 the thing is, unlike literally every other Disney Princess movie, this one takes place in a specific time period. And yes, while it might be annoying for the black princess to have to work (even tho she wants to) and the white princesses don’t have to, this story takes place a bit more realistic where ppl have to work to survive, instead of a “partly medieval/European based kingdom of far, far away”.
@@Kait_B_ my point is she’s the only princess who’s dream it was to work for a living. I don’t like that. Kinda pushing the agenda that black women need to aspire to work hard in life to get what they want as opposed to literally every other Disney princess
@@ma.2089 but even then, her friend didn’t have to work, even her black friends weren’t working. My issue comes in at the creative decision to make the first and only black princess a “working girl” vs everybody else. Pushing an agenda imo
42:30 I think what you're trying to say is "The person doesn't change you, you change yourself for the person". In this movie Tinana changed Navein. In the beauty and the Beast the beast WANTED to change himself without her help.
Fun fact: the first time my family and I watched this, we started cheering and laughing when Ray said his line “y’all from Shreveport??” Because I was born there
I love how everyone misunderstands Lotties bit at the end with Prince Na'aveens little brother. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 she's not looking to marry the child, she's just saying 'I've waited this long' meaning that since she's waited that long, she'll wait some more. Y'all make her out to be a weirdo when she's really the best kinda person you want to be a friend.
I know and they really get on her for not just giving Tiana the money but knowing Tiana's character She's Too Proud to just take the money freely when lottie's character shows that she definitely would have given Tiana the money or offered at some point but Tiana would refuse because she wants to work for it and feel like she earned it
Great reaction as always but as many others have pointed out, I feel like the obvious reason Lottie wouldn't just give Tiana money is that they're friends and if a rich friend just gave you money to start a business, especially if Tiana's saving her whole life is a down payment only, and so the money Lottie would give her would have to be many times that just casually, Tiana wouldn't take it because pride. That said, Lottie does seem to commission a lot of dresses and go to the restaurant Tiana works at, presumably tipping her well to help with her dream in the way that she can. I really liked Lottie because we see how spoiled and single-minded she is in her persuit of a prince but she happily gives it up in a second because her friend and the prince are in love. It's really sweet and a really unexpected turn for that character.

Great job all around.
Thank you for the content and I hope you have a great deal of success and a swell day
Gee, only 9 hours after posting and you’re more than halfway there! Love the good news guys 😍

Ok to everything, but this is WAYYYYYYY before the end of segregation.
@@ameliecarre4783 alright, I’ll change it I thought it was after 😅
Ohmygosh YESSSSS!!!!!!!! This comment.......👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
She helps Tiana when she's down at the ball but leaves Tiana when she seems okay even though she's still sad because Lottie's focused on her own dream, but sacrifices her dreams for Tiana at the end of the movie.
yea
I feel like Lottie would be an amazing friend to have but her personality would be a little overwhelming for me.

It's not a theory because when Ray died he joins Evangeline he turns into a star.
Yeah that part with ray wasn’t a theory Lml it actually happened even tho we can’t physically see it

I think some people expected a growth as obvious as it was in tangled, for example, but both are so similar lmao
Definitely one of the best Disney couples based on their character development as partners. And, they definitely win the award for best banter.
Agreed.
They’re wrong on one fact, people change because they want to change, cause they want to improve, and Naveen realizes that he wants to change himself to help Tianna
she’s the one who makes him want to be a better person and change his ways.
also the whole film is making the point what you want (your dreams) aren’t always as important as what you need (appreciating who and what you have)
and the point is that both Tianna and Naveen realize that what they want isn't as important as what they need each other to balance themselves out
and it’s because of them going with what they need that they both get what they want as well later on.

Yes I agree, very well said.

You people have absolutely no idea how hard the theater in New Orleans erupted into laughter upon hearing "Y'all from Shreveport?" Disney actually did some research and found some good local jokes, and I cannot praise them enough for it.

If you look closely, you’ll notice that during “Friends on the Other Side” (11:22 in particular) the shadow changes the design of the wallpaper to skulls and crossbones anywhere it stands.

Dude! Never noticed that before.
People completely ignore the fact that Tiana says Big Daddy comes to the restaurant every day
My point exactly and I don't really like how they pretty much make Lottie out to be a predator when I'm pretty sure she was talking about the Prince dance and not actually planning on marrying him
The design of Tiana's blue dress and hair from the party is actually from Cinderella (1997) with Brandy.
That is a fantastic fact! I love ‘97 Cinderella so much. I hope they watch it though.
I just watched that movie the other day the actress who plays Cinderella was stunning I love that dress.

And her mom 'wanting grandkids' is very typically grandma but also that feeling of 'who will love/care about my child once I'm gone or remind her to not run herself into the ground?'
Even with these hiccups I really liked all the characters, Lottie included and I'm 100% certain the thing with Naveen's brother was meant to be a joke LOL
I have no idea why they took the end joke so seriously. Like, I love these guys, but fucking chill when it comes to that.
I actually like that he wants to change bc of her. He never had a reason to want to change and seeing how hardworking and dedicated Tiana is made him want to be better bc it made him realize how lazy and unrewarding his life is. Sometimes you need that push to want to become a better person. Him changing in one day is definitely a stretch but to change for someone else is not far fetched or weird at all
Fair nuff, I appreciate your thoughts 😊 - Sam
Thanks for saying it. I've seen people change for love all the time. And are happy together. 😊 one day is not happening though 🤣🤣

Lol true, but she could’ve just been a visiting princess 😂 you never know!
I 100% agree! I wish they figured this out during the video
100% agree! They complimented each other and made each other better by influencing each other and I think it's beautiful.
You forget that Tiana never allowed herself any kind of social life. She finally had to stop working and go on an adventure. It's understandable she'd get caught up in a moonlight dance, and the romance of it. Doesn't mean she'd ever do anything about it, had her plans worked the way she expected.
Also to be fair with them getting married we don't know how much time passed after Ray's death
I'm not gonna lie, I'm actually surprised by the reaction to Naveen 😂 I always thought he was charming and funny even if he was lazy and irresponsible. Top 3 disney princes for me. Eugene first, Naveen second, and Prince Charming (Cinderella 3) third.
He is meh
Pretty sure Tiana wouldn't have liked it if Lottie gave her all the money
yeah i agree w this!! i think if they've been friends for such a long time and knew each other so well, there's a reason why Lottie hadn't given Tiana all the money in the first place? i can understand that it can feel kinda shitty to have to ask for money (especially if it's a lot to open a restaurant), and tiana probably made it clear that she wanted to earn the money herself
Lottie's dad won 4 years prior. Are you saying she couldn't have hired her each of those times and given her the same amount of money each time?

Tiana needed to realize that there was more to being human than working her whole life and missing out on the relationships around her.

@@key1853 This. This right here is my biggest gripe with their commentary.

Yeah it really isn’t that deep. People really like to slap the “pedo” label on everything out of suspicion way too often.
Fr. You could literally tell in her voice that she was being sarcastic and joking around 😭
@@jinphany. honestly I don't think she was being sarcastic but I don't think she was being predatory either I think she was literally just talking about the dance because she never got to actually dance with Naveen because you notice after she says that she starts to dance more by pretty-much swinging him around around a little bit dancing more just enjoying the fact that she's dancing with a princess after waiting this long
One thing I love about this movie is that Lottie isn't characterised as some spoilt, rich girl.
Lottie is such a great friend:
At the beginning of the film at the costume party, she leaves her prince to help her friend!
She also has the dream of becoming a princess and does everything for it. Rapunzel's dream is to see the lanterns and does everything for it, why should Charlotte called to be egoistical?!! And this is exactly the dream she gives up for her best friend. I think that's wonderful about her !!
Who called her egotistical? - Sam
@@kurikuri6683 Gotcha, totally agree. We really enjoyed her character 😊 - Sam
I've never found their bonding wierd, he is drawn to her because of her commitment towards everything in life and she is drawn to him because he shows her life. One of the oldest stories in the book. 😝
(Also I think he realized before that he was a "up to no good person" but that didn't mean he knew what to do, so he just kept on partying, trying to get money to keep his life as was.)
I think we also forgetting that he was willing to change jow he is to be witha women and even taking up her interest
Pretty sure she was just joking, there were a lot of jokes in this movie that they just took too seriously
I’m surprised you guys don’t like this Disney couple, literally everyone I’ve ever met has loved this couple😅
Now why y’all going so hard on Lottie😭😭 she’s such a loving and supportive friend. Tiana would literally have never accepted her friend’s money. And I get it, it would seem too much like charity, it would make the friendship very complicated.
"Get to bed YA'LL FROM SHREVEPORT" is such an underrated line, I'm glad you guys chuckled at it a little haha!
Not me at 17 in the movie theater weeping over a cartoon lightning bug. You're both right; Ray is the best character!
Tiana is my favorite princess because I see myself in her, but as someone who has suffered from stress and depression I can totally see her vices.
it's because they're reading too much into it
The delivery of the lines in this movie is PHENOMENAL.
I’m from Louisiana and this movie was so special to me and my family/friends. It really does accurately capture the culture, music, food, and vibe of Louisiana (especially New Orleans). The movie isn’t perfect of course (like the underdeveloped love story), but I still really love it!
I'm pretty sure the end part with Lottie and the Prince's brother was about her waiting this long to _dance_ with a prince not date one 😂
this is favourite disney ‘princess’ movie (next to mulan) because the jazz soundtrack is so fun!
Good 😊 I appreciate that you can see we enjoyed it despite having a few criticisms of it.
Thanks so much for your support! - Sam
Top Brutal deaths in Disney so far
1. Mufasa's death
2. Dragged to hell in princess in the frog
3. Brutal hanging in Tarzan
4. Bambi's mom being shot
5. Keep adding on to the list
The amazing ray being squished to death 😭
Mother gothel getting owned by a chameleon and falling from the tower
And gaston.. also falling from a height
(Lots of plummeting to the death in Disney)
Beast being stabbed (he comes back but still)
I never realised when Ray asks where theyre from and they say fare away he responds with Shreveport. and something about that is sooooo funny.
Fun fact: Bruno Campos, the actor who plays Naveen, actually went to law school and is now practicing law
@@caradiel2644
Exactly 👍
I agree, it's becoming annoying
Fr. They complained so much abt character growth and all that, but were still caught up on who naveen was at the beginning of the film. And tbf all he ever was was spoilt and entitled, he doesn't have a bad heart with bad intentions. Same goes for lottie.
@@jinphany. right
The synchronized “nice” when tianas dad said her gumbo was the best made me snort laugh
easily my all time favorite disney princess movie.
We will, just no promises on when exactly. They're too huge to ignore lol - Stef
"In your future its the green that I see"
He got what he wanted😭😭
No no no no lottie wasn't in love with the six year old. That dance was her way of letting go of her prince dream. That's what that line meant😂
Fun fact: the first time my family and I watched this, we started cheering and laughing when Ray said his line “y’all from Shreveport??” Because I was born there
Everyone: Prefers 2D over 3D.
Disney: Everyone just loves 3D, we’re so sure of it, we don’t need to ask.
This and Mulan are my favorite Disney princess movies!!
Makes sense. I would add Sleaping Beauty myself, but then I like that it's just a long Tchiakovsky music video essentially.
And Moana!
That 🐊 character was hilarious! “The Choreography and The Topography…” 😂
Dr. Facilier and Rasputin have similar endings. It'd be cool if you guys did a commentary on Anastasia (1997).
Coco, arguable the best animated Disney film of all time should be next though amirite?
Not next, but it’s definitely on the short list 😊 - Sam
