Man I'll be honest, I bought this game about 2 weeks ago and I made it as far as controlling adult ciri for the first time, I feel completely overwhelmed by the skills and combat. I feel like I'm playing the game wrong and I don't understand the menus very well. Is there something I am missing? Have I not put in enough time? Is the game about to open up? Don't get me started on gwent... I'm at the point where I need to start the game over or just never play it. I'd like your opinion
Justin Carpenter gwent is a separate game in a game, don't worry about it. Combat and menu are really easy in this game, just take it easy and take things slow. Lots of the magic and potions are useless except for certain trophies. I mainly played melee, it was great. Once you get into the story, it's is a truly amazing experience.
People get personal about technology. How many tech nerds debate Apple vs Android? The PC Master Race crap is probably the most annoying though. It's all rather petty. If a grown man ever actually said the words "Sony Pony" in my presence, I'd probably beat their ass for their own good. That and shave off their neck beard like a Good Samaritan.
I mean seriously? How many grown men argue about a sports team they have absolutely no control over or involvement with? Or Debates on politics like there's any universally right answer, as if lust, hate, lies, and greed dont exist in a man made system, seems pretty childish to me....most arguments are petty, or self centered, or half baked, dgaff if its over consoles or wars, tf cares who has the most "power" anyways...crap im sure there are poor children playing in garbage happier then some "rulers" ...tf outa here
One thing I'll add to general Graphics and Aesthetics: This is, by far, the best game to EVER depict Medieval era or real and natural environments for that matter. If you ever visited old European castles, especially in Central and Eastern Europe, or seen the reconstructed/perserved village, this game is like time travel session. Sure, there are dwarves, elves and what not, but everything looks just stellar, from faces and hairdos to clothing, to architecture, to music, etc. Each time I play a game designed by American devs (no rant or banter intended) I feel like it's their 'vision' of medieval, like it's some sort of theme park where people are dressed in what they think medieval era should look like, and not how it really looked like. Dragon Age being the greatest offender, with peasants living in huge houses with bookshelves, works of art and what not, and armor and weapon design taken from some poor cartoon. On other hand, we got Warcraft (which I personally like very much, but thre are things I find funny) and their fetish of having the biggest pauldrons on the planet XD It's like Shoulderpads are the core for the armor, lol. And of course weapons... Like someone started to draw a sword and couldn't finish, adding more ridiculous details every second. Witcher on other hand, is just spot on. You could take screenshots of this game for a history lesson. Atmosphere is *amazing*
undeny What a bullshit. Gameplay mechanics are so lackluster that the fact you didn't notice it shows how little you know about making video games properly; if you fuck up fights which are one of the major parts of the game then it's definitely not perfection. They didn't even make a proper AI or good bosses. Yeah, the story TELLING and side quests are really good (the story itself is not that special though). Same with music and visuals. But the gameplay... no, just no. Even horse races (which are one of VERY few mini games in the entire game) are fucked up.
Well heres the thing, please offer me a game that has story telling to that level, music and visuals at that level, AS WELL as what you would consider perfect game play? I mean, im nearly 100% positive you cant do that. Also with all the updates and modding community, you can perfect the game play as well(there is whole mods dedicated to game play balancing)
I generally don't play RPGS (the last one I played was Zelda twilight princess) but after 2 years I decided I had to play this game as people are still constantly praising it. The witcher was one hell of an adventure I'd sit down and play and next thing I knew 5 hours went by like nothing. I loved the story, characters, quests, and combat. I played on Death march difficulty for the trophy and at the start it was frustrating but by the end I mastered the combat, magic and enemy movements. As I completely the game watching the credits I was genuinely proud of myself as well as proud that my decisions shaped the outcome. I felt immersed in the world and at the end was really happy after 2 years I decided to finally play it
One thing worth mentioning is that you hear a lot of British accents, Welsh, Irish, Scottish as well English regional accents (Midlands, North East, etc) which seem (from what I have seen) to be relevant to specific areas of the Witcher's map.
Still my favorite game of all time. Hard to believe it's been two and half years. AC: Origins has borrowed heavily from this formula and is a fantastic game for it in its own right.
I'm glad you were more honest than the big name reviewers Karak. Instead of just slapping a score on the game you go more in depth than others. That's why we all keep coming back!
at first (for me) you were just a cool dude who talked funny on youtube with some interesing videos, but now you are my favourite reviewer! i've followed a game magazine for more than 10 years now, but they lack what you have - personality and originality! you have become my primary source for reviews now. your style is just so unique and funny and loveable, your eloquency astounds me every time. kudos to you good sir and please do carry on!
The game is spectacular... and then comes the horse. I hate the horse. Seriously. What a pointless death-deserving animal that is. I've never encountered an animal so determine to make me fail before. It's like its very presence is an attempt at raising blood pressure. "hold this button and the horse will automatically follow the road" Yeah, it's own fucking road, which usually includes a few trees and a fence. I genuinely think my horse was special, I didn't know whether to ride it or give it ice cream - there's a Cosby joke there somewhere. Even its spawn locations are a kick in the nuts. That thing should have been glue.
find the equestrian phantom quest in the blood and wine dlc, roach will explain why he acts that way...and you'll be surprise by his answers in the end you will find yourself laughing
I especially love when you're DIRECTLY controlling it, trying your hardest to make it go straight, and it randomly decides a 90 degree turn is necessary, or just stops in place for a good 5 seconds.
Mathew Gilbert for some reason I can't reply to your questions. The consoles did have some judder but what you sound liek your getting is worse. Tried rebooting?
assasinman1112 Skyrim is good if you like dumbed down garbage, regen quest, bad rpg elements, glitches, bad combat, bad writing, bad story, and lasyness. Skyrim is weathered sure, but it is no way organic.
assasinman1112 But to what end? To become the "Harbinger"/Archmage/Listener so you could continue to do the same pointless chores while the guards receive +1 stupid comment to their extensive repertoire. Those guild questlines are nothing more than lazy way to fill the game with meaningless content and avoid writing anything of actually decent quality. There is no player agency, no choice and consequence, no well written characters/story behind it, no diverse ways to handle it that allows you to roleplay ...this describes 95% of content in Skyrim, but people love it because it grants you absolute freedom on when or will to do that shit? It's world design, economy, npc and quest design is anything But 'organic'.
Gotta say man I love the wording in your reviews. You actually sound like your having fun in this. Very detailed, it's almost as if you had a year start to review these games and it's almost crazy that you get all this information in only days.
you should review blood and wine/hearts of stone as each of those expansions are better and much larger than the majority of full games out could even say they are both full blown games
ACG You're missing out man! If you ever find some time, at least play Hearts of Stone. It's story is the just about the best Witcher story I've experienced (and I've also read the books) and it's not awfully long. Reckon you could finish it in a day and a half, especially if you focus on the main quests.
I wish every fan of the Witcher trilogy or even just TW3 would have read the books. I think most fans would end up having an even greater overall experience. After reading the books you catch all of the little references, subtle hints and nods, get to know and understand characters on a deeper level and you can also catch the differences, both good and bad in between the games and books. A good example is characters like Roche, Letho, Ves are not even in the books and other characters like Iorveth are barely mentioned in the Witcher Saga but is a major character in TW2. CDPR expanded and built up a lot of minor characters from the novels and created some great original characters like Roche, Letho, Gaunter O'Dimm, Olgierd von Everec etc..
but whenever you have the time, you should play them. They are gems. Hearts of stone is one of the best stories i have seen in a game, while Blood and Wine is a fabulous, beautiful, and worthy ending of the greatest rpg of all time. Believe me they are 2 of the best dlcs ever, that are created with more care, and offer more content than full $60 games. They complete this fantastic game in a very nice, bittersweet end way, since they are very good and you want to keep playing and experiencing the story and living in the world, but you know that this is the last time you will be able to play it since cdpr have pretty much confirmed that they won't return to the witcher world and that geralt's story is concluded, at least for the next couple of years, so PLAY THE DLCS !
This review is great, Karak. I like the fonts used for "Dude's just gone". It seemed to blend with the game, for lack of a better term. I also noticed (or have just noticed) the new animations for introducing different segments of the review. They're sleek. Looking forward to more of your reviews!
TW3 is so damn good. The first expansion was great, and had a good amount of content for the money spent. Blood and Wine is shaping up to be another great addition to the game. 10/10 can't give these guys enough money.
By God I have seen and of course heard alot of video game reviews and gaming related videos in general but I have to say you my friend are a genuine savant wordsmith and I am a subscriber for life now. Your in depth review covered aspects of this game that few even thought about let alone addressed so exhaustively. Probably the best damn game review I have ever heard (creative description, honest opinion with solid logical comparison and even comical quips) and you have gained a true fan! *** I was waxing and waning about trying this game but NOW I MUST BUY THIS GAME!
This is the first review I've ever watched of yours, and it was charismatic, funny, interesting and waaay more informative than any other review I've seen of this game. You kept me interested for the whole 22 minutes, subscribed.
Crazy to watch this now. Playing The Witcher 3 on the Xbox one x with a 4K tv(hdr) is a game changer! (looks better than on pc)All of the problems acg had with the game (bugs, clipping, poor lighting, and frame drops) are now pretty much completely gone. Update after update CDProjekt Red created a masterpiece and my favorite game of all time! Great review though!!!
No that would be worse no offence because it be the exact same thing just with amplified graphics and there's alot of gameplay out right now of PC anyway
CZ Productions TotalBiscuit more than likely won't be touching The Witcher 3 whatsoever. The developers are sponsors for his esports team and he feels he wouldn't be able to do anything with it without being biased in one way or another and he doesn't see that as ethical for a journalist.
Not sure how it runs on consoles, but holy shit have I been impressed with PC optimization. I'm playing with an Nvidia GTX 660 TI GPU which is literally one notch above the official minimum reqs, and I've been running the game with all settings on at least high, including post processing (and using HBAO). Haven't had any fps drops. On PC it's technically spectacular
It looks good on ps4 but takes some time to load textures and there are a lot of fps drops everywhere. The games playable and i enjoyed playing it on console but its definitely not the best place to do it.
I was waiting for some games that enticed me to get a PS4. This...this right here... it is. I've never played Witcher but I LOVE LOVE LOVE to explore and I love love love me some RPG. It looks like a cleaner skyrim. :D
Chewie260 that was one of the most funniest things i ever saw in a video game, this badass geralt that you follow through 3 games acting like, wearing yens clothes that just made me burst out laughing :D
I know I'm years later but just picked up the complete edition for $30 and have been having a blast .. can't wait to get into the DLCs (about 80 hours away from that I'm sure)
This is one of the most in depth, detailed, rich and uniform reviews of the game I have yet come across. I always look forward to your game reviews, and as a person who does written reviews myself, I found your previous video about the problems with reviewers poignant and very informative! You are an inspiration! Thank you for making these amazing videos! :D
I only played the Witcher 3 for the first time in 2018, and I can only remember one or two bugs where an NPC was standing a foot off the ground, or Geralt was standing inside of Roach during a cut scene. Seems like they fixed a lot. Really enjoyed this game a ton. I’ve already begun a 2nd playthrough, wanting to 100% it. I’m not a Completionist either. I’ve been playing through God of War, Nier:Automata, and lately, RDR2, but I need a Witcher 3 fix every so often, and go back to enjoying a few hours when I have time, then back to the other game I’m focussing on. I appreciate the story much more on the 2nd playthrough. So many new names of places and people, I often had no idea what/who they were talking about, and I missed a lot the first half of the game, not being familiar with the Witcher series at all. Upped the difficulty, and a better understanding of the ability system make it better this time also. I thought the epic battles at Kaer Morhen and the final battle with the White Hunt were amazing. Boss battles are not the games strong points, but these sequences were tremendous.
The Witcher 3 is my favorite RPG of all time, and I've played pretty much every major and a large portion of the minor titles that have been released since I started on my AMD k6 "beast machine" back in 98 with Baldur's Gate & Tales of the Sword Coast. Nothing has made me as immersed as The Witcher 3 and there are a few scenes here that blew my mind. An honorable mention to a game that would've been my best RPG of the year if it came out last year, Pillars of Eternity, I know it's not for everyone but for an old school cRPG player like me it's perfect, it's everything I ever wanted. Still no Witcher 3 though..
THIS is why I love your channel...extensive, methodical and intelligent, easy to follow reviews with a good amount of humor, while looking at one aspect of the game from different perspectives. IGN should subscribe to this channel, no flattery intended here. Even though I'm pretty damn sure that this will be (one of) the best game I've ever played, I'm glad you are able to point good number of it's flaws as well.
Top notch review man..ive been following your reviews for a long time and they are more reliable than most other reviewers. Keep up the good work man...
Please do a review sort of thing on the new update on witcher that is supposed to come out..they said there will be a new difficulty level..a much tougher one..
I will still make my personal judgement, but you seem to be most specific reviewer when it comes to what the main quest actually entails and what are it's strenghts and weaknesses. With as many contradicting points as I've seen in reviews of this game, it's good to find out someone who puts forth both sides (positive and negative) of each area of a game. Thanks for this!
You sir are by far one of if not the best reviewer i have ever came across.I always watch your reviews last because you are the best.Thank you for always telling the truth.
Dude your vernacular is superb! That grammatical orgy of nouns and verbs used at the beginning of this review left me in a state of amazement. I'm thrilled to see that UA-cam is not just a haven for the fleek spewing, bae bellowing masses with sub standard "no English is my first language" ridiculousness. You sir have earned my subscription, Thank you.
Thank you man. Glad you liked it. I am sure at points we will disagree but as long as someone comes away from the review knowing how i came to MY decision than even if their is different we can still see some common ground
that i would also like to know...maybe Radovid? Emhyr? The Baron? or maybe that sick fuck psycho who butchered those women...dont remember his name but he was like a known mafia/criminal kind of dude....also i remember that geralt beat the shit out of him
Karak it is HELLA refreshing to see you put up a 22 minute review after talking about how much reviewers have really dropped the ball on the content. Seriously man. I love your stuff. It's funny too, because I originally thought "no way he can cover how immersive Wild Hunt's world is and why, along with everything else, in 22 minutes." But of course you managed and that fuckin' rocks. I am really, really enjoying this game so far. It also seems like I'm not running into a lot of the bugs other people are reporting (dunno why) but then I've only played about 8 hours.
I think that's what makes you such a unique source of information in the review world. You recognize this and unapologetically stick to it. You don't believe in dumbing it down so it gets to a wider audience. I'm probably only saying what hundreds (or thousands) of people have said before me, but kudos to both guys on your channel (I think there's 2 of ya?) being brave enough and smart enough to do a good, honest job, and fuck the bullshit. Seriously, thank you. I didn't watch reviews on a regular basis for years before I found your guys's channel. As soon as I have some extra money I'm donating to your work.
Loot was the worst especially in the bigger quests by the time you do all the different parts of a larger quest to gain a certain special piece of armor or weapon, you are rewarded with something totally outdated from what you already found just doing basic stuff in the gameworld. TW3 is so full of underwhelming rewards that often I lost interest in moving forward in the game because the side stories were mostly predictable and there was a big gap I had to fill in to move the main story.
Fantastic review! You spoiled nothing, while explaining everything. Hats off. We have a game review master over here! So glad I subbed you all those months ago! You're my go-to place for games I'm on the fence buying.
Even though ive never played any witcher before this has easly become my new favorite game of this year. Just when i thought the only interesting anticipated game of this year for me was arkham knight this game comes around the corner and omfg i fucking love it. I feel so much like a medievil warrior. I love the whole choose your dialogue even thiugh i hate most games with choose your path type games because every choice feels like iade the wrong one. But with this idk it just feels better.
Not for most people. I like being challenged. But cmon game take it easy i wanna have fun and fucking destroy you too. Ive been stuck on blood starved beast for a while.
Have you played the Witcher 3? How does the combat compare to Bloodborne? I just finished Bloodborne and would love a game that's equally challenging, but offers balanced and responsive combat.
bizmonkey007 The combat is like arkham asylum mixed with dark souls. It's not as sharp and responsive as Bloodborne, and can be stutterry and glitchy on occasion, with framerate drops even on my PC version. The technical hitches don't bother me, this game is so much fun, and quite challenging. I love everything about this game and I've been playing it for 8 hours today, the day I got it. It's really hard to put down the controller once I pick it up with this game.
bizmonkey007 Go play shadow of mordor, while that game isn't like bloodborne its a very intuitive well balanced challenging(depending on enemies) combat system.
Gotta say thank you at this point. I entered the Witcher-games only quite some time after the 2nd part came out and enjoyed it and, though much later, the 1st game, although that one hasn't aged well at all. I have the third game already but I decided to play through both predecessors first, therefore I didn't see much of the Wild Hunt yet. Now, why the thanks? Because this is the first effing review I found, that actually gave me a balanced glance into the game and offered me the info I expect from a review. The Witcher 3 is a really weird case where some reviewers hail it as the cure for cancer, the dawning of a new age for mankind AND the aligning of the planets, while others try to convince me that it's one of the worst crimes recently commited to their hard drives. And it takes really little to no gaming experience to realize from even the most basic footage that neither is the case. And in this situation, I'm truly grateful to have found someone who can actually review this title. Granted, if I wanted to, I could "accuse" you of giving many of the negative points a gentle "But I like it"-massage, but to anyone with a working brain you emphasise even those weak points enough that someone might say "Well, but for me this is a big deal." Enjoyed it very much and I hope I can fall back on further informative reviews on your part when I'm once more indecisive about a game.
+Headbiter well i have to admit you are a bit late. This game is now lacking MOST of the issues it had. This review is from launch. The game is now on its 11th patch, the 10th patch being 15 GB on its own and consisting of 600+ fixes. You really need to play the game now!
Well, that's certainly good to hear and I will. Also, as I stated before (I think/hope?) I will most likely enjoy the Witcher 3, given how I even enjoyed the first game with it's many, many flaws. But I'm not beyond admitting such flaws, especially big flaws. And while I'm also aware that CDPR is neither the first nor the worst offender in this, you have to admit: Eleven patches, one even 15 GB big with over 600 bugfixes is pretty amazing and not in a good way. Because logically, every bugfix requires a bug to fix. So even as someone who has taken quite a liking to the Witcher game-series, I think it quite earned its nickname "The Glitcher".
Greatest game ever. Watching this review after I got it on May 19th 2015. The DLCs I would've bought at full price. Awesome music, voice, graphics, looks great too with the Xbox one x. Have a PS4 pro too and the exclusives are awesome.
With the release of RDR2, I'm itching to play a big open world game. Unfortunately, RDR2 isn't on PC, and CyberPunk is a long way off still. I've played Witcher 3 twice, but it's still my favorite game, and I may need to play it again. Have yet to play a better PC game than Witcher 3.
Got the Vanilla edition used for 30$ two years back, never finished lol. traded in for free with Sniper Elite 4 . Bought the Complete edition new at 25$, 3 months back (no regrets) money well spent. Only drawback is your old save game cannot be used with Complete/GOTY edition (maybe it does with some patching for PC, not sure) That's the only minor gripe for me, i was at Level 26 or 29 something with nearly 40+ hours sunk in; just exploring/Leveling up, all with still the whole world opened & yet to be explored. Getting back on same page (for me) might take few months i guess. Haters/Dislikers (no offense) might be those Call of Duty/Sport games fans or maybe those who really despise a RPG genre in general. Whoever still on the fence waiting and still thinking whether should you buy it or not.. PLEASE GO AND BUY IT. if you're reading this-- i am a gamer since the good ol' DOS days of gaming and i never even touched any single RPG all my life, This game made me a fan of the genre, and after Witcher 3 i tried Diablo III. So much to say guys. Go and grab it. If you're buying used or new, don't matter.. just get the Complete Edition or GOTY edition (as it is called in regions other than U.S) You might get it under 25$ nowadays. Easy. Make your mind to dedicate a scheduled gaming for this title as it is such a time sinker and it's really "HUGE" as everyone knows by now , and dudes likes us who have a lot to do & look after other than gaming, it's pretty difficult to keep up or get back to satisfy the craving once a week or so. Happy Gaming.
I don't remember the last time I heard such a deep and actually good review that didn't spend five minutes repeating itself on one subject I enjoy your logic behind these reviews and how you naturally flow with what I like to hear when listening to a game review of such a beast of a game as the witcher 3 seems to be and while listening I couldn't imagine the last time I was hyped for a game since gta v and your review contributed towards that and I thank you
AngryCentaurGaming No Problem man your content is by far one of best examples of thought on youtube or the internet period and can't wait for your review of Mad Max&Phantom pain later this year.
I liked and subcribed because of how amazing this review was. This is how every review should be like. Explained every aspect of the game. I enjoyed this review very much. Thank you.
A long awaited review :) At this point these are the only ones I need to watch to get the information I want. I don't really bother with IGN or Gamespot. This game is a buy for me, though I would prefer to wait till I have finished the others. I can't bring myself to play games in a non-chronological order, but that's just me. Also, I got plenty of other games yet to play, but I will be looking forward to this. Great and very thorough review!
To compare this masterpiece of artwork to Dragon Age Inquisition... ridiculous. That EA-commercial single-player MMO, on the level of a Saturday-morning cartoon - is several leagues below The Witcher 3.
Hyperbole at best. While witcher is indeed a nasterpiece and leagues ahead if da:i, dragon age had FANTASTIC artwork and levels. Witcher akso has fantastic memorable locations
ioannisdenton Fantastic mmo open areas that are so pointless the game would actually be better without them. And even if not, who cares whether the levels are pretty. Dai is a 5 or 6 at best (see user scores at Metacritic e.g.), while this is a 9 at the very least, and probably a 10.
come on! Da:I does many things right. and many things wrong. Only the horrendous non stop sidequests were dragging the game. Crestwood map with it's backstory with the bridge and the lake was a blast. If all maps were like that one game would be way better. The main story missions have more impact than withcer 3. The tone is more dramatic. But i digress: wicther 3 IS a better game overall
Great review as always. Music and sound really is a category i need to hear. Audio (music effects voice) plays a HUGE role in games as much as graphics for me.
I've never really played RPGs before but I think I'll try this one. Would you recommend this over Dragon Age Inquisition because I'm still a bit unsure on which one to get.
Joseph Hili The Witcher 3 is your best bet if you want to experience a good RPG on your first try in the genre. Dragon Age: Inquisition is good, but i feel that it'll give you a mediocre experience at best. You can still try it, but i recommend The Witcher 3 :)
Marko Stamenkovic I don't think The Witcher 3 is that complex though. It does require you to get used to the mechanics and all but i don't think it would be that complex for a newbie. Whatever it is, anything can be worked with :)
Joseph Hili The Witcher 3 is by far the most accessible in the series but still has trouble explaining and relaying information. If you want a more accessible RPG to start off with try Mass Effect 2 or Skyrim, both are accessible but great.
Joseph Hili Both are great imo. DAI does a really good job at customization and characters and story (if you're interested in the DA world and know things about it the story will be pretty phenomenal even though the main villain is a bit half-assed). It also gives you the opportunity to make and shape any character you want your character to be. DAI is not fully open world but has like 10 big regions which are pretty well done for a studio that has not really had experience with big areas. The Witcher 3 does a great job at giving you this huge dense open world with really great main and side quests in it. All the side quests feel important compared to DAI where a lot more quests are fetch quests. Combat is IMO personal preference. The Witcher 3 is more realistic and DAI is more flashy and tactical. All that in mind, I think the Witcher 3 is one of those bar setting games like Skyrim was in 2011. So yeah
I'm upping a comment i can't find anymore, was around 1.10 at the time, But what do you think of the patch 1.22 and its impact of the review? Do you plan do make another walk i the walk for toussaint? that would be awsome :p
This is a great review. If I had to review your review of this game you'd get a ten out of ten. I've read about 20 critic reviews for this game and NONE came close to making me want to play this game like yours. Your descriptions and analogys are amazing. You never lose focus and keep the viewer interested. You just gained a new subscriber
What about for someone who hasn't really played the series? I've probably put a couple hours into the witcher 2. Would you recommend it still for someone who hasn't got into the series that much?
It would be great to see Karat release a video about how the witcher compares to games in 2019. I personally believe it holds up as a great. Would love to hear his take. I'm sure all the fans would as well. Take care guys. Keep up the great work!!
Pretty much 90% of your graphical issues can be solved by not playing on console. Its pretty unfair to a game to play it on console then criticize its graphics. If you really want to see what it can do graphically then you need to play it on PC.
+PosseSlayer17 I've only played it on PC and I still have all the glitches he mentioned, characters start out completely bald, no facial hair, no hair then a second later hair just pops into view. The slowdowns are insane on PC. I have a GTX 760, i7, 8gb. And the game is just so random with frame rates, sometimes I boot it up and the front menu is running at like 10fps. It's completely random, I tried putting everything on low and disabling all the postprocessing, and I would still get 15 fps in game. I have to reboot the computer, wait about 15 min, and then I put everything on high/ultra and it runs at solid 50-60fps. Completely unpredictable.
In 15:00-15:07 you said that when you kill some monsters, not all of them have livers. How, about - maybe they were cut with a sword and became a mush?
Easily my favorite RPG ever. Immensely immersive, thoroughly enjoyable, mature; it does not treat you like you're a stupid child needing to be hand-held (cough AC cough); and it has a very good payoff. An incredible game.
I bought it day one, tore threw it like a hot knife through butter (literally had separation anxiety when I had to put it down) and when I finished it I was dumbfounded as to what I'd play next, knowing nothing would compare...so I immediately started and finished it again lol. I'm back in 2023 getting ready to play The Witcher 3 on my PS5 and watching old videos to get me freakin' pumped lol. Great review ACG but it needs to be said if you beat the base game in 35 hours then you're not experiencing any side quests. My clock was 105 hours on normal difficulty.
Or the fact that the consoles would struggle with better graphics in game. The game looks beautiful on PC and it would have looked better if CD Projekt Red didn't downgrade the graphics to also fit for consoles.
I'm so friggin exited to go buy this tomorrow! I'm so sad I won't be able to start playing until next Monday. Thanks for the awesome review! One of the best, if not the best I've seen so far!
Loved the comment at 12:55 about 'Skyrim'. A really vacuous and hollow game (pretty much like the rest of the franchise), or as someone else described it, "A desultory, monotonous medieval walking simulator", or words to that effect. Consequently I ditched that fetch-fest of a game a few hours or so into it. The only aspect of 'Skyrim' which made me want to play it again was the superb musical score, which I sometimes listen to on UA-cam. The graphics were pretty nice in places as well. But everything else felt empty besides the music.
Got the game in 2015 but the performance wasn’t that great on the original ps4 so I ended up selling it. Just purchased the goty Edition for the ps4 pro and wow, what a ride! Such an amazing game that I dare say the best rpg/game I have ever played. Awesome review as always!
wtf am i doing here? I have already completed the game twice plus the expansions. I need to get a life.
I bought Assassin's Creed: Origins and Shadow of War, yet I'm still playing TW3.
On my 4th playthrough;)
Same here :)
just bought the complete edition for 14 bucks. that's what you get for waiting 4 years lol
If you over 20 years old and still involved in console wars then you got a problem
Anroid is still better than IOS, though
bizmonkey007 hahaha...too funny:)
Akras Maduk I have s3 and ps4 best choose of console and os
I mean seriously? How many grown men argue about a sports team they have absolutely no control over or involvement with? Or Debates on politics like there's any universally right answer, as if lust, hate, lies, and greed dont exist in a man made system, seems pretty childish to me....most arguments are petty, or self centered, or half baked, dgaff if its over consoles or wars, tf cares who has the most "power" anyways...crap im sure there are poor children playing in garbage happier then some "rulers" ...tf outa here
and once again you have a really in-depth review that craps on any review from any of the main review outlets
Mario Tainaka LOL thanks Mario
Mario Tainaka The ACG reviews are deep like a whale's asscrack -- if it had one. It might have one. Not sure.
Impeccable game. Boggles my mind how they pulled it off. Elegance is its own form of perfection.
undeny What a bullshit.
Ben Parent Final Fantasy Vii
@@turbotrup96 whats wrong with the fights?
@@turbotrup96 Ive been trying to get into this game for months i just cant.
I felt immersed in the world and at the end was really happy after 2 years I decided to finally play it
MOPPY922 zelda tp is a rpg?
Zelda is action/adventure tho
Gotta admit, your reviews beat the a$$ out of the conventional reviews. Way to go! This is not just a review, it's an entertainment package. Cheers!
Akshay Shetty LOL thanks Shetty you get it man
Best RPG ever, deserves to be the game of the year
+Absolute Zero seems like 18 hours people disagree
+Jordan Hetu What is that supposed to mean?
5km$/light year people
Mr Prezident yeah, no. It doesn't even have a proper RPG elements as your ability trees change so little and are more similar to slashers.
It's hardly even an RPG since you only have one character to play and his personality is mostly the same however you choose to play.
I must say the graphics looks fantastic on the PC (even on 1080p despite me running 4k textures now).
I play in 1440p and it looks amazing even today!
One of the best done reviews I've ever seen on youtube and I've seen some amazing ones.
wolfflow Thanks wolf
One thing worth mentioning is that you hear a lot of British accents, Welsh, Irish, Scottish as well English regional accents (Midlands, North East, etc) which seem (from what I have seen) to be relevant to specific areas of the Witcher's map.
Still my favorite game of all time. Hard to believe it's been two and half years. AC: Origins has borrowed heavily from this formula and is a fantastic game for it in its own right.
The game isn't perfect, few bugs here and there nothing game breaking for me. This game is easily top 5 RPGs of all time IMO
+Gavin McCree
+Gavin McCree Absolutly.. Especially the detail in this game
I agree. It pushed some boundaries. i really enjoyed it and am still playing it. i mean.. there's so much to do itsbdauntjng lol
oh hell yea. and the expansion pack was soo good i cannot wait for the newer one. Im going back once ive had my fill of fallout 4
Gavin McCree What did the expansion pack give ?
I'm glad you were more honest than the big name reviewers Karak. Instead of just slapping a score on the game you go more in depth than others. That's why we all keep coming back!
at first (for me) you were just a cool dude who talked funny on youtube with some interesing videos, but now you are my favourite reviewer! i've followed a game magazine for more than 10 years now, but they lack what you have - personality and originality! you have become my primary source for reviews now. your style is just so unique and funny and loveable, your eloquency astounds me every time.
kudos to you good sir and please do carry on!
Whooooper THanks Whooooper! Glad you stuck with me man
Leslie nielsen..what a grest comedian ..I miss his comedy.
Oh my Im cracking up xD Wonderful comment!
Hope you played blood and wine
2018 and I can confirm the horse is still autistic
Mathew Gilbert for some reason I can't reply to your questions. The consoles did have some judder but what you sound liek your getting is worse. Tried rebooting?
AngryCentaurGaming define "judder" lol, thanks...will reboot though, didn't think about that after patch
Matthew Gilbert oh i know a solution to that; get a PC, console peasant. ;)
(joking.. kind of..)
AngryCentaurGaming The water looks better on PC surprise surprise...
My god you're an awesome reviewer.
AngryCentaurGaming PC is love. i love ur review
Norway is known for black metal, not death metal! ;)
Bought the complete edition for 25$. Thats a great steal
luis taco Bargin of a lifetime
Shame on you
Jose Moran you feel like a big man now because you have an unpopular opinion?
luis taco I just got it for $20 today on PSN
Jose Moran you probably play fortnite 😂
Better then Skyrim
Better then DAI
Better then Rouge Warrior
Not Skyrim has an organic feel that you could literally do anything
assasinman1112 Skyrim is good if you like dumbed down garbage, regen quest, bad rpg elements, glitches, bad combat, bad writing, bad story, and lasyness. Skyrim is weathered sure, but it is no way organic.
The FleshEatingMouse that's your opinion. some people like me have more fun with skyrim than this
Nachosxd13 Objecitve garbage is objective garbage.
assasinman1112 But to what end?
Very detailed, it's almost as if you had a year start to review these games and it's almost crazy that you get all this information in only days.
you should review blood and wine/hearts of stone as each of those expansions are better and much larger than the majority of full games out could even say they are both full blown games
never will sadly. no time. New stuff every day
ACG
You're missing out man!
If you ever find some time, at least play Hearts of Stone. It's story is the just about the best Witcher story I've experienced (and I've also read the books) and it's not awfully long.
Reckon you could finish it in a day and a half, especially if you focus on the main quests.
Reading the books then playing the games is pretty much the best fantasy experience ive ever had.
Only the Witcher 3 can make a side quest about a frying pan memorable. If such a quest was in another open world game it would probably be a meme.
You didn't play it on PC ?
His first mistake.
I noticed he played on consoles the moment I saw textures Lighting and Water
Michael Weber ur pic suits the comment
This review is great, Karak. I like the fonts used for "Dude's just gone". It seemed to blend with the game, for lack of a better term. I also noticed (or have just noticed) the new animations for introducing different segments of the review. They're sleek. Looking forward to more of your reviews!
Hassanuddin Ishak Thanks man. Appreciate you noticing!
Best witcher 3 video review i've seen so far!!
I played the game for about 20 hours and everything you sad was spot on!
Great review and a must buy!
+Walter Crews Thanks so much Walter glad you liked it man.
This is the first review I've ever watched of yours, and it was charismatic, funny, interesting and waaay more informative than any other review I've seen of this game. You kept me interested for the whole 22 minutes, subscribed.
BaconJets Thanks Bacon. I totally appreciate it man I try!
You are the best reviewer in UA-cam no joke!!!
Recommended your channel to all of my friends!!
Keep it up!!
Xbox is trash
"The Witcher a medieval batman" laughed my ass of at that, very accurate.
man .. i wish you did the review on PC
No that would be worse no offence because it be the exact same thing just with amplified graphics and there's alot of gameplay out right now of PC anyway
John Smith just wanted something on the optimization
Oh ok I understand
Just wait for TotalBiscuit, his port report is sure to be out by Wednesday!
Sam Poncho really? I run on ultra and barely maintain 60 fps on a 1070
It looks good on ps4 but takes some time to load textures and there are a lot of fps drops everywhere. The games playable and i enjoyed playing it on console but its definitely not the best place to do it.
guess my ps4 is somehow stronger than urs xD cuz TW3 is working superb on mine especially blood and wine dlc
Sr Nigromante It was like that for me but after the blood and wine patch I've noticed no fps drops at all.
Sectric There are still frame drops in Novigrad for example, i exagerate a bit saying there were frame drops everywhere.
I was waiting for some games that enticed me to get a PS4. This...this right here... it is. I've never played Witcher but I LOVE LOVE LOVE to explore and I love love love me some RPG. It looks like a cleaner skyrim. :D
it shouldve inticed you to buy a pc....
An Xbox would have been a better decision
Great entertaining review. I love this game so much.
Just here to get hyped to play W3 again. But dude... you’re the gamer of reviewers. You actually give us a true analysis. Thanks
water looks amazing on pc consoles are limited by hardware so many settings r lowered
Can't say I agree. Even running it on a 4.5 and a gtx 1080. I wouldn't call the water amazing ever
+ACG hmm maybe its all abt taste xD
+ACG nice review though
agreed
+ACG Karak, go look the water in the region of Toussaint in the DLC, it's AMAZING.
when he was talking about other games based on witcher 3's side missions all i could think about was eskels, lamberts and geralts drinking party ;D
archishman pradhan Thanks so much Pradhan!
AngryCentaurGaming Much love from India :D
This game runs mint on the PC . It's probably the best RPG I have played in years.
This is why i come here in depth reviews and ridiculously good puns. Exactly the review i was waiting for. Thanks!!!
yoseph961 Thanks
You are a very good reviewer. This channel should have more subs.
Tylaris Valore Thanks so much Valore.
You sir are the king of reviews, this is both informative and funny. I won't even bother with IGN etc anymore
Jim Kew Appreciate it!
Top notch review man..ive been following your reviews for a long time and they are more reliable than most other reviewers.
Keep up the good work man...
Please do a review sort of thing on the new update on witcher that is supposed to come out..they said there will be a new difficulty level..a much tougher one..
have been waiting for this one.... awesome as i expected! Keep it up, you are easily the best reviewer out there! :)
TheElGranato Thanks man
I will still make my personal judgement, but you seem to be most specific reviewer when it comes to what the main quest actually entails and what are it's strenghts and weaknesses. With as many contradicting points as I've seen in reviews of this game, it's good to find out someone who puts forth both sides (positive and negative) of each area of a game. Thanks for this!
DarkDjim Thanks Dark. I try
Wow, this is the best game review I've seen in a long time! Nice job!
+Max Buttrill thanks max
You sir are by far one of if not the best reviewer i have ever came across.I always watch your reviews last because you are the best.Thank you for always telling the truth.
Finally the review I've been waiting for. All the reviews I've seen seem like they were based off witcher trailers
Who was the guy you referred to at 10:30,the one you hated.
that i would also like to know...maybe Radovid? Emhyr? The Baron? or maybe that sick fuck psycho who butchered those women...dont remember his name but he was like a known mafia/criminal kind of dude....also i remember that geralt beat the shit out of him
Karak it is HELLA refreshing to see you put up a 22 minute review after talking about how much reviewers have really dropped the ball on the content.
Steven Bishop Hahaha I am happy you took it all in. Some games just need extra love. Not all but some.
Steven Bishop Thanks so much man and ya I am full time and Cadiz currently does some quicklooks, podcasts and so forth.
Nilhilion Thanks nilhilion
Even though ive never played any witcher before this has easly become my new favorite game of this year. Just when i thought the only interesting anticipated game of this year for me was arkham knight this game comes around the corner and omfg i fucking love it. I feel so much like a medievil warrior. I love the whole choose your dialogue even thiugh i hate most games with choose your path type games because every choice feels like iade the wrong one. But with this idk it just feels better.
***** that game is great. But i wanna play and have fun not rage.
Not for most people. I like being challenged. But cmon game take it easy i wanna have fun and fucking destroy you too. Ive been stuck on blood starved beast for a while.
😐
I love your reviews! Very well done with a mix of tongue and cheek comments. So funny! Thank you and keep up the fantastic work!
+Nick Sharp thganks
+ACG you may have answered this before, but did you review this on PC or console?
This and bloodborne are my GOTY :)
It's really hard to put down the controller once I pick it up with this game.
gamergrill69 haha thx XD.thats what i was about to say XD.
bizmonkey007 Go play shadow of mordor, while that game isn't like bloodborne its a very intuitive well balanced challenging(depending on enemies) combat system.
If you have the PC version, there is a mod to change the control schemes to darksouls/bloodborne.
Granted, if I wanted to, I could "accuse" you of giving many of the negative points a gentle "But I like it"-massage, but to anyone with a working brain you emphasise even those weak points enough that someone might say "Well, but for me this is a big deal."
Enjoyed it very much and I hope I can fall back on further informative reviews on your part when I'm once more indecisive about a game.
+Headbiter Glad it helped you Headbiter. And by the way excellent username lol
Would love to see an updated Witcher 3 review or maybe a look at the trilogy as a whole would be really good
Greatest game ever.
Happy Gaming.
dude, the best thing that happened to reviews youtube channels, is you getting unemployed. Now i can enjoy good reviews. Thanks man
Michael Thorton LOL. NO seriously that made me smile
hope so, but it´s the true my friend
I don't remember the last time I heard such a deep and actually good review that didn't spend five minutes repeating itself on one subject I enjoy your logic behind these reviews and how you naturally flow with what I like to hear when listening to a game review of such a beast of a game as the witcher 3 seems to be and while listening I couldn't imagine the last time I was hyped for a game since gta v and your review contributed towards that and I thank you
KoMoDoGamezHD Thanks so much Komo. I am stoked you liked it man. Sometimes it doesn't vibe with people but I try
AngryCentaurGaming No Problem man your content is by far one of best examples of thought on youtube or the internet period and can't wait for your review of Mad Max&Phantom pain later this year.
This is how a review is done!
Genius!
Pedro Gonçalves THanks Pedro
I liked and subcribed because of how amazing this review was. This is how every review should be like. Explained every aspect of the game. I enjoyed this review very much. Thank you.
+KezZia X Thank you very much for the kind words and for subscribing!
That one dislike must be from IGN.
Asbjoern cc Thanks so much man. I apreeciate that
To compare this masterpiece of artwork to Dragon Age Inquisition...
TW3 is a 10/10 for me.
IMO they both are good in their own way but i luv witcher more than dragon age
10:07 anyone know who the hateabale character is? I thought of Whoreson Junior but I'm not sure
BarneysPlayhouse the baron
IamXhedo Yep, he was referring to the Baron.
Cool, i had to get a physical Xbox one copy for the extra stuff. I only care about frame drops, hopefully it's not too bad.
Great review as always. Music and sound really is a category i need to hear.
Audio (music effects voice) plays a HUGE role in games as much as graphics for me.
ioannisdenton Thanks and ya man. Its such a huge catagory it being skipped is criminal
Joseph Hili Witcher 3 hands down. DA:I is also really good, but W3 has much more interesting stuff
So yeah
you are officially my go to guy when it comes to reviews! Definitely recommending you to friends
thanks sir
I'm upping a comment i can't find anymore, was around 1.10 at the time,
But what do you think of the patch 1.22 and its impact of the review?
Do you plan do make another walk i the walk for toussaint? that would be awsome :p
This is a great review. If I had to review your review of this game you'd get a ten out of ten. I've read about 20 critic reviews for this game and NONE came close to making me want to play this game like yours. Your descriptions and analogys are amazing. You never lose focus and keep the viewer interested. You just gained a new subscriber
+Wade Johnston thanks
What about for someone who hasn't really played the series? I've probably put a couple hours into the witcher 2. Would you recommend it still for someone who hasn't got into the series that much?
walkingdead1231 If you read a wiki maybe and just keep abreast of the big things you wil be fine
***** I like it dude. I just don't have alot of time to jump into complex deep games in between music and work. But the witcher 3 looks amazing.
***** hell I haven't even beat bloodborne yet gaga.
Haha*
It would be great to see Karat release a video about how the witcher compares to games in 2019. I personally believe it holds up as a great. Would love to hear his take. I'm sure all the fans would as well. Take care guys. Keep up the great work!!
Pretty much 90% of your graphical issues can be solved by not playing on console. Its pretty unfair to a game to play it on console then criticize its graphics. If you really want to see what it can do graphically then you need to play it on PC.
+PosseSlayer17 Did. Still had issues. Patched now of course.
+Serujio96 lmao be quiet
I bet you have a lisp and spit when you talk...
This would be the first time I've seen one of your reviews, and I found it remarkably eloquent and descriptive. Subbed.
Can it be tomorrow now? Please?
TriggerByte Man fuck Monday!
PC gets to play it today. Yeet
KEEP THE CHANGE I pre-ordered from G2A so I have to wait :P
TriggerByte should have gotten it from GOG since that's owned by CD Projekt.
1 hour and 49 minutes left now.
KEEP THE CHANGE i got it on pc and i cant play it
I'm only two minutes into this review and I'm loving your spill of words and the heavy metal references. You got me as a subscriber \m/
Kelly Hart Thanks Kelly!
I'm late, but still... Superb review. Subscribed
+Dio Brando thanks
In 15:00-15:07 you said that when you kill some monsters, not all of them have livers. How, about - maybe they were cut with a sword and became a mush?
Easily my favorite RPG ever. Immensely immersive, thoroughly enjoyable, mature; it does not treat you like you're a stupid child needing to be hand-held (cough AC cough); and it has a very good payoff. An incredible game.
Thanks a lot for reviewing this before launch!
Jezze102 Yup
I had it on ps4 but found it super cheap on gog.com so got it on pc. Lemme say, huge difference. Do not regret.
Exactly - I got it as a gift for XBOX few days later bought PC copy - never touched console version again.
I know it has its graphical issues at some points but we all have to keep in mind how low the budget was to make this game was....
Karak bro...you da man!
abhistorm Thanks
AngryCentaurGaming Will you do a PC review as well? If so, then i will not watch this one.
kartoffelsaek No I may update this one
AngryCentaurGaming Okay, then this will be the one i watch. I'm sure it will be a great review as always.
Id say the story is a bit more complex and has a lot more going for it then the way you sort of overly simplified it. But beyond that solid review.
Fuck it's one thing to be a victim of a drive by grammar Nazi attack, but even worse by one who likes prank vids :(
Got the game in 2015 but the performance wasn’t that great on the original ps4 so I ended up selling it. Just purchased the goty Edition for the ps4 pro and wow, what a ride! Such an amazing game that I dare say the best rpg/game I have ever played. Awesome review as always!
