      This is just superb, I've been looking for "authentic 1920s flapper dresses" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Have you heard people talk about - Panadarson Flapper Falbala - (should be on google have a look ) ? Ive heard some decent things about it and my neighbour got cool success with it.

      Amy Cooper
      The larger the difference between chest, waist and hips is, the more difficult it will be, to make a dress without darts/seams work. Unless it’s super stretchy and thin material. The stiffer/thicker the fabric, the more it will pull and wrinkle, trying to conform to a more extreme form.
      So plus size as in curvy...probably not. For a women, who is just larger, but still kinda ‚tubular‘, this would work.
      Certainly over shape wear, to flatten the belly and stuff. But it’s really all a matter of proportions, not size. 🙂

    I was inspired to make myself a sequin skirt for my 69th birthday. It was definitely “had to sew”, and I had to remove the sequins from the stretch mesh backing before hand sewing. I put in an elastic waist and a waterfall drape on the side. Fabric was 1 7/8 yard on sale as a remnant from Joann’s for $21 incl tax, and picking the sequins took 2 evenings while watching DIY Designer. Worn with a black top, it was a total hit! Thanks for all your great ideas and encouragement to think outside the box in order to make unique “designer” clothes!

    You are gifted and brilliant--a national treasure! There are so many of us "baby boomers" in our 70s with sagging upper arm skin. What kind of dress can you make with a short sleeve or shrug? ...from Grandma Bunny---not the dumbest blond in Phoenix.

    • @ultimatecouponlady
      @ultimatecouponlady 5 років тому +2

      You can make some arm bands out of the material, yep, using safety pins. They will hide any batwings or other imperfections and will be stylish and flirty. Or, you could make a no-sew shrug. Just buy 1-2 yards of fabric, cut or fold it in half, drape it over your shoulders like a shawl but take the ends and tie or pin them in the back (without criss-crossing them) and make sure it's snug to your body. Hope that makes sense and helps.

    I made this dress for NYE yesterday and it was so fun! I’m bustier than Orly so I had a little bit more bunching up of the fabric in the back but it still looked freaking great. Thank you!

    I am obsessed with the fabric you used in the first demo! Can you tell us where you purchased or provide a link? Love your videos thanks 😘

      Unfortunately I just bought it downtown in that fashion district here in LA
      Do you have fashion district in your town? There are some double sided sequin fabric options online, but I just can't vouch for them cause I didn't use them

      When you sit down the safety pins pop. How do u avoid that? I've done this b4 with a skirt and it popped when I sat down poking me...lol. I had to go-to bathroom to fix. Then was worried it was gonna pop again all down the side and then I would be standing there with bare hinney showing. I had nothing on underneath. I need to get some shapewear. I guess. These are very cute. Love the video.

      @@renaelynn6376 definitely wear something underneath when you're dealing with that many safety pins! They could also cut into your skin😮
