Not sure if you caught the bar on " On & On " When he says " I guess there really is a heaven for us hip hoppas , i really miss my patna , but I know he wit the big poppa ( biggie ) 2 pacs , and the Big ( L ,as in a blunt) rolled proper , and thats a big PUN ( talking about the double entendre on the previous line and Pun himself ) " . Man is just a genius .
This song is by far the most heartfelt one on the album. It's brought me to tears plenty of times, especially since it reminds me of a close friend who passed. His lyrics are just so relatable and its amazing how he easily he can weave messages and stories in his music and still manage to use word play so effectively.
Joey is easily one of the best in this generation but I would love to a see a reaction of Amerikkkian Korruption by Capital STEEZ and PEEP by Pro Era. Much love great reaction as always
Pro Era - PEEP the aprocaplyse!! - album by Joey's collective, full of similar amazing rappers including Capital Steez and CJ Fly - honestly think its on par with Joey's solo albums
I was at such a shit time in my life when this album came out, listening gives me so.many memories. Honestly that time left me better off and more humble and appreciative of what I have. I continued partially because of this album, at least, it gave me motivation at the time. And still, gives me such a strong feeling of perseverance and hope that I couldnt replicate. I could honestly say this album shaped me and partially saved my life.
I'm sad he didn't have a big reaction to the "Got Dragon balls like my name was Vegeta" line, I freaked the fuck out when I first heard that 😂 great video as always!
You might need to check out the Joey Badass mask off freestyle! Like how you said he’s a phenomenon. Joey used to be widely referred to as a rap prodigy. He was still in high school when he penned 1999.
Joey isnt considered one of the greats alongside Kendrick and Cole because he’s not mainstream enough, him and big krit are arguably better rappers but make more underground music so never get thrown in the conversation
Idk about either of them being better than Kendrick but all three of Kenny, Krit and Joey deserve to be on the same level of mainstream attention, Cole on the other hand is a good bit overrated if we're being completely honest 😬
loistor Joey hasn't made enough s tier projects to put him in the same conversation as Kendrick. I listen to Joey more than Kendrick but you need to have some metrics for claiming someone a goat contender.
@@2013_Shox ? All three Joey Projects are S tier lol and I listen to Kendrick more and I think Kendrick is the greatest rapper of all time. If TPAB didn't exist, they'd be on the same level. Joey can't put out his own TPAB tho, he needs his own DAMN. to launch himself into the real mainstream
Ganesh Pacharu the difference is J Cole, especially old j Cole hits the soul and is very detailed with life struggles that we Alll go thru. Even the simplest ones. His singing voice in the warm up and Friday night lights you can just feel the soul in his voice. J cole ain’t the best rapper wordplay or lyrics wise nor the best singer, but idk it just hits. Maybe it’s just an east coast thing when it’s cold and cloudy and listening to “can’t knock the hustle” on my way to work. And I’ve been listening to Joey since the day 1999 released and Kendrick since section 80 days. J cole just hits different once u stop tryna observe his technical ability. But messi is miles ahead the best player of our generation lol
Yes, Joey season, can’t wait for you to get to Summer Knights too. You should review Tyler’s old stuff after this imo or whenever, interested to see your reaction lol
watching this made me realize how well this album aged. for his first album he came swinging with the overall experience of the album. this aged VERY WELL
Joey one of the best out here! Can;t wait for his next album. Please react to Mac Miller's Watching Movies with the Sound Off. Today is the 7 year anniversary where he debuted #3 on Billboard only behind Kanye's Yeezus and J.Cole's Born Sinner.
You're absolutely on fire with the uploads man! A recent track that I recommend you to listen: end of daze by earthgang, JID, mereba... It has a really strong atmosphere set to it and the subject matter is perfect for reviewing!
He dont get the love cuz a) came into the game at 17 so was already slept on, on top of that he came during Chicago drills peak b) never chased radio hits c) his fan base is a loyal, what he lacks in commercial success he makes up with staying power
so glad you reacted to this! i was lucky to meet Joey on his B4DA$$ tour which was incredible, hes so chill and a lot taller than you think. Next beastcoast you gotta do a flatbush album
I remember when I used to smoke weed and the day I listened to this album I was bought ocb papers because I peeped the tracklist and saw the track O.C.B ( Only child blues) after that album listening/smoke sesh this album instantly become my favorite joey bada$$ project.
“And I remember sittin in my room all alone, staring at my ceiling fan, gettin in my zone. Mama was never home, woke up one morning papa was gone. Youngin lost so i ease my mind and pop in these songs.” Easily my fav Joey line...
got to see joey do this live in NYC on 4/20 in 2015 along with the rest of pro era and domo genesis and it was one of the best concert experiences ever

Can you consider Tetsuo and Youth by Lupe Fiasco. One of the best I envy how you're listening to these for the first time. Unorthodox brought Joey to my attention but the day I heard On and On 5 years ago, he became one of my favourite. New subscriber by the way
He missed the triple entendre for the “Haezus view” hook. You can hear him saying “I can see you through my hazels, my hazels, my hazels. Hazel and In an eye color. Dudes nice
Don't know if you ever listen to some folk but you should listen to Sufjan Stevens. He is one of the best lyricist of the decade if not the best. You should listen to illinois or michigan. Two classic album
B4DA$$ means "before the money"
It can also mean depending on your perspective "be for the money"
Before the money there was Love... but before the money it was tough
I always thought it could also mean b4-d-ass
Yh loool surprised jon didnt get that
Be for the money could also be interpreted but its obvious not when it's counterintuitive to his music's message
