Need to mention that the oily slick that forms on the surface of the water will also limit oxygen exchange, think old air filter for your vehicle

MP 40 6” away from my acros. Looks like it’s growing like a melting crayon in the direction of the flow.

Been trying to get the flow right on my tank for a a long time now. Tried three wave makers. Everything was too strong and caused hammers to recede. Tank may be too small but I need the random flow.

Have you tried the random flow generator from vivid creative? I have the dual nozzle paired to an upgraded dc return pump and a small wavemaker on my 15g cube. It's enough to move everything even though I have the pump at 50% power.

@@Baka_Mopwhat wave maker is it that you use? I have used rfg's taken them off and am now using them again. They need a ton of flow to really work and since my return pump line split's to two outlets it never really seems to work that great.

@David Garcia Jr What tank do you have? I'm using a 280gph NJ Wavemaker from ASF. It's a newer product from Dr. Tim's and runs completely silent, comes in 580gph, too. I had the same problem with the dual outlet RFG using the stock return pump, so I switched it out for a Jebao/Jecod DCS-1200. I basically got an adjustable DC return pump that was rated for way more gph than I needed and just lowered the output to what I think is enough flow for the tank. I have plenty of flow and surface agitation now. It's on my desk, so I'm always about 1-3 feet from it, but the wavemaker and dc pump are so silent that I can't hear them over my computer fans and the tanks led fans.

Yeah i know i need to get better flow bc theres a deadspot where my huge acantho acan micromussa set in the corner n i know itll eventually cause problems but luckily im moving anyways so im gonna be replacing the sand entirely anyways so i jus gotta make sure when i get it set back up im gonna add at least one more wavemaker or maybe buy my first gyre to increase my flow some i mean i wasnt too concerned with it at first but now i have a cyano problem n im sure thats part of the fuel source and me feeding too much but im correcting for that i jus dont wanna add too much flow bc i barely have any corals that like high flow i have one acro 8-10montis and thays it for high flow i mean i have a bunch of eiphyllia which are already being blasted as much as they can handle which is prolly y theyre growing so well but id rather slightly under do flow than go over the top and shred up my basketball sized hammer or something flow can be one of the trickiest things to dial in bc u have so many diff kinds of critters that need diff levels of flow and most phmps jus simply cant push water clear across a 4ft or 6ft tank so u have to blow from both ends then u have them clashing in the middle but them u get dead spots under ur wavemakers so then u gotta fiz those spots and it can get hectic and extremely expensive which is a big part of why i dont mess with acros or hard to keep corals any more jus too many things going on and also too expensive to maintain and stuff for slmeone as poor as me jus cant afford it bc i can barely afford a tank period thats what happens when ur disabled but anyways i woild have to agree with these guys once i dialed in the flow right for my euphyllia and montis they started growin much much faster my indo gold torch went from one gead to two in a month and now another month later andnits in tbe process of splitting kn tk four heads and i had a 15-20 head hammer double in size kn a out 6-8mo which is pretty damn fast compared to any of the euphyllia ive had in the past

Boundary layer sounds like heaven or hell, may or may not be real. What is real is fluid dynamics.

Confused as to why so many episodes are being re uploaded in place of new content.. understanding how busy you guys are I get it.. but rather disappointing.

BRS may have become victims of their own success. They have dozens of excellent videos on every aspect of reefing. Unfortunately, they are now at the point where they have to start delving into the weeds to get more content. Perhaps you could suggest a topic that you think they should cover.
