  • Mt. Baker in Washington’s Cascade Range is as important to snowboarding as any other place in the world. One of the first resorts to welcome snowboarders, it was also the home mountain of freeriding pioneer Craig Kelly. Now in its 32nd year, Mt. Baker’s Legendary Banked Slalom event is a who’s who reunion of the top snowboarders on the planet. Unlike any other snowboard competition out there, it draws all types of riders - from halfpipe and big air specialists to backcountry freeriders and boardercross champs. Amateurs and pros come together to test their skills on this jagged course with unique features like the infamous “toilet bowl”. With variable conditions and giant berms to navigate, it’s full on survival riding. Carnage is to be expected. There’s no prize money involved - just duct tape, quirky trophies, and bragging rights.
Two-time Olympic gold medalist Seth Wescott is here with buddy Rob Kingwill to compete against other top riders and reconnect with the soul of snowboarding.

My buddies and I entered the LBS in 86-87, I finished 23rd overall.
Baker was our home mountain and getting to ride or bullshit with a number of pro’s from Donnelly, Ranquet, Turk, Fulton, Amy and yes Kelly was a huge motivator.
You seen them ride for so many years that you could point them out by their style. A buddy of mine and I decided to head up to Baker midweek in 2002, we were just getting ready to load Chair 6 when I looked over to the right and mentioned to my buddy “check it out, that’s Kelly”. My buddy had never met him so after saying hello to Craig I introduced him to my buddy, it was like meeting his biggest hero. We never thought that would be the last time we seen him alive.
    Ride In Peace Craig

I would bet a hundred dollar bill I could beat every snowboarder in that race with a fresh tune up on my skis daily. If I can make it out there next year i'll beg them to at least let me do a test run while their still set up.

I bet a hundred bucks every snowboarder would beat you in a switch slalom race. You can't compare apple vs oranges.

I bet you a hundred bucks you’re a pretentious douche bag skier, just like the narrator of this video
