A must have for these baits is Mend-it. You start getting a tare in your bait you can easily repair it with mend-it. I've glued some tore up baits back together with it and they worked great after. It definitely will save you money.
@@whocares4648 6 or 8 in work the same for pike where i fish. HDperch and lime ice are my favorite colors. Hitch is another good color on the lakes i fish. Clear water, alot of grass, and forage is mostlt bluegill and perch.
Chris Zaldain just left South Africa yesterday after a month on the road here Punting his swimbaits to the Local market . Managed to hook up with a biggun on his 8 inch in carp colour . Nice guy to meet , chat with . Cheers Matt
I have some larger swimbaits, but now I mainly use the 7" flukes. I thank you again for helping me get the bass bug. I have caught more bass and bigger bass this year than 30 years of fishing.
As someone who doesn't fish tournaments and fishes primary for big bass here in Florida AND not a tackle junky I tend to stick with only a couple of proven baits: Magdraft in 6", 8" and 10" , S waver glide bait and bluegill swim baits during the summer when they are spawning. When conditions are right I'll pick up a 8" Magdraft and throw it all day. I have no problem with only getting a couple of bites since they are rarely less than 5 lbers where I fish ...
I watch all your videos for a reason. Knowledge is king in bass fishing i believe. Maybe you can do a video on those baits behind you. Pick some plastics and tell the story on that biggun you caught and the conditions. Just something I would love to watch . I use most plastics and prefer Maxscent myself. Confidence in what you are using is also key. Thanks for all you share to us anglers. I pour my own worms as well....
Bass pro recently started pouring that swimbait again. Comeback swimbait I think is what they call it. 1 out of 3 swim right and you can boil them and get maybe one more right. They discontinued “the babe” company went out of business
@@MattStefanFishing IMO, typical BPS quality control strikes again; way too much time messing with the 2 I finally got to swim right. Try the Skinny Bear Big Cull swimbait. It’s a 7” “the babe” almost identical but line through and swims perfectly out the box!
Big Baits=Big Fish....1 of the most realistic baits I've seen, is the big 7" gizzard shad line thru soft swimbait by savage gear....The thing looks just like a big shad
I really wanted to love the Megabass Magdraft but after using the 8” version once the magnet ripped out (after about 10 casts no hang ups) and the 6” legit lost the eye after its 3rd cast in open water. J-U-N-K, thanks for some other options.
I've been trying all kinds of horizonal baits. The water temps in our local rivers and creeks are hanging around 70. Not much luck yet but they are still killing a wacky worm. I would check out those Gama Hybrid worm hooks for that 316 bait you showed. I suspect your hook up ratio would be even better. Just sayin.
You thrown any 6 or 8” Huddlestons around home? I’m thinking of trying one or two for Ohio but I don’t hear of ppl throwing them as much anymore and definitely not around me. Ha!
@MattStefanFishing what are the best conditions? It was overcast with 10mph non-stop wind 2day. 50 miles north of Pittsburgh p.a. so idk if 2day was the day for it. But I also don't know. Would you avoid the swimbait in those conditions? Sorry, I know you're a busy man. But trying my best to get better at catching them
I have a 6" Cull Shad and a 6" Magdraft they catch good size Bass. Thanks Matt for the tips on these swimbaits 👍🏻
You bet!

That cull shad is one that is worth the $$. I fish it for pike and am amazed at how durable it is! Also love the hook clip.
What size and color for pike?
yep its a killer!

I recently caught a 5 and a 6 back to back on a cull shad. Now a believer in the 6 inch swimbait
thats a good swimbait!

I did have one day last week where I was catching them on 5 inch flukes in my local river. Tried the 7 inch a couple days later, No luck.
bigger flukes are great!

I want to try these, I fish a 5” paddle tail sometimes, and this is basically just an upsized version of that.
yep
What rod, reel set up do you reccomend? For line: do you do straight fluoro?
I like a fast MH with 17 lb fluoro

Btw if anyone else experiences these shortcoming with the Magdraft, Mend-it Soft bait glue will help fix them right up
They all lose eyes
3:16 is Money 💯it will get you a kicker bit. Awesome info, brother. Thank$
