Good friendly competition! Guarantee these dudes respect the hell outta each other!
Definitely especially considering there's only few people on earth who can do what they do so they're the only ones who understands each other.
U can't guarantee that
@@yaboyvickk5635 just did
@gjaegreag he is being serious
Sumo is for bitches
'' yes sumo is not deadlift'' lmao
It would be interesting to see if he could break the 400kg deadlift for reps record held by Heinla. With a suit it might be close.
i feel he can at least do 6 right now, 7 big maybe
With a suit yea probably could right now
Suits are gay.
@@robertwilliams5618 I agree
@@chesterstone5739 thank you
This is incredible. I think he did 7 reps and not 8 reps like you stated however.
Yeah 7
He did one off camera like a chad
Also was not raw he had figure 8 straps on
@@robertwilliams5618 Its Strongman lift not Powerlifting. Lol.
They are prepping on Deadlift WR and Jamal is invited on that competition along with Ivan as well
Probably knows this and just wanted someone like U to comment and get more clicks
Let’s gooooo. That’s a competition I want to see
This might just be friendly poking since I believe the two are participating in the deadlift competition next year that jamal talked about recently
Yeah it wasn't in a disrespectful way i think ivan is excited to have some competition as far as someone wanting to try to beat the record and not just win the event or set a new pr, and it will get alot of the powerlifters wanting to tune in to see it and it will help the competition grow and as far as deadlifting goes its the pinnacle of deadlifting and if jamal does set the new world record then fair play to him and its great to see a powerlifter trying to top the strongmen just like its great to see strongmen competing in powerlifting hope there will be more cross over, would love to see eddie compete in a propper powerlifting comp
I think it can’t really be comparable giving the weight deference then have on each othwr
@@driften5751 but what about sumo pullers that are pulling 500kg with 100kg+ less body weight to thor and eddie, clearly you dont need the sheer mass to pull 500kg sumo yet conventional pullers pulling 440kg+ have to have the mass to pull the weight which for me is the biggest factor in the sumo debate, i personally think jamal will have to bulk up to pull 505kg but i think if he pulls conventional more he has a chance, him not wearing a suit could cost him but again he is used to pulling without so a suit could maybe be a detriment to him
@@driften5751 It's Jamal's choice to enter an open weight competition
@@alexfrye6
Exactly.
Nothing better than trolling a sumo deadlifter aka a half repper
Ivan the Troll he does resemble one
I think Jamal is going to surprise people at the DL world champs with how well he does. I reckon he’ll do 450+
I fucking love jamal but I doubt it. He'll probably hit 433-436kg
Competition day the weights are just so much heavier
if there is a 435kg weight, hes probably gonna hit it, not any higher though
@@zachsmcl That's not how deadlift world championships work. There will be set weight jumps so he wont be able to hit anything like 433-436. I cant see them having a jump to 435. They like their 25kg jumps.
400 - 425 - 453 (1000lbs) - 475 - 505
I think he'll get 425....453 is going to be a tough ask if he wont use a suit like he's implying.
@@shawnmichaud4484 oh I didn't know that! Interesting. Thanks for letting me know :)
@@shawnmichaud4484 if he hits 453 that would be fucking insane. I doubt it but I'll come back and eat my words if he does it
Dude almost blew a gasket at the end!!!
Strong AF!!!!
He needs to be careful though.

Ivan is great. He's just fun. I'd love to see him break the 400kg for reps record.
my god
This is me at like 300, and he's just bodying 800+
Ridiculous
What a conventional chad
Tsss, I "only" counted 7
With a suit and straps, I think Jamal could probably do 1000 conventional. But we will see.
Dude has pulled over 433kg (like 955) without straps conventional. Jamal did this about 9 months ago and has gotten stronger since. Also he didn’t even train conventional at the time. I think Jamal with a suit and if he goes all in on the prep I think he’ll pull 1050+
Epitome of conv vs epitome of sumo.
Na Brian, Eddie, or Thor were epitome of conv
@@no-ml4yi Ivan has pulled more than Brian ever did, and he's got more years in him to beat Eddie and Thor.
Jamal is half his size and his conventional is incredibly strong for someone who doesn't train it.
His conventional is strong in general
he does train it
Figure 8 straps is not raw.
Whats up with his right bicep?
Jamal can lift much more than Ivan WITHOUT STRAPS, at a muchhhhhh lower bw.
Jamals pulled 400 conventional lets see evan match him aswell in sumo 2
Honestly wondering, is something wrong with his right bicep? It seems contracted all the time. Or is just huge?
I was looking at that the entire time. What's happening?
Looks like he's torn it at some point and it's been surgically reattached
Wouldn't call that raw, (belt and straps) but I get it, no suit. Dudes a unit.
Lol you’re allowed a belt in all comps
@Gabz the Great cool story. Still not raw by the definition of the word
I don't know Ivan Max but the thing to note is that Jamal has not used strap in his training yet or a deadlift suit which is allowed in deadlift competition
He has used straps and has made it clear he won't use a suit, and tbh I think that's great. I'd love to see Deadlift World Championships done without a suit
For those of you about to get pissed in the comments. . . Ivan was clearly trolling.
Well he is right.
He is kinda strongish
Legit question, is a suit and figure 8s considered raw now?
thats a singlet not a suit
Straps has always been considered raw.. deadlift isn't a grip test.. and he isn't wearing a suit
@@yaboyvickk5635 Straps have never been considered raw... in a powerlifting meet, where the deadlift is most prominent. You must be talking about strongman, so you should state that. And yes, it's a test of grip as much as anything else, if you can't hold on to it, you can't really lift it. Don't tell me my hook-grip suffering has been for nothing :P
@@PinataOblongata bruh the entire point of hook grip is to make it entirely less of a test of grip bc the thumb essentially acts as a strap . Hook grip is really just about pain tolerance
@@yaboyvickk5635 You still have to have a strong grip to hold onto it. It's still very much a grip test, just not easy mode like straps are.
Jamal is way ahead, so jokes on him
🤡
Ivan has lifted more than 480 conventional with suit and straps. That’s significantly more than Jamal’s conventional best.
No he's not 😂
@@YFun-ux5rs Jamal lifted 500 before Ivan, raw with straps and 50kg less in bodyweight. And sumo doesn't count in strongman and so on, I know all of that. Not a fan of sumo myself. But they both are pulling for clout mostly and Jamal is ahead.
@@YFun-ux5rs will they go head to head at deadlift championship? Probably. And Ivan will pull more most likely. But in the time it took Ivan to get from 450 to 483 Jamal went from 450 to 500 and that wasn't his main deadlift focus either since he is still powerlifting
I like ivan but he never lockes out in training this always hurts his competition can someone explain why he does that it seems kinda obvious but was he hurt or so
Jamal has grip.
@The Dark Lord Is Eternal dropped it with over 1000 raw....Ivan is using figure 8s for 800
He uses hook grip which essentially takes grip out of it.. it's just painful af
Man deadlift max gotta be at least around
1,060-1,050
his best gym lift is 490kg and 475 in comp
straps arent raw wtf
I tried sumo deadlifts a few times. I always get a lot of pressure on the sides of my knees on the MCL and LCL ligaments. Anyone else ever experience this?
Yea
Thats morality kicking in trying to deter cheating with pain lol
Positioning problem, you could be having the bar too far out and forcing the weight on your knees and lower back to pull it in. I'd have to see a video to give a full assessment
I honestly think it's just down to anatomy. Sumo increases my lifts by 40kg sometimes, but there are so many pros that swear by conventional because that gives them the better results. If it's hurting you, it's probably not the right way for your body
You’re doing a conventional deadlift with a wide stance, not a sumo deadlift. Flare your feet so that the flat part of your shins are parallel with the bar and push your knees out when bending down to grab the bar, your knees shouldn’t go forward over the bar(a little bit is fine and will probably be necessary, but not a noticeable amount like with conventional).
Sumo deadlift is way more "vertical" than conventional deadlift, I mean distance between your legs and the bar is shorter than conventional...is like a high blocks regular deadlift, try to start pulling focusing on the center of your feet while the bar distance from your legs is half inch less than with conventional, your back (and spine) will be more vertical and in the right position to pull sumo deadlift (but focus on pushing your feet to the ground instead of pulling on the first inches while the bar starts to move) another important thing is having ankle opened but not stretched to the sides, ankles, knees and feets are following the same imaginary line somewhere between 30-45° depending on your mobility and stability. Sorry for my bad English, hope it helped to fix that pain and performance
Still. 380x8 is like 474kg max... I dont think so he will lift someday 500+ but he is a beast
Makarov is a strong hitcher, he went up to 480kg in comp.
380x7*

Let’s see your lifts
Many people dont take into consideration that Jamal is powerlifter and has to stay under particular weight limit and still lifted 500kg without any suit or figure 8 straps even if it was sumo. To me its more impressive.
no. Sumo is infinitely not as impressive just like a suit benchpress
@@boxingvanilla5960 Do you even lift?
@@boxingvanilla5960 Eddie hall could only do 400kg sumo tho. The difference between most sumo main to conventional is closer than most conventional main to sumo. Also if its so ez you try and sumo 500 kg. I bet you cant even sumo 200

Straps hanging figure 8s and deadlift suit is not deadlift either.

I think this one is 350 or 360, he even acknowledge it in the comments of the post somewhere.
Still impressive, just not that impressive
Something tells me he shouldnt do this.
Jamal outlifts him with such a big distance. Bodyweight to strength ratio is ridiculous with jamal and he’s 10 times healthier
Not quite raw if he's wearing straps surely. Also if the champs are in August, way too soon to be excited.
Lmao deadlift isn't a grip test.. straps have always been raw

Who cares about raw when everyone uses a suit in comp ? Makarov 482kg vs Jamal 430kg. 52kg difference in the WDC competition rule.
Huh?

@@unknownplayer7667 please, call me."cuz"
As a sumo hater (kinda) I must say that wearing a suit is more of a cheat than gripping the bar inside inside legs.
It’s not cheating if it’s in the rules. The main thing at the DL champs is they are all using same equipment and pulling the same (conventional) so it’s fair and apples versus apples
@@mattholt5063 This logic apparently doesn’t apply to sumo haters though, because it’s still cheating even though it’s allowed in comp
Yeah. It's the rules, don't blame the lifters. Also it's cool to see 500 kg dls. My point of view is that sumos shouldn't be compared to conventionals, because they are different lifts. Like a hack dl.
