    Nice job, Melissa! Definitely something to think about and a sweet price point. Thank you.

      Like I said, it is an alternative to think about. You do have to have some patience and give it a bit more time, but I was able to get some very nice results. The key was to have a very sharp, polished graver and good control.

    I'm curious if you've used the lion punch forge hammer handpiece graver adapter, and if so, how does this compare?

      Yes. I have used it. I prefer this machine over that one. But they are different. This one I don’t have to fight my flexshaft cord and such.

    Melissa, thank you for this review! I have been looking for something like this to help with my stone setting. I am getting ready to order, but I need help finding the extra graver handle or options for the gravers. Does the complete mean it comes with both graver handles? Also, where do I order replacement gravers?

      You would need to check with whichever company you are purchasing it from as to which handpiece is in the box. I do not know of any that come with both of them. The round cMax gravers from GRS will work in this machine.

      @eviaballard2682 - Gesswein has the second hand piece the “Heavy-Duty H2 Handpiece for SmartPro Air Do X”. This sturdy, heavy, handpiece has a broader body and utilizes a heavier spring and piston for applying the extra pressure and control needed for engraving on hard metals. Hope this helps!! Happy Smithing.

    For drilling not need speed, need power, and with 65w its impasible to do that..need more power

    Yesterday afternoon arrived my air do x.. I’ve tried but it hasn’t the strenght to do the work that is show in the video.. I’ve tried to engrave a little piece of soft copper, and nothing! This is a beautyfull machine, but it can’t engrave and its ridicolous because its the only work that has to do.. i’m really dissappointed because i put 1100€ in the 🚽.

    • @MelissaMuir
      @MelissaMuir  5 місяців тому

      Make sure the handpiece is screwed together tightly. I have found that if it is open a little bit I lose power.

      @@manuelbenetazzo6541 there are two handpieces available for the machine. You may have the lighter one. I found that the lighter one was fairly light weight. Good for shading, but not deep engraving. Perhaps reach out to who you bought it from, or SmartPro and see if you can get the larger/heavier handpiece.

      @@MelissaMuir smart pro support team didn’t tell me about this 2° handpiece.. i know that there are 2 different pistons, but i’ve tried every combination and it doesn’t engrave like this video😭 Can you link me this handpiece, please?

    I purchased the air do x in hope that it was a good alternative to a GRS or Lindsay but it lacks power. It lacked the power to cut deeply or hammer over medium gold bezels. Be smart and don’t buy smartpro. Save up a little more and buy a GRS or Limdsay system.

    • @MelissaMuir
      @MelissaMuir  10 місяців тому

      It most certainly is not on the same level as the GRS and Lindsay, as I stated. I agree, sadly, the smaller handpiece does lack the power I would prefer. However, when no wing to the larger handpiece it did hammer over quite thick bezels for me. I wonder if you have the original handpiece that is smaller and lighter. They have come out with a heavier one that is much stronger. And that one, I found to be quite adequate for the stronger operations.
      It is like the difference between the GRS monarch vs the 901.

    • @johnsmalldridge6356
      @johnsmalldridge6356 10 місяців тому +1

      @@MelissaMuir the compressor can only produce minimal power as it has no storage tank for higher pressure. The GRS and Lindsay use larger compressors with tanks and regulators for a reason. On top of that is limited parts availability and warranty from a foreign country. To me it was a waste of time and money. To you maybe it’s worth it or maybe you’re getting something for promoting the product. It did look like you were working with softer metals in the video. Either way that’s fine I understand.

    • @MelissaMuir
      @MelissaMuir  10 місяців тому

      @@johnsmalldridge6356 yes. They are valid points. Regardless if whether or not I get anything for my review, I have always been truthful and honest in them. And yes, I was working with softer metals. This is not a machine I would need if I was going to be a full time engraver with it. But it would get me through if I needed to do stone setting or a little here and there.

    • @MelissaMuir
      @MelissaMuir  10 місяців тому +1

      I am sorry to hear you feel that way. While the machine isn’t a GRS, it is one that can serve a need in the industry. Gesswein isn’t that only one that carry this. Most of the top companies are.

      I feel that way because i bought one some time ago, as you would be aware is is just a generic Chinese produced item that Companies such as Gesswein put their name on mine broke down, and to cut a long story short, I was told it will be at six months to get spare parts, it is a throw away item, false economy, buy quality buy once @@MelissaMuir
