    In this video we have modified a 40' high cube #shippingcontainer into a 24' office, two bathrooms with toilets, sinks, urinals and a mechanical room that houses a water tank, pressure system & septic tank. For this mod, we strut-strapped the container, installed our windows, doors, and a rubberized flooring for the two bathrooms and mechanical room. The office side is finished with PVC wall panels, desks, baseboard heaters, an A/C heat pump unit, and 4ft light fixtures.
    Each bathroom features a residential style pot light, as well as sink, toilet, and urinal, which all get pumped into the rear mechanical room which houses the water and septic tanks.

    Beautiful!! Versitile, suggest putting the breaker pannel across from the man door at the other end, so that a fork truck would not accidently rip the electrical box off with a delivery through the two end doors... still loved it !!!

    A radiant bathroom sized wall mounted radiant heater in the utility room near the foor would be very efficient clean and out of the way since heat rises naturally over pushing the heat down...plus it would naturally heat the cold air comming in by the double doors...also consider another submersible pump in the waste water to move it to an existing septic system...just thinking... dreaming to make the whole operation solar ;-)

    Is there a reason you could not use an IBC tank for ‘waste’ and or maybe even water ? That would make quick swap on a worksite if needed where a dump point or waste collection service was not easily available. That plumber did a terrible install, it is so rough and really did not need to be.

    I think i'd make the water catch room a 2 foot water proof room so nothing spills into the bathrooms if anything happens plus you can spray stuff out if something spills!

    MM I was thinking are there options of having a door to the bathrooms on the inside, other than the outside, or was that the option the customer wanted? Because of weather conditions on some job sites.

    Thanks

    Not sure if you're checking comments on old vids but ...
    You mentioned using BX wiring ? Is that due to code in Canada or ? Could you have used NM and hidden it in the walls, assuming you wanted to ?
    Insulation looked to be your normal ~2". What was in the ceiling ? Is there any code requirements for this type of mod, as it's used ? Is that continuous, that is does the insulation continue behind the strut channel ?
    You mentioned the name of the wall panels but I couldn't make it out. What is it ? Is it cut to fit between the strut channels? How is it held in place ? IIRC on another office type mod you used something that resembled vinyl siding. I seem to recall that it was glued to a wall ????
    The plumbing is typical for a marine type installation. Did you consider raising the floor to run and hide it ? Would you ever consider running it under the true floor and either cutting into the cross struts, or even under them, and insulating if there was some septic system on site ? Would a toilet, proper placed, be better situated at the gooseneck end of the container for under floor DWV plumbing ?
    OK, enough questions for now. :)

    The door hinges on the outside seem like a security risk. Is there a reason why they aren't on the inside?

  • @JohnTurner313

    Cool build as always. But why not also use the partition wall as the interior wall? The exposed strut channel in the interior is pretty ugly. Even with the 42” change.

    What did you do with the floor deck? Is it the same as the international containers that are treated with the strong insecticide?

    • @TheContainerGuyTV
      @TheContainerGuyTV  Рік тому +3

      This container had the Eco Bamboo flooring. The insecticide doesn't hurt you unless you ingest large amounts of container flooring. Don't eat the floor. See full report here: drive.google.com/open?id=13jP-2Fa4HUVX0f4BWMoAQ6ZFZ3Y9jFwY

    I just stumbled upon a foldable container company named *Continest*
    what do you think TCG?

    • @TheContainerGuyTV
      @TheContainerGuyTV  Рік тому +3

      Hey. Thanks for sharing. Foldable containers are developed to solve a shipping problem from China (or Europe) to North America. I venture to guess these businesses who manufacture them would modify normal shipping containers if they were located in Canada or the US. They're trying to dip into the North American market the only way they can.
      The Cons: In Canada, the lack of vapour barrier and poor insulation value makes them condensate like crazy in the winter. Furthermore, none of the electrical is CSA approved (unless they've finally figured that out - doubt it though). I could get into a bunch more cons but don't want to sound too negative.
      The pros: They can be stacked 4-5 high and ship as a single 20'. If you're looking to set up a camp or temporary hospital in the middle east, I think they're a great solution.
      They also have found purpose in underground mines where they can fit down the shaft then be assembled underground. That being said, a local potash mine is getting away from them because of the poor quality (inability to move after setup without falling apart) and now have us cut real containers in half then retrofit them into shacks or offices.

      @csehszlovakze Рік тому

      @@TheContainerGuyTV thanks for the response! the company was founded here in Hungary but has gone international since then, and their containers are manufactured locally. no idea about prices, though.
